How much did it hit a whim? How much did it hit a whim? How much did it hit a whim? And with that, welcome to the Out of 10 podcast. My name is Michael Vallejo Sevilla, and I got to play it. I'm Sage. What's the recommended amount of debt-dedated wham I used to have to serve?
That video is 12 years old. 3.2 million views. Do you think that kid figured out what he needed? I wonder how that kid's doing. His name is Super Kai64, let's see, because they have a headband with their name on top. Right. But in Super Kai64, the top search is Super Kai64 now. Yeah. Doesn't seem like there's anything. Poor kid. Debt-dedated wham. Debt-dedated wham. Debt-dedated wham. Debt-dedated wham. Debt-dedated wham. Debt-dedated wham. Debt-dedated wham. I assume the kid's just trying to hide from it now. Yeah. Chase his gamer tagging on. It is Thursday, February 26. I'm still kind of sick. I don't know if the flu anymore, but I have a cough. So I keep getting tick-tocks saying I might have this thing called like a denovirus. I don't know if he's nuts. I don't know if he's nuts in your mouth. Got him. So I'm still using this Vick stick.
But yeah. Apparently it's like. Who's Vick? Why are you using his stick? In this Vick stick. You like fish sticks? This episode's not starting off well at all. No, it's not. Debt-dedated wham. Vick stick. Vick stick. I don't know why he gave us an African accent. What? What are you? Because I have Vick stick. All right. It is Thursday, February 26, and a fab already. So I think we still have a bit of a short episode. I don't think there's like too much to review, even though lots are going to come out. I do think there's a lot of... Yeah. I think next week, like Mitsuki's album is coming out next week. There'll be lots in the comments. I didn't listen to the Hilary Duff album yet. The only thing I saw was the one track where the melody interpolates Damit by Blink 182. So they're credited as songwriters. Oh. Yeah.
It's the same chord. It's the same melody progression as like, what does he's going down to a friend? So she's like taking the melody. So I think they're accredited about it. But yeah, I think we got a lot like today's 26th, so 27th. We got a shit ton. I think it's the big, the first big release weekend of the year in my opinion. We got Mitsuki's album, which you mentioned. We got The Mountain by Gorillas. We have Bruno Mars's They're All Mantic and then technically Blackpink comes back with their Deadline EP. Any album? Is it an album or a mini album or an EP? What? The Deadline? Blackpink? Yeah. It's a five track EP. Okay. Yeah, and like none of the songs are long. Like they're all sub three and a half, so what else is there? I think that's it in terms of the big shit, but there might be like some tracks that might come out tomorrow. But some stuff has come out over the past week, but yeah, three big albums and an EP coming
out. Diam. Diam. Diam. So, but I do have a bit of a backlog. So I'm getting worried. I was like, oh, I had nothing to listen to. And then the last three weeks, I'm like, I have too much to listen to. Yeah. Mine's not as long. I think I've been a little bit more selective in terms of what I love. I think you know, in January, the Daniel Harlem, I couldn't, I did listen to it, but I didn't, wasn't enough to give a rating. You know, for example, the couple you're flying, you know, fluttering EP's that have been around. Because I felt like using January, we like listen to more things because it's like, oh, listen to this band, just because it's getting good reviews, but it's a man I haven't listened to. So I have a lot of those albums. But then like, but like the J Cole album I haven't listened to, I've listened to the Joji album. Oh, yeah, I still have that one. I have like the Charlotte Day Wilson album that I did not get to, I'm a few others. Yeah. Oh, yeah, the Mandy Indiana one as well. Yeah, I've listened to that one, but it's really hard for me to review because it's I turned it on and I was like, this is not what I thought it was going to be.
Like, I saw the name Mandy and Deanna and I saw it's a noise rock thing and I assume some Midwest, like, I was assuming something that's like Midwest email or like at most kind of like a chat pile or something and it's like completely, it's like electronic music. It's good. Yeah. It's like, it's like pussy ride more than anything. Yeah. I did listen to, I think it was injury detail back in 2023 off. I've seen away, but I never bothered to kind of look into like the rest of the, like the, the tracks off that album and then listening to that one and listening to Erg. Erg. Yeah. Um, yeah. So, uh, it's, it's a tough listen to a very any normal person. Yeah. It's really weird. It's an album where I think in the end I can get the artistic merit of it, but I don't think I'd ever like, am I ready? Might be okay, but I don't think it's like an album that I could like recommend to people. Um, no. So what do you have to review? I got kind of, I, yeah, I have, uh, the fall off by Jermaine J.
