War Secretary Pete Hegseth announced this morning that an American submarine had torpedoed an Iranian warship, sending it to the bottom of the Indian Ocean off the coast of Sri Lanka. This was the first time a U.S. sub had sunk an enemy ship with a torpedo since WWII. A U.S. Navy ship also intercepted a missile targeting an airbase in Turkey on Tuesday. Turkish authorities summoned the Iranian ambassador for answers about the apparent strike. Meanwhile, the State Department reports that 17,500 Americans have been safely returned from the Middle East. Secretary Hegseth also announced today that American and Israeli forces would pursue total dominance of Iranian airspace and completely destroy Iran's military capabilities. Starting last night and to be completed in a few days, and under a week, the two most powerful air forces in the world will have complete control of Iranian skies, uncontested airspace. Hegseth noted the nearly unlimited stockpile of precision bombs at the military's disposal, dismissing concerns about the munitions supply running out if the conflict goes long. Meanwhile, Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Dan Raisin Kane noted the number of ballistic missiles fired by Iran has dropped by 86% since the initial strikes. Pentagon has released the names of four Army-reserved soldiers killed in an Iranian attack and co-weight over the weekend. Daily Wire Foreign Affairs reporter Cassia Kiva reports. According to the Pentagon, those fallen include 35-year-old Captain Cody Acork, 42-year-old Sergeant First-class Noah L. T. Jens, 39-year-old Sergeant First-class Nicole M. Amor, and 20-year-old Sergeant Declan J. Coady.

3:09All four soldiers were supporting Operation Epic Fury. The Department is continuing to investigate the incident that occurred in Port Shawiba, Kuwait, during an unmanned aircraft system attack. Two other service members were also killed in the attack, but have yet to be identified publicly. White House press secretary Caroline Levitt said President Trump will attend the dignified transfer of the soldiers' remains when they return home. Several key primaries were held yesterday that have already shaken up the midterms, especially in Texas. Daily Wire political reporter Cameron R. Cant has the breakdown. State Senator James Tolerico defeated Congresswoman Jasmine Crockett in the Democratic Senate primary, winning 53% to 46%, with 83% of the vote in, and will advance to face the eventual Republican nominee in a race the Cook Political Report rates as likely Republican. On the GOP side, Attorney General Kim Paxton, and Senator John Kornin failed to clear the 50% threshold, sending their Senate contests to a May 26 runoff, after Kornin led with about 43% to Paxton's 40%, while Congressman Wesley Hunt tripped on third.

4:14In another major upset for-tour congressman Dan Crenshaw lost his Republican primary, and Texas's second congressional district, to state representative Steve Toth, who won 56% to 40.5% with 94% of the vote counted, marking when the most significant incumbent defeats of the cycle, and underscoring continued shifts within the Texas GOP. As a side note, Texas District 21 selected World Series champ Mark Tashara, for a major league first baseman. Three police officers who stopped the mass shooting in Austin over the weekend are expected to face a grand jury. Daily Wire senior editor Joel Needler has the details. In Jagged John was the lone suspect in the shooting that took place outside of a bar in Austin, Texas early Sunday morning, and although he was wearing a sweatshirt that read property of a law, his exact motives are not yet known. And John killed three people and wounded 13 others with what police described as an assault rifle before officer shot and killed him, stopping the rampage. The officer's legal counsel criticized the secretive Texas grand jury process, arguing that prosecutors control the evidence presented and are not required to show exculpatory material. Nikita Beer, the head of product at X, said quote, During times of war, it is critical that people have access to authentic information on the ground. With today's AI technologies, it is trivial to create content that can mislead people. Open AI and CEO Sam Altman are under fire for agreeing to allow the Pentagon to use chat GPT for classified work. After initial blowback, Open AI revised its agreement to forbid the war department from using its tech for domestic surveillance. As a quick note, fully automatic firearms or machine guns fire continuously as long as the trigger is held, stopping only when released or when ammunition runs out. While Americans can legally own certain machine guns, federal law banned civilian transfer of those manufactured after May 19, 1986, sharply limiting the supply. The proposed West Virginia bill would create a state agency to transfer state-owned machine guns, including those made after 1986, to qualified residents. Bars would still have to pass the federal background check required for machine gun ownership, but have passed the bill could test some arguably vague language in federal firearm law. Some state Democrats have voiced opposition to the bill, leaving its fate to lawmakers and potentially the courts. And Starbucks is planning to open a new corporate office right here in Nashville.
