Fatal Crash in Lakeland: One Dead, One Injured

Police say it happened on East Memorial Boulevard just before 10.45 pm on March 2nd. A silver GMC's Sport Utility Vehicle, driven by a 49-year-old man from Winter Haven, was heading east when a collided head-on with a bronze Ford. Sport Utility Vehicle. The Ford, driven by another 49-year-old man from Lakeland, veered off the westbound lane first. It struck a guardrail before crossing into oncoming traffic and slamming into the GMC. Both drivers ended up in the hospital with serious injuries. Sadly, the man from the GMC did not survive. His counterpart from the Ford remains under care. Lakeland police traffic homicide investigators are digging into what caused the Ford to leave the road. They are gathering evidence from the scene right now.