Okay. Cool. I have an album in two EPs. So for albums, I'm going to review August Pontier, Pontier's everywhere isn't Texas. Oh, shit. Thank you. Yeah. Um, yeah. And then two EPs, I want to review the, uh, days of Ash EP by you two that came out on Ash Wednesday. Um, and it's so funny. The other EP I have, if you look at these two album arts that they're almost identical and it's called so much country till we get there by this band called Westside Cowboy. But if you look at both of these EP album arts, it's like the same fucking thing. Okay. So I have so much country till we get there and what's the other one? So much country we get there and then days of Ash by you two. Just look at these album arts and tell me they're not the same thing. It's just like I was like, oh, I was like, oh, these are the two that I'm going to listen to. Then I also, and I was like, wait a minute. They look exactly the same. It's probably like why it shows them. Uh, they're both like, yeah, like well, I mean, the so much country one is like a silhouette
of a kid. It's like a shot, a behind shot of like a kid aiming a sling shot towards the sky. But it's got like, you know, dark silhouette, blue sky, white cloud. And then the days of Ash EP is like a silhouette of them staring down at like the floor, the members of you two. And there's like a radic abstract, like white behind them. But they look very similar. Uh, okay. I mean, um, do you want to do a jacol first since you got one? Sure. I'll, um, I'll get into it. So this is the seventh and final studio album by actually is. Oh, it actually is. Yeah. Yeah. This is it. This is his last hurrah. North Carolina rapper. Wait. So before we get in there, before we get in there, like, why is it? I don't really know why that why I mean, is he playing or is he, is he pulling a logic? And he's like, this is it. And he's like, so whether, whether or not I believe him is a whole other thing because I feel like he might, well, he runs dream bill. I don't really know.
You can kind of tell like when you listen to any kind of jacol, he's always kind of torn about like, he's kind of like a thinking man's rapper, but he kind of, and I'll get into this for the most part. Um, like, I think he produces a lot of pretty decent stuff. And I'll elaborate that. I finished it off. You're reviewing his final album of his career. Look, so this is, it's a double album for the first one, first, first disc is 12 tracks, 48 minutes. And how second disc is 12 tracks, 53 minutes, uh, including like two bonus tracks. So all in, it's like 24 tracks, 101 minutes, or an hour and 41 minutes long, uh, it's a lot. I mean, I think, yeah, jacol fans will, I don't really know how many jacol fans, be honest, like true dedicated jacol fans. Yeah, it's like dedicated ones are, are a, yeah, a dime a dozen. I think a lot of people were expectant and that's the thing about jacol is that I, I have enjoyed jacol's work.
I think I've enjoyed enjoyed enough of his work, right? I think we've reviewed quite a bit since like hours for your eyes only up until his point. I would never call myself a big, big fan. I think that he puts out okay records, like decent to okay records, but might have like a good to maybe even like a great track in there, like from like she knows off born center to wed dreams and no role models off 2014 force hills. And I did like pride as a devil off from the offseason, KOD and for your eyes only. I mean, those are pretty forgettable albums in my mind. I don't know. I agree. So I'll start with like this one. And I think from the start, I think it's a much better, like all the two disc, it's the better one for sure. Like 29 intro, I think it's a really sick opening because it interpolates or I guess it samples Carolina in my mind by James Taylor, and it kind of looks at like J Cole from like a 29 year old rapper coming back to his city looking like look, I've accomplished
so much, but I'm hitting a crossroads in my life, right? Got a like my focuses in life are like my woman or his wife's career in a city while on the second disc with like 39 intro, it's like him a decade earlier and then like finding peace within himself, which is kind of sets the tone for the rest of the second disc. But the first half, I think has a lot of energy, it's got a lot of bite. I think two, six and poor thing are really good tracks while still being introspective. On its own, I think it's like, I think it's, I thought like that much better than like this too, but I think it's like a whole like numerical rating, almost on a whole numerical rating better than this too. I think, I think it is like a lot of really good stuff, but nothing particularly fantastic, which is like the biggest thing that's going to say it, that's like par for the chorus for J Cole. Exactly, that's classic, I think it's classic J Cole, it's good storytelling, it's a lot
about himself or he'll talk about himself in like the third person, and he locks in an idea, but sometimes overstays is welcome, a lot of these tracks are way too long, especially in the first half. Like there's like a straight up bad track on here that I actually really didn't enjoy it, it's Bunt's Road, Blue is Featuring, Future in Tams. And I think that the album, the first this starts pretty nicely up until like it reaches like half point down, and then I just really kind of slow this roll, the page falls off, it falls off, yeah, let out the let out is a legitimately good song. And I think it highlights, highlights a real key thing about J Cole is that he's able to combine like a really nice hook, good harmonies, being sung out, it's lyrically really nice, really good, it's offensive, it's got a good beat, good production, and it's got a like I said, a really good melody, but it's not a common, it's not common enough in an album
that it just sticks out, like it's like, wow, this is a good track, I would listen to this again, and he has a few of those in the first track, in the first disc. So I think with that in mind, the first disc itself, I give it like a 7.4, I'll give it aggregate after, like the average, it's got a nice handful and it's got enough to kind of go back to on its own, whereas the second one, the second disc, I think it starts off much slower, it's like a six minute intro, basically, I think the only standout track here for me is only you for reaching Bernaboy, but I think that's the case because it comes off more as a Dave, like a Santan Dave track, more than anything else, it's dark and motive reflective, accompanied by like these plucky guitars in the background, giving its nice moodiness, but I think this, this focuses more on like settling into like a more mature J Cole, and in some ways, directionally, he reminds me of J Z's last album, was it 444?
