Conor Ben was willing to truly beat him by Ryan Garcia and Las Vegas at the weekend.

2:05It took just two rounds, or four minutes, but Garcia to secure the win and cement himself as arguably the biggest star in the sport. What now, though, Conor Ben? He has released a statement on social media suggesting he will take some time before deciding what the future holds for him. As for Garcia, he has his sights set on the biggest fights now in the sport. We'll also have the latest on AJ Fury. Yes, there's more that saga is still rumbling on. We are going to hear from Dana White who spoke to both of us out in Las Vegas. This is Fight Night Extra, a busy one on Talksport 2. Hi Garcia, a stop from the band within two rounds. If you look at him and say the only reason that Conor Ben was gifted that opportunity,

3:05because he's not a merit, the only reason he was gifted that opportunity, because he is his father's son. He was never going to beat Garcia in a million years. And people are watching this good day, you pulling them down and just giving them pure stick. I'm not, he's the truth. He's never been to that level. He's never been to anyone of that level. I'm not only I came, I called Jai Obatai out. He said he's been looking for me, I've been ducking him, but we proved that wrong today. You got Tyson Fury, you got Frank Warren, you got Eddie Hearn, you got AJ, and all these people that are looking at making a lot of money on this fight. And Eddie Hearn just keeps hurting the fight. Mr. Garefe Davis, wow. You know, Vegas Weeks are the best weeks in boxing by some distance. And we've been fortunate that we've covered fight weeks all over the world. I mean, even where you are now, right? All over the world that nothing beats a Vegas fight week.

4:05There's so many great settings for a Vegas fight week. You know, you take media row in the ballroom at the MGM, by the MGM Grand Arena, that was on Wednesday or Thursday, I'm on which day it was now, because it was a, it was a replete week for events. The sites and settings, the Paramount Plaza by the team mobile, up at the UFC Apex. We're all over the city, and there's so much iconography there from fights of the past going back probably 50 years, I'd say, when the four kings were in their pump, and even the golden year of the heavyweight, so they were fighting in the Hilton in Vegas, and the Carlot in Caesar's Palace, where they used to build. Yeah, it's an amazing place to be, because there's lots of epicenters. And I think with the team mobile arena being now in effect, they can utilize so many different venues. It was a really, truly, a fantastic week to be around,

5:08and very, very deep in terms of what happened in the sport. Would you make up Zufa? That was my first time doing a Zufa fight week. And they seem to trim the fat, like the way in is very quick. In and out, press conference, Dana White doesn't really talk or ask questions to the trainers or managers of the fighters straight away to the press, and you're in and out with that, which I think I like. I prefer it a quick press conference. Would you make a bit? Yes, Rue, one is new. Who got the first question? Yeah, that is it. I know where you go. Listen, I've covered many UFC events, I'm familiar with the pattern, if you like. You get rinsed all week in the media. I'll tell you that, because there's events from morning, noon, and night almost in a way. And we do go to three venues in a day when we're doing things. I say rinsed, I'm there to work, like you are. We have a little bit of downtime on these events, but we're lucky enough to be, I'm working for the newspaper, I'm working for William Hill, I'm working for TalkSport.

6:12You're doing bits and pieces with us for TalkSport as a feature with us every now and again, but your full time with the zone. It's non-stop. I thought they ran it very well. They're a sleek machine, they're very helpful. I'm familiar with all the people. I think we've got some of the WWE to go behind the scenes here a little bit. You've got people that have joined from Top Rank, as they've got smaller, if you like, as an operation. You've got people that have joined there from the WWE. There's a lot of people behind the scenes in a fairly oiled machine that's really been going for 25 years in a period of growth. And it's just bolting onto the boxing world. And they get it. They know what a fight week is. They know how to promote. Like you say, the noise that they create at the way and at the press conference, the day of scenario, encouraging fighters to be, to blitz each other with words.

7:12It was, I thought the press conference was particularly successful as well, the way they did it and the two guys going at each other. So all in all, a very well run by them. I thought I don't know if you can feel the same. Yeah, not 100%. I've got tired of UK press conferences. And there's no disrespect to those that are presenting them. So this certainly isn't a digger, a dev or a Jamie Ward. I just find them very long-winded. Sometimes you've got undercarged press conferences. Then you've got the managers who want to speak. Then you've got times that the trainers who want to speak and the dads that want to speak. And I think the way in which Zufa do it, where all they really focus on is the main guys, which might, you know, some might say is disrespectful to the undercar, but they're like, okay, no, we're only going to focus on you because you're the ticket sellers, you're the ones that everyone's shooting in for. We're not going to hear from trainers. We're certainly not going to hear from managers. We're going to hear from the press. And I like that. It literally goes straight to the press press. Okay, first question. And I'm loving that.

