There’s a growing trend that whenever there is an attempted or successful terrorist attack, a politically motivated attack, a school shooting, or other heinous public crime, we debate the party affiliation of the perpetrator, the weapon of choice, and the nature of the target. But what we all fail to notice is that most people who sink to the level of murder or attempted murder usually have rap sheets of “lower” crimes and other warning signs. Rather than tear each other down over politics, we need to start asking why these people, known wolves, as my friend Patrick Poole calls them, are not locked up. In this special episode, I discuss how “rhetoric” on both sides is not responsible for their respective crazies who try to murder. The only problem is when people like Maxine Waters make specific threats to get in public official’s faces and swarm them with a “crowd.” That is not a rhetoric problem; that is a direct threat. In this case, as with the Scalise shooting by a Bernie supporter, it’s nobody’s fault. It’s a criminal justice problem.