Oh yeah, I chewed up my wife, I'm sorry. I chewed my wife, I'm sorry. Okay, OJ, I've seen. I don't, I think for the most part, this second disc is just really, really slow and is almost like two J Cole, right? Like if that makes any sense, it's like the beat is just good enough, but it's so like mid tempo, and it's just J Cole kind of, you can just kind of imagine him hunched over on a chair with a mic at his mouth, but for like 53 minutes straight, and almost nothing changes, but you know, he's like thinking about something, it's like, wow, that's really clever, but the, but there's no, it lacks a lot of, you know, dynamics, it's not too high, it doesn't bring me down too low, it's really, it's really mid, and so I thought a funny, you know, even like the
interpolation of Jenny on the block on Man Up Above doesn't add any life to this because it is just a lot of like the same, and honestly, there's a lot of like, there's more hassle to get to the second half than I, than I thought it was, it's fine to work out to, I think overall, playing it loud, but when I noticed, when I slow things down, I got to, I love her again, once that track ends, it uses nearly exact same like beats per minute, and beat as what if the following track, and I'm like, I don't think that's entirely intentional because these are two distinct tracks that are made to sound almost identical, it's just like, uh, we'll just reuse this beat, and it's fine, but as a result, I'm left with something a little bit kind of boring overall, I don't think, I don't think there's any outright bad songs, other than I think Moda's one of they said, Blunt's Road Blues, but I don't think that there's a lot that there's particularly interesting aside from
the Bernaboy track only you, so for that, I think I gave this one a 6.6, damn, do you remember what you've given Jay Cole in the past? Something around there, it's always been around, like, he's never gone to close to any. Okay, so I think overall, like, I think it's a bit odd that there's a whole kind of thing about returning home, there's like a lot of the themes around being home, especially starting off the album would come back to Carolina, and his relationship to uh, to his place, I think it's the Fiatville. Yeah, I don't think he's he's good at a lot of things, but he's not good at creating a sense of like realistic imagery, there's no sense of like grounding, I think there's a lot of feeling around it, but if I were to like, I can't imagine this place from his point of view all that much over a career this long, and one that celebrated so much, like, if I were to think of a place of like a band or an act that has talked about a place that's
so specific, I think of like Arctic Monkeys talking about, like, they're in special into first two albums, Sheffield, there's nothing in fucking Sheffield, but what do they, what do they do? They get clever, and they talk about specific characters that grounds the songs in a very specific kind of grimy, small town UK, like, image, whereas I don't really get to get that with J. Cole at all, but I think this record overall, like both combined, is kind of emblematic about of J. Cole's career, there's a lot of like he works really hard, there's a lot of quality to it, but it's running in place, he's got a pretty decent floor and has some peaks here and there, but at the end of the day, I never, I'm never coming out of the of a J. Cole project, I mean, like, this is amazing, like, this is the best thing ever, I just think that in basketball terms, if I were to put it there, it's like a role player who put out like 26 and
three, but has a zero plus minus rating, and he never really affected the game all that much. Yeah, he just had a couple of key moments. That's true. Geez, this is my throat's all. Yeah, but I mean, it's so weird, because like, I don't know, yeah, like everyone likes this guy, everyone likes this guy, and everyone likes the moments that he had. Oh, shit, he won the game on a three, on a three pointer in the playoffs at one time. Didn't win the chip though. Yeah, I don't know. I always feel the same about J. Cole, yeah, I just like, I can hear, I can hear lyrical, technical flow, but I've never felt myself impressed, even though I've like, listened to, I think I skipped the offseason, because I think I was fine. I'm like, you know what, I'm kind of done, but you know, I think 20, I think, yeah, 2014, four sales drive, fine album. But like, for guys only in KOD, just kind of, I don't know. Yeah, so I mean, putting those two together,
the 6.6 and the 7.4, it averages out to 7.10. So, there you go, that's that, I mean, it's the most J-Cole rating I can possibly give it. It's fair. It's, yeah, unfortunately, it's a, it's a welding, welding finished to like an overall, like in my opinion, a fine career. It's like fine, a fine rating for a fine career that is perhaps overvalued. What's his, what's his NBA, what's the NBA comp of someone who's just like loved and revered, but the output is never there to match that. It's best, I don't know, it's best mediocre NBA players, I don't know. Yeah, like the best of like the middle of the pack. Oh, who's that dude who played for Atlanta Hawks? Kyle Corver? No, like late 2000s Atlanta Hawks.
Fuck, is it, it's a Joe Johnson thing about? I think it's Joe Johnson. Yeah, he's Joe Johnson. Yeah, he played for the Hawks from 2005, but he was like their franchise player at the time, but like, he wasn't, he didn't mean like he was, he got like 10,000 points in his career, but like, Atlanta was so bad at that point. It was like, this is, is Jake called the bar to Rosen? I think the Rosen, yeah, no, but like the Rosen made six all stars teams. In all NBA. No, maybe he's more like a, I don't know, like a Rudy Gay. No, because Rudy Gay's not, I feel like Jake calls it a bit better than a Rudy Gay. Like, there's somewhere above a Rudy Gay, and I want to say he's like, Rishan Rondo, but he's not Rishan Rondo. Yeah, Rondo's got, maybe he has to Rosen. He says like, he's not going to lead you, but he's a good player, right?