8:13It's called a press conference. And I almost thought like that's been forgotten over the years. So look, I like it. The amount of cameras, the amount of cameras, I guess the UFC have, right, it's just, there seems to be a big camera everywhere everywhere. Everywhere you turn, you come at the toilet, there's a camera there, you know, there's a camera everywhere, which is fascinating as well. So it's so, as you say, a well oiled machine with thousands, it feels like a staff member. So look, they know what they're doing. Let's get straight to it. Everyone's been shooting in for our take on Connor Ben. I think we both assumed it was going to play out like that, but not play out like that in the second round. I think we thought it would, you know, be a bit longer than that, maybe seven or eight, maybe even sort of the latter stages of the fight. How surprised were you with that, that four minutes? Well, I think we elevated the level of Connor Ben around his own hype through the week. And because, you know, what you're alluding to there is, I think most of us thought he'd be

9:17very competitive for four or five rounds and then probably fade. He was dead at the weight for me, he was dead at the weight and not in the class of Ryan Garcia. Those are the two takeaways for me. And, you know, it will come to the rebuild in a minute, but if you call it a rebuild, but the, I thought he sold the event really well. He, they did the weight cut really well. They, you know, they've apparently doctored the photos to pull the wool over our eyes. They built Connor into this guy who could do it four years or more after he'd been at the well-to-weight limit and had come back down. That he could really go in there and produce some danger for Ryan Garcia. Who does fight with his head up a little bit and is a vulnerable type of fighter in his style? In and out, come and catch me style. I'm going to hit you hard style, but he just wasn't there. He's just not in the same class as Garcia, who I think is very impressive.

10:21Yes, he has off days. Yes, people like Roli Romero and Javonta Davis underscored him in their fights and pinned him. But, you know, ultimately, he just wasn't good enough to be Ryan Garcia either on the night or probably ever. No one's really, and it's easy in hindsight to focus on things and say, why was he given a shot? No one's really maybe making the point about why was he given a shot? Like, why did the WBC or Ford Conor Ben a shot at Ryan Garcia when Conor Ben A, as you mentioned, hasn't fought at the weight for four years and even prior to fighting at the weight, he hadn't really beaten a top guy to deserve the opportunity. Why was Conor Ben, and I think I know the answer to this, a rhetorical question, I guess, but why was he even given the opportunity to fight for the WBC World to weight title? Well, he's Mark's office, and there's no question about that. He looks, he acts, he feels, the nepotism, if you like, you could call it nepotism,

11:21or of his father, the opportunity, because he has the ben name being placed in that position. The two fights he just had with Chris Ubank, Jr. the fact that he's a controversial figure because the clomaphine cases over three years, because of the emotionally displaced, in every way, other than the class of him as a fighter who he was put in against, he is box office. And, as Dana White said in the week, this kid trained harder than anyone else, he does all that, as well. He's got all the ingredients, but he has not proven at world class yet, and he wasn't proven when he went into it. It was a punt in many ways, a $16 million punt, $12 million payday for him. He's got superstar status in a weird way. You love him or you hate him. I think half the fans love him. I think half the fans think he's arrogant, but that arrogance of youth that he has, he's 30 this month, that arrogance he brings is very

12:22attractive as well. And you know that they strut around the entourage. He's got the old school boys in the background in Tony Sims. And you know, he's very marketable and they're choosing people to be marketable for the way they build. And I think it's clever marketing, the event in terms of the fight didn't deliver, Garcia did, but Ben didn't deliver on the night in the ring. I said prior to the fight start and I said, look, if he loses, and I think we all predict to the wood, I said, there's no problem losing. It's how you lose, right? I mean, we're in a sport where you can be in exciting fights and there is no winner, there is no loser sometimes, but that was a bad loss. So you mentioned his marketability and the he's superstar status. Surely that's taken a dent because of how we suffered the fee or is it a case with the kind of UFC model where you lose? It's okay. You're in a big one the next time out. Like, surely his marketability in terms of his ability to sell has taken some sort of a hit or

