As we talk about Tom Brady and his comments on pro wrestling. And you're going to love what I have to say right here on the Busted Open podcast. This is the busted open podcast. One of the topics we're going to talk about today is Tom Brady and his recent comments and it's funny. I just put out, I quoted the video of Tom Brady making these comments will play it in just a second. And my response to my quote sheet was basically, fuck you Tom Brady. And the responses I got, and it's like, whoa, guys, we're, this is, we're having fun here. This is fun. But I'm glad that you're kind of bringing the fun back into pro wrestling. Well, well, is it fun or is it offensive, you know, that went when Tom Brady says

1:00something like that, like using terminology, like, cute, inscripted, and the word I never use when people refer to pro wrestling, which is the F word. Well, and, and I think that's why I gave the response that I did. I think it's more like a lot of people responded by saying, come on, it's a work. And I was like, all right, we know this, maybe it is, maybe it isn't. Let's have fun and let's enjoy it and let's see where the story goes. I think that's really the basis and the foundation of what I'm talking about. It's like everybody, to your point, the smart marks, trying to figure everything out before it happens. Like, let's enjoy them all. Are you saying that Tom Brady is orchestrating an angle right now? Well, maybe he is. Maybe he isn't, but my response is based on what he said. And my response to what he said is, fuck you, Tom Brady. Right. Because it's visceral. Yeah, and it's just, and, and we all know this. And probably everybody listening could relate to this as well.

2:02As wrestling fans, everybody kind of looks at your side eye. When you mention your wrestling fan, not so much in 2026. I think it's wrestling has become so mainstream. It's no longer that guilty pleasure. But like I know for myself growing up in Keith, when you were first getting into wrestling, whenever you mentioned your wrestling fan, you know, people looked at you a little side, I'd, you're writing the book of Busted Open, you know, better than anybody that disrespect that we got because only it was pro wrestling. If it was any other sport, we were talking about, we wouldn't have had the jump, the hurdles that we had the jump over. Right. That's right. And to a degree, even though pro wrestling generates money, so does the porn business, it doesn't mean that people who are in the porn business are looked at as paragons of society. So, you know, I still think there is a little condescension going on when, when you mention professionalism. Yeah. It's kind of like, oh, that's, that's something. You know, it's fake.

3:03Yeah. Yeah. I mean, it's not fake. It's predetermined. Yeah. It's choreographed. Because just using that word, Rob. Yeah. And we, we know when the industry not to use that word. Of course. But when you say that word, it's so disrespect. It is. People put their bodies online each and every time they step into a ring. So that when you say that word immediately, you're going to, you know, you know, you're going to grab the iron of the wrestling fan in the wrestling industry. Now, is that, was that Tom Brady's, you know, is that his goal? Probably, but at the same time, if he was, if this was an angle and he was going towards something for WrestleMania, which we're a month away now, would he use, scripted, cute and scripted? Yeah. Because cute and scripted word cute minimizes it. It's like it's a cartoon show. And we know you, not only do they put their bodies on the line, they put their personal lives on the line because they sacrifice so much of what other people just take for granted.

4:06Yeah. Being at your kids' birthday parties, for instance. Yeah. Yeah. The sacrifice of it all. But like, if he was, if this was a story going to WrestleMania, I don't think those two words would have been used. I think it would have been like, three words to your point though, maybe that's intentionally why they use them to throw you off the scent, you know, I feel like a lot lately with these angles is sometimes they overthink them a little bit, you know, and it's like, what comes to mind is the, I mean, this isn't quite that. Like the Seth Rollins knee injury angle where everyone was swearing up and down, no, he's really injured. He's really injured. This is how this is really, you know, and then they did the money in the bank cash in. So maybe this is of that mindset of like, let's make it like he really hates it. And then something, you know, I could see perhaps someone jumps him or something at a press at a non wrestling event to, to drive into it. But when I saw that, that interview, the most recent one with Tom Brady, to me, it's

