The annual STEMI awards celebrate innovation, leadership, and a shared commitment to expanding STEM opportunities for students in the broader community. This year's winners represent excellence across all four award categories. 2026 STEMI award winners, Business of the Year, Nestle Purina, Community Partner of the Year, Grand Canyon Woolf Recovery Project, Teacher of the Year, Stefani Wickham, Kindergarten Teacher, Seacrest Elementary School, Student of the Year, Davis, DN, Ye, 11th grade, Basis Flagstaff. In addition, Flagstaff STEM City presented its inaugural Lifetime STEMI award to Chris Luginbull, honoring his decades of leadership, mentorship, and lasting contributions to STEM education and astronomy in the Flagstaff community. The 2026 STEMI awards were celebrated on March 19th at Lowell Observatory. Student and Teacher Award recipients each received a $500 award in recognition of their achievements and contributions to STEM education.
