The National Football League is expanding its global reach with the Atlanta Falcons set to play an international game in Madrid, Spain during the 2026 season. The matchup against the yet to be named opponent will happen at the massive Bernabéu Stadium, Europe's third largest venue with a capacity of more than 83,000 fans. This comes after the league struck a multi-year agreement to host more games there. Last season marked the NFL's debut in Spain, where the Miami Dolphins edged the Washington commanders 13-16 and over time before a crowd, of nearly 79,000. Fans turned out in huge numbers for that thriller, watching quarterbacks to Otago Veloa and Marcus Marriota throw for 394 yards, and one touchdown combined. It's part of the NFL's push to grow soccer stadium crowds into football lovers. This Falcons game is one of nine international contests planned for 2026.