13:23another. Yeah, yeah, his stock hasn't risen, I think as well. We had both or I'd certainly said this because it was in my mind, I think you said it as well. But if he'd had a good performance here, and it had been a barn burner and he'd knocked Garcia down at some point and then he'd been stocked himself in the seventh or eighth and it was a thrilling spectacle. And he managed to utilize that bustling, robust, kind of tenacious style of his and have some effectiveness in there and show his worth at world level. Then I think his stock could have risen in it and you could have planted that third U-bank fight at 168 even as the next thing without any recourse to think about where you're taking next. Or you could have said, I wonder if he works for a warm up fight for another person that's going to fight the Ryan Garcia who I now call the Golden Goose. I have done for a while actually. But I think that the rebuild is difficult from this because it was so comprehensive,

14:23even from what was it? Four minutes, 25 seconds in all. I'd, Garcia landed the cuffing, it wasn't a hellacious left hand, but he landed his cuffing left hook really early, the first punch of the fight. And then I cannot remember apart from Ryan being moved into the corner by Ben bustling against him. I can't remember a moment when he had much success. And it was like you say, it was so conclusive, you know, the left hand, the dip, Ben moving side who's being set up for that right hand, bang down the middle. And he just went. And I don't think he had resilience at the weight because I do think he was dead at the weight, Eddie. I really do. I don't think he had power there. I think it was too difficult for him coming back down. So it's a really tough cut. I cannot, I've been racking my brains over the last 24 hours thinking who'd you put him in with next. And it's a difficult rebuild. Yeah, I guess it's not even a case of who is what weight, as you say.

15:26I mean, you said was dead at the weight and maybe the next jump should be one, right? Which is 154. He seems to want to skip that. And he's already spoken about middle and super middle. But the weirdest thing is you look at his frame. And he is a 147 fighter. When I look at his frame, I was with Tio, Tiffy Malopas over the weekend. Same size as Connor Ben, these guys, they haven't any same size as Connor Ben. Like Connor Ben really isn't in his frame wise. I mean, boots, NS is 154. Boots is much bigger than Connor. These guys are much bigger. Sebastian Fendora, Zandensias, a Virgil old T's Josh Kelly. So really, he's frame is a 147 frame, but because he's taken his U-bank fights, he's now weirdly outgrown the weight. So very good point. It's a very good point. Yeah, honest questions need to be asked about the weight for him. Yeah, and that's a very good point. Like naturally as fit is probably 147, 150, four of them, the max 160 at the very max. And Boots and NS at 54 is a really difficult fight. Josh Kelly is there for him at 54,

16:32which is, oh, Fiddy fours, I keep saying, because I've been in the States too long. The problem is, he and Josh Kelly will be big in the UK. Obviously, Kelly is the rival promoter now. And I don't know whether that works at the moment with, we can get into all of that as we go on. But yeah, it's a really difficult algorithm to solve right now of where you put him. I think the point about his physique is very well made because he's not a big man. And he's a full maturity now. And that thing where you go up and you come back down never works for fighters, ballooning him weight. Look, look, he's made, we understand probably the best part of 30 to 40 million in his last three fights. He made a lot of money for the two Chris shoe bank fights. And maybe he's done, maybe he's done, he could walk away, maybe has one more fight and he walks away because he's a very wealthy man now. And there's a lot of other things that he could go on to do.

17:32Yeah, maybe so. The stoppage, some as listening to Max Kellyman, I was listening to their feed, Max Kellyman alongside Joe Tesserthorin and Andrew Andre Warden. And they suggested that maybe it was a tad bit too early, although there were no complaints from Connor Benning, he didn't scream in shout and orderly corner, but the shots from Ryan were Connor is leaning on the ropes. None really landed full force. I mean, look, you want to save a fighter for himself. We don't want to see him take a shellac in, but any complaints about the fight being stopped at a tad bit early or you're very happy with the stoppage. I'm okay with the stoppage. And those those winging punches, Ryan was almost smothering his work a little bit in there at the end, wasn't he? And some of them just coughing on the back of the head and five or six punches were, were winging in and they were just missing, glancing, coughing. I think the right hand was so conclusive and put him down, you know, so powerfully, he didn't look good finding his feet. I mean, I didn't think there was nothing coming back either from the drop from the knockdown. Now, it was merciful. I think I described it

