• 2011: she was diagnosed with a brain tumor that was wrapped around her vagus nerve - manages ability to speak, swallow, and eat
• Went through surgery believing she would never talk again
• Idea came to her while she was in recovery from her surgery to remove a brain tumor 
• Held every June in Milan, IL - June of 2024 will be the 13th run
• Goal:   Increase awareness and acceptance of autism - a neurological disorder that impacts 1 in 59 children
• Support local autism programs in the Quad Cities area        
• Daughter is autistic
• 3rd yr student at UIowa 
• In 2022 they became rental property owners
• Goal is to convert apartments into independent living units for autistic adults
