The underpass there stays underwater for days after storms, hitting local businesses and folks trying to get around. Storms rolled through on Saturday, and the water lingered right into early this week. Places like these package store saw slower traffic as drivers avoided the deep water. One regular customer tried pushing through a couple days back, but had to turn around when he saw others doing the same. He put on his flashes and called Birmingham Police, pointing out no one had blocked the road after about 30 minutes. Store employees say this flooding pops up over and over, year after year.