18:39from the referee in many ways, but you know, listen, people want a bit of ultra-conclusiveness sometimes, but we're not in a we're not in a blood sport, even though it's a brutal sport at times. I didn't really have any issue with the stoppage. He was defending himself in terms of ducking down and bobbing and weaving, but he there wasn't, they didn't look like there was a way back for him. And as you say, no demonstrations afterwards from him or anyone else, and he was roundly beaten. So no issues with it. Prior to the fight, there were questions sort of been asked by everyone, all the media, boxing fans alike. What level was Connebenn? Is he British level, European level? Is he friend world level? Is he world level? I almost feel like those questions haven't been answered. We, I think some people were still asking what level is Connebenn? Because obviously he skipped the British scene here. Didn't do the European scene. Some might say it was quite wise, now maybe that cash cow would have stopped earning cash if he did go the British and European scene.

19:41What level was Connebenn? Do you say after that? Is that an impossible question after seeing only four minutes of action? No, it's not an impossible question. I mean, it's very, it's very fashionable at the moment to talk about, to classify people as, you know, area, European, British, Commonwealth, a world champion world class elite. I think, I will, I will gauge him on what I think about Ryan Garcia. I think he's very close to elite, very, very close to elite. He's got vulnerabilities that in this, in this fashionable standings at the moment, you might say he's world class and never going to be elite, but he has elite power. He has great movement, great tenacity himself, delivers what he wants to deliver. So in comparison, Ben was levels below Ryan Garcia in my view. So we don't, Connebenn could be a world

20:48champion, but it would all come down to the matchmaking and the timing. Jury's out on it, I'm afraid. And he was showing world class qualities until his ban, I would say, I would say. And I'm not pinning anything on him there, but the victories against Van Herodon and and Al Jury were setting him on the way. But maybe the second U-bank fight showed some, some fantastic qualities, but then the problem you've got with that, the, the anomaly is Chris U-bank looked like a ghost of himself in the second fight. The first fight against Chris U-bank, it was a small tenacious guy fighting a big, strong guy, it was still fine. That was maybe getting towards world class. It's hard to classify, you know. You could equally say, no, he's not. No, no, you would be saying, no, I struggle to kind of answer it. Like I was going to say British level, because that's how I would,

21:53the way Ryan Garcia dealt with Chris is way I'd expect Ryan Garcia to deal with British level fighter. I think a European level fighter would maybe put up a bit more resistance, maybe showed a bit more boxing ability, maybe not try to take Ryan's head off in the first round and just have a bit of a feel out round and just kind of slow down a little bit. Yeah, you said Chris say, you mean Conor, but that's a very, yeah, Conor, but I agree with you, but I think I don't think he was going to be able to sit back and out box Ryan, because that's his game. As Ryan did all week that, I'm going to bounce in and out brother, I'm going to bounce in and out and you're not even going to catch me, but I'm going to catch you when I feel like it. And he purported that's what he was going to do, and he implemented it in those four minutes, 25. So this is what we're talking about. It's not an insult to Conor Ben, he's done incredibly well as a human being and as a pugilist, as a prize fighter, but he just doesn't belong in with a Hania Lopez, a Ryan Garcia, a Javonta

23:00Davisa, a Shaka Stevenson. Think what Shaka Stevenson would do to him, and he's a slightly small amount. So he's been elevated. To the timing's been amazing for him with those two U-bank fights and the Garcia fight, he's been put up on the mountain there in the summit by Zufa Boxing at a moment when they needed a big name in Britain that you can either throw darts at or get behind, and he's made his money. And I hope he gets out safe and well and doesn't have too many more nights where he's got to deal with this kind of grieving afterwards. I think when Zufa first made this investment in Conor Ben, I think they were potentially looking at fights against the guys you just mentioned. Exactly. He was going to play the nemesis in that role. He was okay to play the villain and happy to play the villain. Do you think now then that they regret that investment because it's clear that he's not ready for those guys. Those guys can all mix with each other, they'll

24:02all beat each other. And we thought Conor Ben could almost be the hand grenade thrown in there to cause some problems. And I don't think that's the case anymore. Do you think they think maybe we messed up with the investment? Yeah and I asked Dana White that afterwards, you know, what do you do with him from here? And they're going to back him to the hill. They did crisis management on him at the post-fight press conference. Dana White is very good at that kind of thing because they won't be behind the scenes. They won't have been that happy with what they got out of him in terms of the performance. But they're backing him. So they'll find an opponent that suits his style and his level next time. Sure. I don't know who that person is right now because as you say it's not an obvious door to open at this moment in time. But you know, he hasn't delivered on that process that you rightly point out. They saw him in the mix with those seven or eight American