5:10that, oh, he's working. This is a, this is a work, you know, like he's intentionally riling up a wrestling fan. That would be with the intent of working a WrestleMania or not. I don't know. But that is K Fave Tom Brady before we, before we talk more, if you can play the audio that went viral yesterday from Tom Brady, how many WWE wrestlers would it take to sack Tom Brady? No, they, all their stuff is so cute and scripted and they know what's going on in a football game. You don't know. Plus if I had a good offensive line, they'd punch those guys right in the throat and they'd be probably crying and, you know, there's no fake BS we do in American football. So for those guys, it'd be a whole different story for them. All right. Almost feels like he's taking a shot at soccer there, too. Like soccer does have some, I guess there's the fading injury in soccer. I mean, yeah, but they sell really well, right, right? It's cute, it's scripted, it's fake. Like those are the three big things that he is. And he's won a second about like, yeah, like American football players are tough like

6:13implying wrestlers aren't, you know, until, of course, he gets a face full of nist from Oscar. Exactly. But again, if this was gearing up towards an angle, first I just can't imagine and I could be wrong. I can't imagine Tom Brady stepping into a wrestling ring. Absolutely. Like, you know, we saw Bad Bunny do it. You know, obviously we've seen Pat McAfee do it. We've seen it time and time again. I can't imagine Tom Brady ever stepping into a WWE ring. Oh, see, the rumor I heard was that he was going to be in Saudi next year, jobbing for a Bravo Americano. Yeah. Well, listen, anything everybody, you know, once you have Saudi in there, anything good happened. You're right. No, I just, you're right to your point. I don't see him going to the performance center, taking bumps, learning, learning the craft. He's too, he doesn't care to do that. He doesn't have the time to do that, you know, and he doesn't have a passion or a love for this. Right, right. You know, Bad Bunny was such a big wrestling face still is willing.

7:14He was willing to sacrifice his time and go to the performance center and learn. Tom Brady's not doing that. So if you just have maybe like a face off with Paul Heyman, where, you know, or a wrestler or steps in and cuts a promo on him, okay, but he's never going to get physical. But again, if you're setting up for that, I don't know why, unless this is strictly from his mind alone, that he would use those key words that he used in the program. Yeah. And look, all of us go back to a place when we hear that. I mean, the first thought that came to mind was when I was in eighth grade at junior high school, 194 in Queens. And my social studies teacher knew I was a wrestling fan and tornted me and said, Ernie Ladd used to be respected when he was in a football player. And now he's a clown. And I was to this day, and I've met him as an adult, and he would, we were very cordial to each other. I'm still infuriated by those words. Yeah.

8:15I remember when LT was at WrestleMania and all the sports riders here in New York were saying that, boy, this is LT, one of the greatest NFL players of all time. Why is he tarnishing his image and his legacy? I remember the Daily News, it was like he was a first ballot Hall of Famer until this decision was going like that. It's like, why? And I feel like you wouldn't get that same response now. No. Like, if Tom Brady did decide to do something and to do this, I don't think people are going to be saying, well, he's not a whole of Famer anymore. He's embarrassing. Well, I mean, we live in an era where the president of the United States is a WWE Hall of Famer and appeared at a WrestleMania. And then Yahoo's being inducted, I understand, next in Saudi. Yeah, it's a different world now. But I'm just interested to hear from the nation what their thought was when they heard it. Because a lot of people may have laughed, a lot of people said, right, this is an angle.

9:16But like you said, Keith, it brought me back to grade school again, where it's like, these are things that I heard on a daily basis from people, and it really aggravated the hell out of me to the point where I hate Tom Brady. I've always, I listen, I'm a Cowboys fan, but I've always had a certain respect for Tom Brady. If this doesn't lead to something, and this is his true feelings, I kind of lost a lot of respect. However, there is a question I have. Who's this interviewer? Like it feels so much like a setup. Like go there and ask him a question about wrestling. Like we don't know who she is, has anyone identified her by name? Yeah, if we can find out who it is, assume, do we know who it is? All we know is that this, that audio came directly from sports illustrated. Okay. So it came from SI. So maybe somebody that's employed by SI.com. And maybe it's someone who is involved in writing about wrestling for them, or maybe that's a work too. Yes. Listen, we're just, we're watching Unreal.