That's fair. No, maybe he's, don't want to support us. I'm going to say, yeah, I don't know, most mid NBA players, let me see. Yeah, I got to look up like the best of the middle, best average player. Um, in the league. Oh, I have one about in the league right now, and that's here. One guy says Harrison Barnes. Oh, shit, you know what? Ironically, oh, fuck, who is that guy who played for the Philadelphia 76ers, but before that, he played for the Clippers. The troll looks like you, Cole. The troll's people. I don't know who, I don't know who's on 76ers roster right now. Uh, who the fuck is this? Mobamba. Uh, let me look at the roster right now. This is going to be annoying. A whole lot of seconds. Yeah, like right now, he's on their team right now.
Is it, what the fuck is this guy's name? Andre Drummond. No, Paul George. No, Paul George is too good, because he was in a, he came back. Cause Lowry's on the 76ers, right? Um, Tobias Harris. See, I can't even think about him. Exactly. But Tobias Harris, he was, he was a very good player on the Clippers before getting traded, and he got like a really good, like a massive payout from the Philadelphia 76ers. But he's just like not great. He's just very good. That's where I'm landing on. Okay. What about NHL compares? Oh. Ooh, Anton Bolte got.
You know what I mean? Like, the A-Train had, the A-Train had his moments. Like Mark Recky? Mark Recky's like, no, and for some people, that's the thing, Keith, yeah, I think they're kind of the same player. Yeah. Chris Kelly. Oh, no, no, no. No, Chalios is like, but he's good for like a good, no, Chalios is like, uh, like, I don't know, I'm trying to think of like a dude who's like in his 50s, still putting out like critically acclaimed music, you know? Bloods. Yeah. Cause that would be yogurt too. Yogur and Chalios would probably be. Yeah, but yogurt still, I think seen as one of the goats. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Right, I think like Kachuk and Recky, if you were like, watching at the time at their peaks, you're like, they, they were good. But like, were they the best players on their teams? Or were they like, all stars? Maybe not every year. And I feel like Jake Cole. I want to say kind of the same. Good one.
There was 2000s, uh, Dallas stars. Oster. You're here. I was like, you're you letting it. Yeah. I think that's exactly what you have had. Letnans like secretly like in a meat like one of the best two way players of all time. Like he has a much a silky awards. What about Brendan Moro? Brendan Moro is pretty good. Brendan Moro is not bad. I think that's a good one. Cause Moro made a team Canada. Yeah. And that's the thing. It's like, um, there's a door. No, I think there's a door is like, no, I couldn't. Well, maybe like a Jamie Lagenbrenner. Yeah, like a Langan Brunner Newman. I kind of did. Cause I got traded one for one one year. Yeah. No, not a Sean Van Allen. Sean Van Allen's kind of. Sean Van Allen's would know. He's two. He's too low. Jake Cole's better than that. Yeah. Could I do like a Marty Terkel? Sure. No, but like, I, that's the thing. Is that like, I think of we're talking about like modern, like 21st century
gold tenders that were good. Marty Terkel was good. But I think, but I think like name wise. He doesn't recognize as much as Jake Cole would be in the rap game. Uh, yeah. You've got to do like a, I'm getting a buck off or something for a goalie. Ooh, covele. Like a very talented player, but never kind of reached it. I guess so, yeah. Cause when you look at coveleves, stats, uh, he's like secretly goat, but like, you know, you wouldn't think of him to be that good, but he actually was that damn good. What about like Tom Barrassa? Tom Barrassa, like the goalie? No. Yeah, no, no way. I don't know. Cause it's like whose name is much better than their output. All right, and I think that like coveleve kind of fits that. It's like good brand name. Yeah, good brand. Maybe. And like the, it's like, uh, man, the, you know, like, the real ones will remember this, right? Yeah, but at the end of the day, it's like, I still remember him getting like fake slash
and then leaving like a sense out to dry. Oh, yeah, they're like one goal. Yeah, cause he tried to sell the template. Exactly. But he had like such silky mits, but did he really perform? Did he really perform? Dude, he had over, he had over a thousand points though. Different era. Yeah, but you're like, yeah, I'm not saying he's bad though. That's the thing like J Cole still. But like if you're looking at coveleve's peak years, that's in Pittsburgh. And he's not, he's not the best player on those Pittsburgh teams. You know, like, yeah, yeah. Like yogurt is the top player on that team. Um, I don't think we'll use back at that point. But, um, yeah, like trying to think who it, who else would have been on that team. But I'm pretty sure like coveleve would have maybe been like second or third on that team. Um, and it would have been like him. Yeah, I think Lemieux actually was probably back that year. So it probably would have been like, he probably would have been like third, fourth. It would have been like, yogurt, Lemieux, like Robert Lang, and maybe him.