25:05princes around whom they're going to build boxing right now with Ryan Garcia. As again, as I pointed out afterwards and asked Ryan, you're the Golden Goose now. And I've always thought he was the Golden Goose. He may win four and lose three in the next seven against that grouping in a remetroge of Monterey. I think he loses to Shakur and Javonte again. I think he beats Tio or maybe not a non-form Tio, but that's a great fight. I think he beats Haney again. I think that's a trilogy. Richardson Hitchens. Anyone else they want to bring into that milieu. But Garcia is the guy. He's the key. He's the attraction. He's the A side for the A class boxes to come and beat up. So yeah, I mean, in a way, they will be looking at what they can do with Conor. But it's worked for him, not necessarily for them financially. Yeah, no, agreed. Oh,

26:06my Garcia thing as well. It shows the level of patience we have to have with some of these young fighters. We've been sort of looking at Garcia for seven or eight years as that could be the face of American boxing. And it's only really happened now. Seven or eight years later, the ups and downs, the defeats, the times we feel like he's maybe struggling mentally. And now we have the perfect Ryan Garcia speaks well, looks well, fights well and puts a lot of bombs on the seat. So I guess that's a lesson for all of us. And just patience with some of these young kids. They'll move at their time, not our time, I guess. And final one, very quickly, on Conor, if you had to guess or wait, so not on a opponent, a wait he comes back at. What wait is he fight at next? 168, 168, yeah, because I think, I think I'm saying that because I think it will be you, Ben, in a trilogy next. All right, there you go. 30:15when you think of the face of boxing, is it his image that comes to mind now? Do you just think Ryan? Or is it still Canelo? Is it still AJ Fury? Is it Ryan now? I think so, because we're even beginning to talk about him. Well, we mentioned just now, of course, that there's a grouping of fighters that they can build him around. And Zufa boxing wants to build big fights in America. Because there's this whole thing emanating from Zufa and Dana White. The boxing's broken, certainly in America, the boxing isn't broken in Europe. You know, largely down to, we've got a big fan base for it. We have big stadium fights. Heavyweight division has been strong and several other divisions, light heavyweight downwards, of course. But I think there's a pathway here that you can see that many of us have talked about for a long time, that building boxing around lightweight to maybe light middleweight, super well-to-weight is the place to be in America right now.

31:19Because in the bars, it is MMA, UFC, and all the other four big sports. And it isn't much boxing on in the bars when you go in them. And that's where they want to get to again. So, you know, even the name Terrence Crawford, I've mentioned this week around Ryan Garcia, that could he be the guy to bring Terrence Crawford back? So he really is the Golden Goose as far as I'm concerned. Yeah. All right, let's hear from the man himself who defended his WBC title for the first time. He spoke to Garif after the fight. I definitely got the Golden ticket. They want to come get it. Well, decide who we give the Golden Tickets out to. We're really wonko in here. 32:26Speaks well as well. Obviously, as a liking for you, Garif, not just on Fight Night, I was watching all fight weekend, very respectful of you. Obviously, that goes both ways you very respectful of him. And as I said, you would have seen him grow up over the years and maybe a lot of pressure was put on him. Obviously, you know, the relationship with Canelo going to Eddie Renoso, that winner of a Luke Campbell. And then obviously the issues with Oscar de la Hoia and the drugs and Devon Haney. He's that he's ups and downs for a young man. He's been through quite a lot. And he seems to have found himself now. I always feel like there is a slippery slope when it comes to Ryan Garcia, but for now, he seems like he's a bit level headed and he seems to be really focused on this quarter boxing. Yeah, I mean, I've been around him kind of in terms of fight events. Certainly going back to the fight of slucking it up here was Luke Campbell, he fought in January 2021. And you know, he's grown up a lot in this period of time. And I've always said to him, don't change

33:33try not to change. Just be yourself. I've had those close conversations with him. I've interviewed him for Ring Magazine a couple of times and been around him quite a lot and got to know the family. I think they're fascinating. I think he's an extraordinary store. I get it. Why he's got 23 million social media followers. He's got the Hollywood looks. He's got that wildness about him. He goes he goes raw at the edges. He almost jumps off the cliff. In fact, he has jumped off the cliff a couple of times. But there's something about him. There's a darkness in his eyes when he talks about his rivals when you're close to him. His eyelids come down. Do you know what I mean by that? You've been close to him as well this week. And there's a don't you know what it is. I think we forget or some of us do. Clearly not you. Some of us forget he's a fighter. Exactly. Because he does look like that. You almost think he's a bit of a playboy. You forget he's been fighting since he was five years old. He's a fighter that has good looks. Yeah. And he's been a dad from a young age as well.