10:17And Unreal could be pushing back the curtain or it could be a work to get us believe something that actually never happened to begin with. I don't know. It's interesting. I just know like you said Keith, it just, I'm angry. You know, for me, I laughed at it. I didn't take it so personally. I'm like, I'm with you guys in the sense we're growing up. I almost didn't tell people I was a wrestling fan just because I didn't want to have that conversation. Don't you know it's fake? It's like, well, Marvel movies are fake. Shut up. And now when I see someone say that, I just, I'm just like, clearly you just don't know what you're talking about. You haven't seen anything like you just assume it's the 80s stuff. So I didn't take it so personally. If anything, I kind of felt like Tom Brady, you got to work on your promo skills, man. You got to come up with some better heat. And then the BS, that's your knockout punch, is BS. Come on. You're going to have to do a lot better than that. It's funny, Rob, because you're obviously a lot younger than Keith and I.

11:21But like I know for myself, I did fight with people about it being real. Like people would say, this is fake. Right. I said bullshit. This is real. I would use examples that this is real. Tell me this is not. Well, and I did know the names of, in fact, in the movie The Wrestler, the original wrestler that Vern Ganya was involved with, there's a line about Mike D. Biasi dying in the ring. They list wrestlers who died, you know, a gonkel, ray gonkel. He didn't necessarily die in the ring. I think both of them might have died back in the dressing room. But it's Vern Ganya it's talking about, it's Ed Asner playing the promoter, talks about those who lost their lives for the sport of professional wrestling. And I would quote those same names. Yeah. And I would always bring up Ox Baker that he had killed men with his heart points.

12:22With his heart points. Yeah. Little did we know we were being work at the whole time. Yeah. Everything. That is a good point about our generational divide here where like I think I'm a generation younger than you guys. So it was already established as fake when I was watching. Like, you know, I never, I don't think I ever had a chance to assume it was real. So I could see for you guys how it's much closer to your heart. Well, well, you didn't have my grandparents who told me it was real every day. No, no, my parents, yeah, my parents were trying to get me to stop watching it. Everyone was like, my whole family was embarrassed that like, we all gathered together to watch the Saturday night's made event with Hogan and Andre and then they fell out of it and I was just hooked. I mean, and you're, are you from Brighton Beach? Yes. And my grandparents are from Brighton Beach. Yeah. And I can remember my grandmother and my aunt Yeta who didn't speak any English wanting to call the police because Bruno San Martino was being Pearl Harbor on television.

13:24Which meant not only did they think it was 100% legitimate, but they thought it was going on in Brighton Beach and that the local precinct could respond to it. Well, and people giving money to the sending money to the junkyard door because he thought he was actually blinded. Yeah. He doesn't need his family anymore. And look, there was the angle where John Tollis blinded Freddie Blassie with Montsell's powder and they actually arranged visiting hours at a hospital in Los Angeles so fans could visit a bandage up Freddie Blassie. Yeah. So there is always that and obviously we know that the audience was much different than by the time you were watching was probably mostly kids that were watching pro wrestling. But when I first started watching wrestling, it was like, it was like a bunch of a dozen bird sugars sitting at ringside watching wrestling guys with for doors and smoking cigars. I definitely want to get the nation in on this conversation because I want to find out what they feel about this whole situation with Tom Brady. And when they saw it, did they automatically think, all right, it's a work.

14:27Did they think that like you Rob, like did they laugh it off or did it really hurt them and like piss them off and bring back, you know, for me, I get that PTSD of being a wrestling fan as a kid being made fun of because people are calling it fake coming up next more of our conversation on Tom Brady and a very special announcement for the nation. You're one stop shop for all right, is that I and that's right for wrestling nation 24 seven channel 156. So let's go out to John and Tennessee. What's going on, John? So first off, being from Tennessee, I'm Brady is nothing compared to Peyton Manning. I'm okay. I'm new Super Bowl. He has. But two, it's okay that he uses that F word because I am married to a lady who uses that F word quite often when she found out I was a wrestling fan. And it doesn't do anything to me because she is a massive hallmark Christmas movie fan.

