Further north, the Daily River Town of Nau U faces a major flood emergency with levels at 14.9 meters and expected to hit 15. 0.3 meters overnight, marking the second highest on record. Residents in Besswick, home to over 500 people, are sheltering on higher ground without full evacuations. Elder Peter Lindsay expressed worry over dwindling drinking water supplies, though deliveries are due soon and praised police for keeping kids safe from crocodiles. Meteorologists Nate Byrne warns of more heavy rain across the Northern Territory this week from an active tropical low, which could push river levels, higher and already soaked areas.