34:39He had his daughter around him this week. And you know, mum was there and Henry's been in camp. Henry, I had my thoughts going into it. I hope it's worked with Henry in the corner for example. But it has. He likes his brother, what Sean Garcia, his brother one earlier on the night. His brother, he's the star. He is the star of the show. There's no question about it. He's got that swag. You know, he the tats. The the the the biggest security guard you've ever seen is about twice the size of you literally twice the size of you. It's the biggest human of a bin. And we were we were at this apex. I remember you say that we were all gathered there. Do you know? Oh my God. You are the biggest human being. And he must be close to seven foot. But he's muscles on muscles. The man is the and he's a very nice man as well, actually. But it just it just got all the stock. It's got everything. He's got everything in a little bit more as well. What he

35:45hasn't got is the ability to speak Spanish. And he did turn that around a little bit on Saturday night and spoke to that what was a brilliant Mexican crowd on Independence weekend from the Spaniards in 1821. Of course, it's Wednesday this week. The actual Independence Day is September 16th. And he addressed the crowd. So listen, I'm not a plastic Mexican. I might not speak the language, but I made my blood. You know, it's La Raza, you know, so I just think he's he's got everything. I don't know if you felt that during the week. Oh, no, no, he's got the lot. Even when he walks in with the ontarage and the ontarage isn't as big as maybe some people proclaim it to be, you know, there's not a hundred people behind Ryan Garza. There's a few. And that's because he's a big name. Obviously he's going to have a couple of security guards as you mentioned, but there wasn't that many. Big fan of Ryan, honestly, a big fan of him because you do want to see the sport grown America. If it grows in America, it grows worldwide. It's that simple.

36:46And he's in the weight division now where you can make five or six massive fights. And I think he's proven as as to be fair, Tio and Devon and Shakur, they will fight. These guys look at their resumes. These guys take on each other. They do fight. So hopefully we get some big ones. You mentioned it that Terrence Crawford's an interesting one because he seems to be coming for Terrence Crawford. And all of a sudden, if you're Terrence, I mean, you might look at it as easy work and a lot of money. I mean, he seems to be trying to tempt Crawford out of retirement. And that would have seemed impossible. If you asked me this question a few days ago, now all of a sudden Terrence is biting back a little bit. You know how it works? Turkey will get on the phone. Dana will get on the phone. Is there a number? Is there a number where Terrence will come out of retirement and fight Ryan Gossier? Yeah, there is. I reckon because I was as he was saying it at the post-fight press conference in the tent next to the T-mobile, I was saying that 80 million I was whispering to Tom Loffler,

37:52I think 80 million would get him back. And I think there's 80 million there. I think they could do that. And for Terrence as well, he was obviously fought at super middleweight all the way down to lightweight, where he beat Ricky Burns in Glasgow all those years. I think it was Glasgow, not Edinburgh. Ryan's come up from lightweight as well. So Terrence is going to be looking at him thinking, check his jeans in the air, he hasn't got the style to beat me, I can be really compact. I've fought at a much higher weight now. What weight can I bring him up to to fight me? If I can I get down to 154? 154 is a reasonable weight for us to fight him at maybe even catch weight or 160 even. So Ryan's 28 now as well. So I think that's a doable fight. But as you say, that would be a super fight that would again build America because the moment Terrence was exactly a year ago. Blessings, of course, to Ricky, the great Ricky Hat, and he was a year gone

38:59from this that weekend, that's when we lost him and his loved ones lost him. That a year ago Terrence Crawford and Canelo Forts and Crawford became a star overnight. And yet he retired, Addy, and he's been retired a year now. So add Terrence in the mix to those three guys that were also there in the week and ringside. Shackles there, Devon was there, Tio was there, they were all there ringside. Big booze for Devon Aini by the way. There's the fight, there's the fight. So it's all set up to really grow in my view. We were there at the foundation of a big bubbling pot that's going on just now. And there's more of course. I'm always surprised when there was fighters that are in and around that weight class and want to get in the mix that don't turn up for fight week. And I'm not there. Like Jack Cattrol that was in the studio back in London or whatever for the zone. Why are you not there ringside? If you want to get these guys, unfortunately, it's almost like your face has to be in and around them. Boots,