15:28And that's all her time and time again, I can predict the end of a hallmark Christmas movie 10 to 10 years and I could any wrestling match. Yeah, but John, let me ask you this. So what's what's your wife's name, John? Casey. Casey. Okay. What's her dress? We can have the nation bombard her with hate now. Now, John Casey wouldn't happen to be nearby. Would she? She is not. Okay. That's unfortunate because I would have to think though for you to marry Casey and for you to be in love with Casey, even if she wasn't a wrestling fan and thought that it was fake, because she loves you and respects you, that she respects how much wrestling means to you and wouldn't say that in front of you. She actually has, but like we watched the rumble together and she was pretty tight in with it. Well, I recommend that, you know, the equivalent of pre-cainer for people who are marrying wrestling fans. Yeah, there needs to be like a notary of public, like you need to get something notary

16:32of that. So, John, the chic, does Casey still use the word fake around you when it comes to wrestling? Oh, 100%. Divorce her. And I am not an advocate of divorce because I've had to go through it twice and it's got wrenching. John, I think it might be time for you to move on. That's here. How long have you been married? Almost a year. I see. You can get it now, no, you can get it now, and it now, John, and it now, John, she is Casey. It's not the one for you, John, unless you can recite all of Hulk Hogan's defeats for his championship brains. She is not the one. I want, you know what, John, the next time you call in, I want Casey to call in with you, because I want to give her a piece of my mind. Note this respect to you, John. I love you. And you're a nation member and you're smart. I got to be honest with you, dude, somebody in your family or one of your friends should have had this conversation with you before the I do.

17:34Casey is not the one for you, John. I screwed up. Okay. Yeah, you fucked up. You fucked up. You fucked up. You fucked up. At least he real. Look, he real. He realizes it now. I mean, just get it. No, that hasn't been a year. He could get out. Scott Fritz. Find himself a perfectly fine wrestling fan in his time, his whole time. Yeah, I've always had great luck with them. Yeah. Listen, I'll bring in the lovely violeta, my wife, not a wrestling fan, not interested, but because she knows it means so much to me, respects it. She would never use that word in front of me because she respects me too much. Yeah. You know, like Rob, you're a big metal fan, right? Like if you met that significant other for you, then was it a metal fan? That person would not disrespect me, because knows that that's the foundation. Oh, yeah. Who you are, Rob. I do have a significant other, and they do respect that I like, but I accept it.

18:35I love it. But isn't your significant other a metal fan? No, no, no, no. I didn't realize it. We share our love for pop music for Lady Gaga, right? Okay. But with that for disrespect, metal. No, no, no. Exactly. And I got him into wrestling. So it's nice. So to me, Casey's got to go. Yeah. Sounds like Casey doesn't want to share your interests. It doesn't respect that. It doesn't respect them. It doesn't respect them. That's not even the sharing. It's not even the sharing. Rob, me and you, you and I, we could all be on different pages. But I respect you, Rob, I respect you, Keith. So if you're interested in something and you love something, And we respect John. Exactly. And I respect even more so. And that's why you're advocating for this. Yes, because he's a nation member, which means he's family. Somebody should have had that sit down conversation with John. It said, John, I got to tell you, Casey's not the one for you. John, we want you to get your lawyer on the line on a three-way call. And we'll talk you through this annulment. It's not going to be that hard.

19:36It's not. No, but I, you know, I really want to speak to Casey. Because I got to give Casey a piece of my mind. Am I wrong? No, you're not wrong. You're asking me, of course, you're not wrong. Thank you. I have some breaking news. I was hoping I was going to catch the sumo off his mark, but he's always on. So sumo is always on. Blah, days, the sumo, blah, we have some breaking news. Yeah. There's a couch in the room. You could sleep on. Oh. And there's a party for you to go for free at Friday, April 17th. And then if you just go home, I could just come for the bus and open. Yeah. You don't have to go to maybe. I can give a shit less. What I care about is that on Friday night, and it gives you plenty of time to go to WrestleCon and all the other events that are happening as well.

