EU Sanctions Chinese, Iranian Firms for Cyberattacks

0:00On March 16, the European Union has imposed sanctions on two Chinese companies and one Iranian firm for carrying out cyber attacks on member states. The targeted groups are Integrity Technology Group and ANGZONE Information Technology from China, plus Emanet Passagad from Iran. Integrity Technology stands accused of breaching more than 65,000 devices across six EU countries according to officials. Emanet Shun provided hacking services focused on critical infrastructure, and the EU also listed two of its co-founders individually for their roles. Meanwhile, Emanet compromised advertising billboards to push disinformation during the 2024 Paris Olympics. These measures include asset freezes and travel bans for those involved, while barring EU citizens and businesses from sending any funds their way, signaling a firm stand against foreign cyber threats.