40:03Ennis, I feel like you need to be there. I feel like when you're not there, I feel like you miss out massively. You're forgotten very, very quickly. But it is what it is. Jial Patiah versus Dave of Benavida. Jial Patiah getting rid of Noel, Mickalayan Benavida jumps in the ring, bit of a face to face, bit of a handshake, respect between the two. That's an enormous fight that can be made. I don't know, probably early next year. Late this year would be nice, but more like early next year. Yeah, I think Benavida is going to fight Michael Syslack first. I believe in December. And obviously since the events of the weekend where the WBC title wasn't on the line, just to do the housekeeping here, the title has been taken from him. I don't know the word is stripped, but he's no longer the WBC champion. It wasn't on the line. Let's not go into the belts and Zufa right now because that's a two-big discussion. That's a whole podcast. But it was, I believe they're working towards that fight being done in the background for Cinco de Mayo next year,

41:07which would be amazing. And I had goose bumps when they were in the ring together, those two, because they match up physically so well. They're both come forward fighters. That is an amazing fight if we get it next year. Yeah, I use book with David Benavida's obviously out in Vegas for the big one. This is what the monster had to say. I don't like when people say I dug, people found dug, nobody knew I was going to come here. And I'd not only, I came, I called Gio Batayahu. He said he's been looking for me. I've been ducking him, but we proved that wrong today. You know, scene Turkey, all the sheeps, scene Dana White, and that fight's going to happen. We know because we're in the sport that we don't even need any belts for this. You two stepping a ring, it's the undisputed title, isn't it? Yeah, yeah, 100%. Yeah, it's the two best crews of the way in the world. Maybe the scariest fight I was going to say in the division in boxing, yeah, was David Benavidas. Just because of those performances, especially the one against Zerda, obviously, Anthony Yard at Light Headweight was frightening because

42:09we know Yard can back a punch and didn't seem to land a glove. But it's the way, in which he dismantled Zerda Ramirez, who's a much bigger cruiser way. And it kind of got you excited for this matchup. All of a sudden, Gio has been number one for the last three or four years. All of a sudden, people say, no, Benavidas is number one now. The Benavidas is the favorite. Who do you make him favorite for that one? Melvita's light. Oh, they're both power punches, as you see, and what's been significant about Benavidas is he's carried his power upwards. I mean, I'd even say he'd be a dangerous small heavyweight. Agreed. Agreed. 100%. For who's the favorite? Well, Michalion had a couple of decent rounds there in the middle, but was ground down by Gio. Is that Gio's being a swim? Yes, I think it is. Yes, I think it is. That's a very good point.

43:10Because Michalion is a very good boxer, a very strong man. And he suddenly had nothing left after giving a bit in the seventh and eighth. I think it was the ninth, wasn't it? That a pretty short was the ninth round. And then he suddenly didn't have enough left. God, who's the favorite? I think it's probably Benavidas just, but it wouldn't surprise me if we get a couple of fights with these two, a couple or three maybe. We might need... Because Gio hasn't looked like going against anyone yet. And Benavidas is so strong. Because that's a 12 round war. I believe a who have you got? You think Benavidas, yeah? 55, 45, Benavidas is just. It's been another week, another week of no announcements on AJ versus Fury, but behind the scenes, a lot seems to be happening between the power brokers, if you like. Garafay Davis, you've been writing a piece or you wrote a piece in the tenor graph that the fight could happen in December in Cardiff. Finishing Garaf, what can you tell us? Well, it's funny. I wasn't looking down at a rudeness right there too, because we have a terrible habit of recording this show. And like hours later, news breaks. Sometimes it's been a few minutes later. I was just checking my phone because few messages were dropping in. It's Tuesday morning in the UK as we record this.