25:48He's invited. And I understand that TKO, while we've been on the air, just restored their policy that allows wrestlers to put front face locks on anyone who besmirches the business. So Tom Brady may be in trouble if he goes. Yeah, everybody talks Rob about Dr. D slapping John Stassel. Nobody talks about Hulk Hogan putting a front face lock on Richard Belzer. Belzer even says, the Hogan bought him a house with that. Yeah. And I think John Stassel probably was able to buy a house as well. Yeah. Yeah. Although I don't think Dr. D was the one who physically paid out the money. No. Hogan, on the other hand, probably could have afforded it at the time. Rob, I want to talk to you about the stunner. Because metal injection was such a huge brand and now you branched out to the stunner. When did you start? What made you make the decision and how can people get involved? Oh, well, thank you for the platform here.

26:49Yeah. I left metal injection in 2022. I sold to Sony Music. And so I had a lot of free time on my hands. And I started just traveling by the way, Rob, after hearing that, Rob's buying lunch for us. By the way, well, it's been four years now that the economy's not doing anything else. That's true. That's true. And he has bought me a few meals at Giovanni's Brooklyn Eats on Prospect Avenue. And so he may have spent a lot of his money. Yeah. Okay. So go on. So I had a lot of free time on my hands. And this was like, you know, AW is blowing up. I started just traveling to go to payperies and stuff and I realized like, you know, I'm I've been a lifelong wrestling fan. I want to get involved in wrestling media. And you know, you obviously have a great platform here and busted open. There's a lot of wrestling media. So I wanted to kind of stand out a little and do something different. Not I don't really want to do a dirt sheet. So me and my good friend Josh Bernstein, who also just a huge career in the music business,

27:54we were like, we're the ones that like, hey, do you want to go to the show? It's coming into town. Let's go to AW. Let's go to WWE. We go to house shows or whatever. So we would always be like, we'd be working at competing websites. We'd be like, we need to work together. And like one day we're going to work on a wrestling website. And it went through many iterations and many different pitches and we had different people come in people that you might recognize, but we don't need to get into that because you know, things happen and people fall out. But what we landed on here is the stunner, which is a, we're trying to explore the intersection of pop culture and pro wrestling. There's so many great clips from recent years from back in the day of wrestlers on Letterman or Letterman Tungman. How much he loves Bobby Heenan or wrestlers in beer commercials or what have you. And we want to spotlight that to show that there is a fun side to pro wrestling. I was watching it like you had an outtake of Nikolai Volkoff and Mean Jean Oakerland. Exactly. It's like, and it's just, and again, we talked about that earlier, that word fun. Yeah.

28:55Let's have fun again. Exactly. And speaking of Mean Jean Oakerland. Do you know the stunner recently ran an article about Mean Jean Oakerland's career as a teeny-bopper heartthrob in South Dakota and Minnesota? Yeah. So a big part of it is exploring the connection with pro wrestling and the music business and how a lot of these guys like Jean Oakerland broken through music and Jimmy Hart broken through music and then they got into wrestling. So it's just, it's the entertainment business, you know. And so we've been really exploring that on the website, on our Instagram, the center network. And also we're doing a new content, our own original content where we interview people. I love interviewing people and getting to know their personality. I'm not trying to get like a dirt sheet scooper or whatever. I want to know, well, what are you listening to? What got you into wrestling? What kind of pro wrestler gets you excited? What kind of wrestler? So you leave the interview being like, hey, that wrestler is a really cool person. And I didn't consider that, you know, all I know is they're on screen persona.

