About this episode
Welcome to Season 4, Episode 1, of "Secondhand Talent: The Podcast"!!! We're so happy we're here and so, so incredibly grateful for all of your love and support along the way. On behalf of all of us here at Secondhand Talent, Steiner & Steener - WE LOVE YOU, FRANDS!!!
This week we have the pleasure of releasing to you Part One of the expansive and wide-ranging Secondhand Talent interview of drummer legend and extraordinaire: the one-and-only Ron Bruner Sr.!!!
Ron Bruner Sr., a native of Compton California, is one of the most notable drummers on the L.A. freelance music scene. He has over 40 years of live, session and studio drumming and has played and / or recorded with The Temptations, Gladys Knight, the Supremes, jazzer Gary Bartz and Diana Ross - to name just a few. Ron started the Miles Davis 70's tribute band “Strange Jazz Universe” some 17 years ago, with the understanding that “Music is ever evolving” - something Miles taught us and that Ron carries with him.
Ron Sr. also had his own band, Chameleon, a “disco fusion” group who in 1979 dropped an album on Elektra Records that was produced by longtime James Brown trombonist Fred Wesley. He is the quintessential “veteran of the scene” who turned his focus towards the future. His 3 sons, Ron Jr., Stephen a.k.a. “Thundercat”, and Jameel, are now each award-acclaimed musicians in their own rights.
