Fire at The Trawlerman: Community Rallies for Rebuild

0:00On April 6th, a fire ripped through the Traulerman chip shop on Woodhouse Drive in Beech Hill on Good Friday, April 3rd. It started around 5-10 pm. From a deep fat fryer, right when the place was packed with customers queuing out the door. Everyone got out safely before the flames spread fast, and firefighters from Wigan and Henley station showed up quick. The crew arrived by 5-20 pm with three engines, using breathing gear, a hose reel, and ventilation fans to knock it back. They stayed on scene for about 3 hours to make sure it was all clear. No one was hurt, which is the big win here on the busiest fish and chips day of the year. Owners posted pics of the wrecked interior on Facebook, sharing how shocked they were watching their hard work go up in smoke. They gave big thanks to the firefighters and their own staff for handling the evacuation smooth. Now their laser focused on rebuilding fast, knowing it's their livelihood, keeps their team paid, and serves as a community hub for folks who don't. Get out much. Fire crews confirmed it was under control, and with that determination from the owners, expect those fresh chips back on the menus sooner than later.
