Fatal Lakeland House Fire: One Dead, Investigation Underway

It started shortly before 9.50 a.m. and Polk County Fire Rescue crews rushed to the scene. Firefighters split up with some battling the flames while others searched inside after reports of someone trapped. They found the person deceased during the search and got the fire under control shortly before 10.30 a.m. One victim was discovered outside and rushed to a local hospital. A firefighter also suffered minor injuries while working to contain the blaze. So far, no one knows what sparked the fire. Officials have not released details on the cause.