But like, you're like, you're about like someone who makes the national team, but as like think about like the little degrosser, but they're like the, they're always, they're, they're always like a healthy grad. Mark, Mark still. No, no, Mark is not. Mark's on the jit though. He's like, especially is been like taking. So then the who, who is our, who is our scratch. That was, uh, that was like Sam had it. Mark, that was an old march on plate. That was the same minute. Sam, been it was our scratch. Yeah. J Cole is Sam minutes. J Cole, same age, in your old same minute. There you go. There you go, figure it out. Nice. You want me to review my stuff now? That we've gone through that. Yeah, go through it. Let's start with your albums and finish up with your piece. Yeah, so first album is August Pontier's debut album everywhere is in Texas. So August was formerly Allison Pontier and then in October announced that they were non-binary and then
changes their name to August which was more I guess gender neutral. But August has been around for the past like six years I think. August looks like if Raggedy Ann or the girl in the Wendy's sign like idolized Taylor Swift and became a real adult you know what I mean? Like if you look up August Pontier it has like the brightest red hair freckles on their face and like has a very country like old country aesthetic but their whole kind of stick is that they were born in Texas and moved to Brooklyn and they're kind of like you know making indie country folk or in like country indie pop indie folk with like a mix of both like with it's like Texan origin but like gay flavor now kind of thing. But August has been around for a while I think their first song
was one of my favorite songs in 2021 Cowboy and they released a few EPs over the last few years but it's taken five years for the debut album to finally hit. But yeah like August Pontier is kind of in this like middle zone between like anyone who likes Taylor Swift or Casey Musgraves will find something they like in August music it's very accessible country pop. I think I'm other groups that are kind of like um Lucius if you like Lucius for like the more uh indie folk vibe Lucius is definitely in that a conversation but very poppy with like a flavor of country um so this debut album is 10 songs 31 minutes so their outputs always like short um and again I've I think I've kind of mentioned in the past how like I'm a fan of short albums but I've been finding that a lot of short albums have kind of left me wanting more um this year
and I kind of feel the same about this um this album uh is really um strongly carried by August's vocals and it kind of reminds me of the Katy Tupper album where I think the vocals are the best part there are some nice hooks here and there but there are times where too many songs kind of sound the same um I think the sound is very front loaded I think um the best song is I'm crying are you and that's probably because it's just the most poppiest but I'll just play it cute it's very cute I'm trying to think of what this sounds most like um the actually the uh the chorus kind of gives me a bit of like ballad of show girl Taylor Swift stuff like there definitely is like a ballad like faintable philia kind of hook to it um I'm just getting here's the chorus like a light smearing of pearl Charles yeah
so yeah very catchy stuff with like a hint of in a country and indie folk in there um but yeah it's very it's a very front loaded album I find that the first four tracks are some of the best the world famous is a really nice very like soft spoken ballad country track um that kind of is just about how august wants to be world famous um and then ribbon and taxes is good handsome's a bit of it's it's a good song but it's kind of cringey because it just kind of talks about all the handsome men that are around so there's one part where she goes like Timothy Chalamet Jacob Allority Pedro Pascal and those are like leaders so she's like is that really what you said yeah they say yeah it's talking about like seeing a handsome boy at a party and then just at one point just named here we go
oh sorry it wasn't Pedro Pascal was Oscar Isaac my bad but it's a fun track besides that weird thing we're like what the hell and then I'm crying are you which I played earlier is the best um but then the next kind of five tracks are very sad girl country ballads where there's not a lot going on melody wise it's really just somber songs with like a country flair that are really just led by her by their vocals kind of like how some of the Katie Tupper stuff from earlier this year kind of just like it's a lot of blue I'd soul were Katie sounds amazing but like I can't differentiate song by song you kind of get that with tracks five to eight on this album um bloodline which is really kind of to me the last song it is it sounds very similar but lyrically it's a little darker it's kind of talks about how kind of based on you know their situation in life they think they're the end of their
families bloodline because they're non-binary like plan don't have don't have plan F kids uh right lesbian like like non-binary lesbian doesn't plan F kids um so it kind of is like this cheery song where well it sounds like like you know august's voice sounds very cheery but then lyrically it's probably one of the hardest hitting songs of the year um and I was like okay that's pretty neat um so I respect that but um I kind of I do like this out my do think that I could easily recommend this album to a lot of people know what it's very very accessible um but because of the lull of the second half I do think that august has done so many good tracks in the random stuff that they've released in the last five years that are way better I get that they've probably bundled this together for like a theme um to kind of you know make this a stronger package that means something to them but you know there's songs like cowboy songs like autopilot from 2022 songs like skin from 2024 that are way better 2021 bro like the pandemic march 2021 so almost
five years yeah um but that was one of my favorite songs that year um so yeah I think it's a good album I think in the end I am reading it maybe higher than it should I will give just because of the weight of the first tracks so I'm gonna give it about a seven and a half I kind of have it kind of the same as where I have the kitty tabra album where I think they both are short albums where I kind of wish there's a little bit more and the same me saminess of it kind of brings it down but vocally both very strong albums so yeah 7.5 for august pond yays everywhere isn't Texas but I recommend it I think a lot of people will find a couple songs they'll really enjoy out of it very accessible um I can definitely see like august pond they being like the seven o'clock like player like a city folk um and then you want me to go that's that's really specific yeah do you want me to do westside cowboy or you two I think a flip of coin because I can't tell the difference oh no does praise quadro oh I'll do you too got torsay so that's what it was days of ash