29:57What's their off screen persona like and really helped to get to know that. And I've been having a lot of fun. We've been going to wrestling shows. We were at ACW last week with you. We saw you there. And this weekend I'm going to be at Fight Factory in New Jersey and just hanging out and sometimes that let me get involved in the in the story lens, little, let's kind of exciting. But no bumps. No bumps. Okay. Yeah. Stay safe. But I like that because I think one of the things and Keith, you know, this and we'll talk about the book project that you have working for Busted Open is that I think one of the things that I tried to do here with pro wrestling nation 24 seven and Busted Open is that, you know, you know, bully Ray, the wrestler and Tommy dreamer, the wrestler and more Henry. But now you know them as a person like when you listen to them every day and hear the shows with Nick them at their bishop, Dyer, now you know, they're interest, what music they like, what movies they like. And it's kind of like your friends with them. So when you're listening to them in the morning, it's kind of like your bullshit and with your friend about pro wrestling. And I think that's, I think that's kind of gets lost somehow and I feel like you're right.

31:00And this is not a knock on a lot of websites and things like that, but it's, you're not going for that gotcha question where you're trying to get clickbait. And I've always said, you know, Busted Open's been around since 2009 and we've done that without spoilers and we've done that without going that deep into that. There's a way of doing it. And at the end of the day, it's entertainment. It's fun. So I like that. And we're all wrestling. So why do things to tear down the business? And that's been happening way too much lately that it's just like, it's like everybody's trying to tear their trying to put themselves over, which is where I'm trying to put the wrestling. My version of a gotcha is asking sky blue how she got together with Kyle Fletcher. Like that's the guy. Like, how did you guys meet backstage, you know, right, which is not a, a, a scandalous question. No, no. But it's natural. Yeah. 32:02bumps in the ring. Of course, you're going to be drawn to each other. And if I can mention one more thing, in addition to the stunner, I have this podcast I'm doing that I think your fans would really like tails from the attitude era. I do it with Tommy Blacher. He's the former writer for WWE. He, he's the guy that when Vince Russo left, Vince McMahon called me, he's like, I need you to come in. I need your help because he met him two weeks prior at a Conan taping. Tommy used to be a Conan writer. And Tommy wrote for WWE for a year and a half during 99 2000, all the big angles. He was the guy who pulled out May Young's hand in that infamous sketch. So we go through every episode of Raw and Smackdown on the pay-per-views. I do a kind of a recap and then he provides the writer's point of view. I don't think there's been a show that where the writer talks about it and we get a lot into the psychology and the match finishes and why certain angles went the way they were. And then he talks about certain pitches he made that got shot down or a pitch that he made that once it happened, it didn't quite happen the way he wanted it.

33:05So it's very fascinating if you enjoy backstage stuff, again, without too much gossip more about philosophy and writing and wrestling, they could really enjoy tales from the attitude area. Sonny Kiss ranks the new metal big four and talks about performing with Limp Biscuit. Yeah. Swurve Strickland talking about his AW entrance theme hit different that he worked on with Ray Kwann. Yeah. When Swurve released his new song, I got the first interview with him about it, just asking why he changed the song. He said he wanted to just always wants to keep it fresh. And yeah, he got Ray Kwann from Wutengland to be on the song, which I think that's really cool. Yeah. I have a metal question for you. You're all time favorite metal band. My all time favorite metal band. I mean, it's so hard to like distill into one. I would go to Meshuga just because that's the one that would best kind of exemplify the style that I like. But I mean, I can't really say Metallica isn't that, you know, like Metallica meant so much

35:10to me. And who essentially got me into that really pro wrestling got me into metal watching DDP come out to the Nirvana sound alike in WCW made me check out Nirvana. And then when sting started doing search in destroy, I'm like, all right, I have to go beyond entertainment. I have to listen to like old Metallica and really, really get into it and then I got obsessed. So absolutely. It's such a big part of wrestling we talk about all the time that that connection is so deep when it comes to music and pro wrestling. And of course, the big thing Keith, you're working on the busted open book. Yes, I am. And this is the one, I mean, I've interviewed virtually every person who hosted here. I've interviewed, I think everybody who's been a major producer here, and I've interviewed a lot of the people in the nation. It's a very comprehensive book and I interview your brother, I interview your wife. The one thing we really do need, and again, I'm only on chapter five, when we talk about
