Ex-Gamekeeper Convicted of Murder, Plans Appeal

David Campbell shot Brian Lowe, age 65, on a remote track near Aberfeldy in Perthshire on February 16th, 2024. He fled the scene on his wife's electric bike, ditched the weapon which has never been recovered and swapped the bike's tires to hide evidence. Both men once worked together at the Adradinata State, where Campbell served as head gamekeeper and Lowe as a groundsman. The judge described the killing as a shocking act against an unarmed victim, while prosecutors called it a calculated execution by a skilled shooter. Police Scotland initially mishandled the case by treating Lowe's death as a possible medical incident or fall, delaying the crime scene lockdown and forensics for days. Shotgun pellets were later found in his wounds during autopsy, confirming gunshot trauma to the neck and chest. Campbell criticized investigators during his arrest and trial for their early errors.