EP by you two I don't think people are very excited about where you start getting into it yeah can you do the review in an Irish accent oh no what was the thing yesterday last week when we were talking no who were talking about no a new dad new dad how we thought new dad was Scottish because I'm just no I'm a new dad oh days of ash EP so you two um this is the so they were at least like weird things over the last few years like they released songs of surrender which are just re-workings of a lot of like basic greatest hits re-working so they haven't really released anything since songs of experience in 2017 and I don't remember that um I don't remember either I remember songs of innocence which was before it which is the one that got thrown into everyone's apple music or their their iPhones yeah but really I don't think you two's dropped anything I mean you can argue that like yeah there there's three albums behind
that don't really aren't really good but I do think that they haven't really released anything that like as memorable memorable to me since Nolan and the horizon in 2009 um they have like magnificent and a few songs on that but like maybe how does mantle an atomic bomb in 04 like vertigo and um like you have on your out on your Spotify sorry like I have how to reassemble an atomic bomb what is this I don't know what that is maybe like a greatest hits thing or like a it's 10 tracks I don't know it made it's a compilation from 2024 maybe it's like b-sides oh yeah how does mantle into um oh it's just remastered yeah it's it's a it's a it's a 20 and a anniversary uh thing um so days of ash is really their last yeah they're they're the most like new material in like nine years so this came out on ash ones day which is why it's called the days of ash and they're originally supposed to they originally actually were supposed are like I think they are still going to release
an album later this year but they were like this has to go now because um these this basically is like a mini protest um album yeah the first song American obituary is actually pretty good uh but it like specifically references how like america's dying and like people need to rise up and then they like specifically mentioned Renee good and everything like that so it's very like anti-ice um so I'll play it um it seems pretty servicy at first but I do think the chorus is pretty good wow we ended just a flip break bar
I forget how long it takes to get to the chorus, but I actually think here we go. I don't think it's not a bad hook. It's like fine. Can I be on it? Yeah. Hi. Do you know like when you go to a music festival and it's just, there's a certain type of fan who's just like, man, there are no rock bands anymore. And then you're this, they're like, oh my god. And then like they show up with their t-shirt and their cargo shorts and hat that this doesn't fight fit and they haven't washed them a while. Yeah. And they like wear their glasses backwards. Oh yeah, yeah. Hopefully that. This is a song. This is, this is, this is it for them. Yeah.
This is like, they're back. They're fucking back. And arms are crossed and they're nodding their heads a lot. And I will say like this, this, this, this, this EP does seem like more focused. I do think that you two kind of need like, you two excels when there's something to actually sing about, right? I think it's, this EP, like, met like musically, may not be the greatest thing you've heard. This year, but I do think like, lyrically it is something that we need a big band of like this, you know, rep, you take classic reputation to come in. Like, I don't spring soon had the anti-i song like a few weeks back. But I think we need like some of these bands to really be like, hey, like fuck, what the fuck's going on. So there's another track that I like called The Songs of the Future and like, they, they they sing about, what's your name? Sarana. I can't pronounce her last name. She's the Iranian girl who got beat, I could die from beatings from like the, the police force in Iran. And then there's out of, uh, I can't pronounce it like Hathaline.
He's the guy who, um, he's the Palestinian documentary, um, who got shot by, uh, Israelis. Like they reference that stuff. So it's a lot of like political like, this is what's going on. Like, we're fucking tired of it. You guys need to do shit. Um, so lyrically there's a lot that's good here. I do think that, um, that's why they're like, we got to release this now like fucking the world's being like, shit, we have to like release these tracks so people can, you know, resonate with it. Um, and then there's one song, wild piece, which is just like a one minute poem, um, spoken by an African woman who's part of like this, uh, what is she part of? There's like an African super group, um, I forget what the, yeah, I for, uh, no, no, no, no, it's the last song, um, I don't know, it is, is it Adiola? Yeah, Adiola, I think she's part of some like African, yeah, I think she's, um, world music, like African group formed in Africa and it's like a bunch of women from different
African countries who have formed the Supergroup. So she is like, basically, it's a spoken word poem by this Israeli poet who apparently is like super influential that like even the Pope referenced in his speech earlier this year. Um, and then there's a lot, there's a, the last song with, uh, Ed Sheeran, um, it's pretty whatever. I think it's like one of the most whatever tracks on the on the evening. All the girl. Yeah. Uh, let me swing and play the chorus. Yeah. It is more Irishy than the others, for sure. Um, where's the chorus? It's kind of doesn't fit with the rest of the EP. This is definitely a bright track to like, end it, but like, it's too, yeah, it's very
like that script is ripping off YouTube. It's this very like charity song to me, yeah, you know, it means very cold play, cold, it's cold play charity track to me. So it's, it's okay. It's fine. It's not, but I just think that it's too like uppity, bupity compared to like the more angry, like what the fuck's wrong with the world that the other tracks have. Um, but you know what? I don't hate this EP. I do think from a literal point of view, it is fairly important for like the time it's that it makes sense that they're like releasing this EP now, and they're going to release rest of the album later. Um, I'll give them the credit for that, and it doesn't sound, it doesn't like, I know you're mentioning like, yeah, this is like the dads in the, you know, we're in the cargo shorts and like, Oakley sung last week, like, this is rock, rock is back. Okay.
