FernGully Live-Action Movie in the Works

0:00On April 17th, Amazon MGM Studios just announced they're turning the 1992 animated classic Fern Gully, the last rainforest into a first-first Intua, live-action flick. Filmmaker Mary L. Heller, who helmed movies like A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood, is stepping up to write and direct this one. The original tale unfolds in an Australian rainforest, where a curious fairy named Krista shrinks a human intruder to her size, and they team up, against pollution's dark forces. Beloved voices from back then included Robin Williams as the wise-cracking bat, batty and Tim Curry, voicing the toxic villain, Hexas, all pushing that. Strong Ecovibe. Producer John Scheinberg says they're not stopping at the screen. They're building out the Fern Gully world with music drops, merch lines, books, and… Games to keep the magic growing.
