Essential Closure

About this episode

Men tend to think in terms of “moving on.” (Get past it, keep some distance, shut it down.) In some sense, “moving on” can be good. The mature man, however, moves on only after saying what needed to be said and doing what needed to be done. Though he can’t make everything right, the mature man brings all negative relationships to the best closure within his ability. Just as your phone’s battery is drained by open, unused apps, your soul can be drained by holding onto unclosed relationships. Here’s what you need to do: First, go and make it right with others. (The previous episode, Fixing Offense, will help.) Then, start think about your life differently in terms of your relationships. Start the practice of healthy closure.