I definitely like give, yeah, like those people will resonate with this, but I don't, like, I hear this and I don't sound that YouTube's washed up. I'm not like hearing this going like, bono, doesn't sound good, he has to stop. I'm hearing the edge and his, he sounds fine. Like they sound fine, right? Um, they don't sound washed up. They don't sound like Molly Krue or Guns and Roses or something like that. Um, those are extremes, but you are right. You are right. It doesn't, it doesn't sound bad. Yeah, it just doesn't sound like it, the things that is even, it doesn't even sound like that mid, is that it's, it's pretty decent. It's decent, but yeah, it's not the best thing of the year, but I'll give it like a six and a half, um, which like, I still think might seem, I don't know, I think that's probably like what it's getting aggregate wise, but I do think, lyrically and kind of like the time it's being released, it is somewhat poignant. And I do think, listen to these lyrics, I think like, if I, but it's kind of weird, because it's kind of like, I agree with, I, you know, like, I, I agree with them regardless. So another song I'm like, yeah, I agree, but I don't, I don't know if there's like any dudes who are like our huge YouTube fans with massive, like, right?
I mean, there's been like, what the fuck is this bottle talking about? I don't know. He's a giant piece of shit or fucking like, he politics out of my music. I don't know. I don't know if there's like an actual like, mega YouTube fan, right? I want to meet them. But like, YouTube's always been free. Like fans out there show us, show us your YouTube collection. Yeah, there's definitely, yeah, there's like, there had to have been when they did the sphere shows back like in 2024. There must have been some like, mega people who like were at that. I'm like, this is amazing. And then they probably had some like, some political thing on the screen. And they went, what the fuck? You know what? It reminds me of what? So I was like playing a band here in Mexico. And one of the guys is what I was playing with his, uh, playing base was a British dude. He's like, you know, we should, we should do. We should sing zombie.
I'm like, are you fucking kidding me? You're fucking British, but that's a great song. But I like, do you not understand what this is? Can we do, like, link, can we do linger instead? Linger's pretty, uh, non-political. He's like, it's a great song. I'm like, it's literally about being bombed. It's literally about like, yeah. I'm like, are you? We're a linger. You can just go, yeah, I have to let it thing go. And that's it. Uh, yeah, yeah, yeah, six and a half. So I'll go quickly to Westside Cowboy. Um, so they have a cool name. I think Westside Cowboy is a pretty sick ass name, but they are actually, um, uh, a windmill scene band from Manchester. So they started in 2023 and they won glass and breweries emerging talent competition in 2025.
Um, so they've been getting a little bit of hype. So they released an EP in August that I didn't listen to. But then I've heard some hype about them. So I was like, okay, I'll listen to so much country till we get there. So it's a five track, 14 minute EP. Um, yeah, it really is kind of windmilly. Uh, for those who don't know who the windmill scene is, those are bands like, um, black country new road, um, black mating. Yeah, um, formally, formally, uh, like squid, shame, even last dinner party. You can consider them that, um, Fontaine's DC is pretty adjacent, even though they're, uh, they're, um, the Irish, um, but very similar sound. Um, so the first song, uh, strange taxidermy definitely just sounds like a black country, new road song, um, of kind of their, I don't know, before this, before this last sound that just came out, like kind of their like post Isaac,
like trying to figure out where they are, kind of vibe, um, they have if one female vocalist and she's leading that one, um, but it, it kind of sounds like black country new road, but they don't only, they only have four members. So imagine like a black country new road track that like doesn't have the frantic, crazy multi instrumentalist stuff going on. Um, and then they're kind of rock stuff in the middle. Um, it really reminds me of the band ought like that Canadian band that, uh, yeah, yeah, yeah. So it kind of has like this like mid 2010s, like post, like low five post punk, that ought and like maybe, I'm trying to think other bands that like sound like that. Um, but just this guitar, right? I'm trying to think of other bands that, uh, kind of this sounds like I'm trying to figure out how you don't know what you want, but dangly. Yeah. But this is probably the best song, uh, can't see. Um, but I do find that I have, like even though I listen to this album,
it's hard to like not compare it to other windmill scene bands. And to me, it still seems like they're getting started. They have elements that sound a lot like these other bands. And I think they're supporting geese on parts of their, uh, tour. Um, goose, but, uh, there's something missing that doesn't put them to the echelon of the other windmill scene bands, in my opinion. I think it's maybe because they just seem like a bit of like a lower, I don't know, they kind of seem like a surf punk band version of those bands, right? Like here's Blackberry Road without the multi instrumentalist, um, like talent and scale. Here is a band that kind of sounds like shame or squid, but with like less frantic postbuckness, kind of more basic alt surf rock vibes. So I see potential in them. I can enjoy parts of this, but it's still kind of a little underwhelming for me, but I'm still interested enough to like listen to their debut album when it comes out. Um, it's about a 6.7. So yeah, I rated it higher than the U2 EP, but they're both like, okay, to listen
to. Nothing really breaks the bank and makes you go, wow, I really like this. It's just kind of like, I can see it. I can see the potential. I'm thinking like cloud nothings. Yeah, I can see that. Yeah, a little bit. Yeah, just not as like hard though, right? Like I think a lot of those postbuck bands might be a bit too surf rocky. Maybe Japan rolling, rolling blackouts coastal fever. Right. That type, that type of like jangly surf rock, um, yeah, okay, that was it. So again, um, I'll or August Pond there was the best one I rated. But again, like besides that converge album, nothing is making me go like, holy shit, 2026 is great. A lot of like, I'm actually pretty good. I think I'm not going to rate it on here, but like, um, on a good bike ride. Yeah, I know. That shit makes me want to commit. I, uh, I was listening to converge on, I was listening to converge on Tuesday, like, uh, just in the office, like in my home.
