Flory Bidunga Wins Big 12 Defensive Player of Year

0:00On March 9th, Kansas sophomore forward, Florian Bidunga just picked up Big 12 defensive player of the year honors along with a spot on the all-big, 12-first team. He topped the conference with 2.7 blocks per game and ranked second in the nation with 84 total blocks. His rim protection fueled Kansas' top-ranked defense, holding opponents to just 38.7 percent shooting from the field. By Dunga earned the only unanimous nod on the all-defensive team. This marks the 9th J-Hawk to claim defensive player of the year. In conference games, he posted 13.2 points, 8.9 rebounds, 3.1 blocks, and shot over 66 percent from the floor. As a highly-touted 5-star recruit from Indiana, Bidunga barely saw the court as a freshman behind veterans.
