Florida Parks' Cold Snap Survival: Frost Cloths & Heaters

Walt Disney World and Legoland, Florida took quick steps to shield their plans from back-to-back freezes. Disney horticulture teams covered Toby Eries and flower displays with frostcloths at night. They stowed sensitive items in on-site greenhouses right before the Epcot International Flower and Garden Festival kicked off. Meanwhile, Legoland protected its famous banyan tree planted in the 1930s by placing heaters around the base. Staff pruned damaged areas and replanted young plants near the new Galactic Coaster Ride. Some browning showed up on palms and other greenery, like those near Magic Kingdoms, Crystal Palace, and Epcot's Entrance. But experts say it's typical after a cold snap, and new growth is already starting with recent rains. The parts pulled through thanks to planting and vendor deliveries, keeping the festival vibrant. Teens are now looking forward to a true spring, with lush recovery across the properties.
