The Atlanta Falcons have decided not to tend a restricted free agent defensive lineman, Sam Roberts, meaning the 27-year-old will hit the Aussie Open Market as an unrestricted free agent when the new league year starts. Roberts joined the Falcons last September by signing off the Carolina Panthers practice squad. In five games with one start during the 2025 season, he posted 18 tackles, including six solo stops, one sack, and two quarterback. Over four NFL seasons with the Patriots, Panthers, and Falcons, Roberts has played in 20 games with just two starts showing flashes but not enough to stick long-term in Atlanta. The Falcons are reshaping their roster ahead of free agency. They plan to release wire receiver Darnell Mooney after two underwhelming seasons and cut veteran quarterback Kirk Cousins right when the new league.