45:21And I've been told to stay close to my phone for the last 24 hours. There was a cryptic, very cryptic Nelson Mandela quote from Eddie Herndt's Instagram saying, with a man standing on the top of the mountain saying the patience to succeed and all those things. My soundings are that they are moving ahead with it. They're getting the final pieces of the jigsaw put together. And finally, I mean, I wrote December the 4th or the 11th, which are both Friday nights for the fight to take place. They still want it to be in prime time in the US for Netflix. It's still about permits and timings in Cardiff. Webly has still been in the discussion in the last 24 to 48 hours. That might be what Eddie Herndt's hinting at. But as far as I understand it, my up to this point, I think it will be December on a Friday, on Netflix later at night, with

46:25potentially the roof closed at Cardiff. Can we put to bed then? Madison Square Garden, November, whatever it was? November 21st, 28th? Can we put that to bed? I don't think we can put... I think we can probably put the fact that the first fight between them, if they're going to be more than one, is not going to happen now in the United States. As long as this is finalised, and as I say, I'm not confirming the details I just gave. Those are the latest talks on going whenably still in operation. I don't think Eddie Herndt and Nancy Joshua are going to agree to go to America to fight. I just don't think they want to then. It's great. It's going to be in the UK, if it is in the UK. So I think the US is ruled out. I think that's right to point out and crossed out for now. I think the happy part of it is they're very close or we're very close to witnessing

47:26the fight we've all wanted to see for a long time, and it's going to be in the UK, and we're not going to have to wait months for it, if you know what I mean. It's going to be this year. It's a nice Christmas present, a nice way to end the year for most of us. Let's hear from... We've heard from them already. That was on Ryan Garcia, kind of. Let's hear again from Dana White. This time on AJ Fury, who spoke, they know quite angrily, if you like, about Eddie Herndt and saying that Eddie Herndt's doing damage to the promotion of the big fight. A guy who's supposed to be one of the promoters of the event, I've never seen somebody do more damage to a fight than this guy has done. Who's the... You're supposed to be promoting your guy, and then the busted up system and whatever. Right now you go wherever the money goes. Wherever the money is, right? It's one of the most fascinating things I've ever seen. So we'll see how this plays out. What's your old, so though, is it? Oh, I... Listen, at the end of the day, it doesn't change my life one way or another.

48:33So, but you got Tyson Fury, you got Frank Warren, got Eddie Herndt, got AJ, and you know, all these people that are looking at making a lot of money on this fight, and Eddie Herndt just keeps hurting the fight. The fight that should happen 10 years ago. I almost get the sentence from Dana White, that he's fed up with this. I said to Dana, when I sat down with him, I said, you look like you enjoy him boxing. It looks like you know, a new lease of life after so many years doing MMA, but this seems to be very frustrating to you. And in that interview, he did come for Eddie Herndt. He was very, very, very strong on Eddie. I do wonder what Dana's place is in this now. You know, it felt like for the last few months that Dana's going to be the lead promoter, and it's going to be Dana, it's going to be Dana. If it does come to the UK, do you still think that will be the same? Well, just to clarify, I mean, I've known Dana a very long time, probably

49:34back to 2003, 2004. And he's always loved boxing. And I know exactly where he's just sitting, the MGM Grand Garden Arena in the middle tears, right level with the ring. And he came to a lot of the big boxing events. He's a huge boxing fan from Boston, and boxing was his first love. So there's no question that he doesn't, that he isn't really committed to the sport. I think his argument, when you mention Eddie Herndt, his argument is, if you don't want to get this fight over the line, if you don't want your guy in there, go and do the event yourself then in the UK. If you say you don't want to organize the event, promote it. And he's saying, listen, there's so much money on the line. If you run it with your, with your paper view on to zone, they could go for Netflix, still. He's playing the big cards, isn't he? He's playing a Spoker game

50:34and saying, if you run it, you earn that for your guys. There's so much money on the table. And why aren't you taking your guide to the table? He's challenging Eddie's ego. And obviously trying to build up his own against Eddie, because they've got this rivalry. What will they do in the UK? I think they'll give Eddie Frank Warren, Frank Spencer Brown. I think they'll all have a place on the day is when that big fight happens. But I suspect he'll be there somewhere. Because it's going to be a Netflix show. It's going to have Turkey and L. Shakes Seller involved. We don't know who's going to be the actual promoter of the event. Well, it's Netflix and and and and and Seller and Turkey L. Shake. So it'll all come down to how they balance the egos when it comes to let's get the fight signed first of all in my view, the rather than worrying about where the promoter will be. If that isn't a part of the discussions in the promotion as well,