And then Diane and I had to go drive somewhere. But like the car was automatically hooked up to my Bluetooth. So then I, right when it popped in, I was like, you don't want to listen to this. And we're here like, don't, don't, don't, don't, don't, don't, don't, don't, and she's like, what are you listening to? And I'm like, uh, what are you listening to? And what is it? What? I'm like, uh, nothing, nothing. Um, yeah, porn. Yeah. Um, do you want to track? So there was a, I have like five tracks, actually, you're the decent amount of tracks that have come out. Um, I'll go with, um, no, just name, whatever you want to. Let's do it again by the last inner party from, uh, the war child record. Talking about, uh, charity stuff from the YouTube thing. This album is very like, or this song is very like, circusy. Yeah. Um, the ending of it gets pretty crazy, not going to lie, but yeah, it's pretty.
It definitely seems like you could have put this on the, on their last album and it would have been fine. Sure. Yeah. Yeah. It's cute. Yeah. When is the album coming out? Cause I'm, I've been liking what, what I've been hearing the workshop on. I think it comes out, you know, we could, it's a, it's in March. March, you'd be thinking big, uh, let me, uh, look at a war child's album. 2026. Help to, um, March 6th. Oh, shit.
Yeah, there's a lot of people on here. We got, um, Arctic monkeys, Damon Albarn, Black Country, last inner party, Beth Gibbons of Porter's, Portus head, Depeche mode, Arlo Parax, Happy Badubi, Big Thief, um, Fontaine's Karen Winter, young fathers, pulp, Samfa, wetleg, foals, bad for lashes, um, I'll leave you a Rodrigo's covering the book of love by the magnetic fields for some fucking reason. Okay. And then we got that, uh, that song with Anna Calvi, Nila Freyanya and Ellie Roselle of, uh, Wolf Alice. I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm really, really looking forward to that one. Yeah. Um, tracks. Um, probably like, don't leave by Georgia Smith. Love Georgia Smith. She probably can drop something this year. Georgia, Georgia. Don't judge me. You know, it's a bunch of Jesus. Georgia, I always forget I, uh, every time I like, think of Georgia Smith, I like, always spell her name wrong. Cause I always forget it's a J.O.
No, I think you're thinking of Georgia Allenwood or Georgia. Okay. Yeah. Got to run away. I don't think I'm thinking of you for the street. The short track, but I fucking love her voice. Oh, I run on my way. Oh, so good. Um, I'll do two more. We'll do how I get my label. Yeah. This is actually better than a lot of the tracks off a matter of time. I know. I'm disappointed. Of what is this a, is this on a deluxe of the album or is it its own? Deluxe, deluxe. I get how it doesn't fit thematically with that last album. Um, this definitely feels like kind of like a Billy, I like, it reminds me of a lot of the Billy Isle of Bond theme song.
Like it has a bit more of like a smoky lounge room versus like the bubbly wintery ice princess vibe. I'm consumed. Yeah. You know, album, right? Focus. Yeah. I'll just go for it a bit. Yeah. I really like the label. Yeah, I really like this song. And I was like, I breathed the bat. I'm like, I enjoy this a lot of then some of the stuff I heard last year. So I was really again, like that album was good, but I think it came down as not a, it doesn't think it was, it was a, it wasn't a slider because I think it didn't change ratings, but like it wasn't disappointed album for me by the end of the year. Um, besides like, forget me not, but, uh, yeah, I don't know, but this, this way better. I have one more. We'll go, we'll go drag path by 21 pilots.
Yeah, this song feels like it's five minutes long. It feels like five or six minutes long, but it's 340 because it's just like a slow build ramp up crescendo track, but it's a, it's like a crescendo that takes the whole like length of the track to do. So 21 pilots headlining the first day of Oshiega. Yeah, I, they, if they can flick with the XX, I'm, I'm going to fucking flip. I don't think so. I think it's going to be the XX on one stage and then, and then, yeah, 21 pilots on the main stage, right beside it. Yeah. So that's like dream for me. Um, that'd be sick. Dude, that'd be so sick. They actually, the XX, in fact, they sold out the first show, added a second show, sold that one hour, and they're adding a third show. And I'm, they're, they're playing the day after I leave. Oh, damn, yeah, but I'm excited for that, too, that duo. Again, I think 21 pilots, to me, like, yeah, they don't see, like, they don't see, that's what Diane's doing.
She's only going on that day. Um, they don't, again, 21 pilots is like a weird thing where I think, I, I think they can, I think they can, they can headline a show. I think they can headline a fast. I think a lot of people would be like, really, they're headliner, but I think if you, if you, if you get to the show, I think they'll put on a fucking show. Um, but yeah, drag past, pretty good. What is this part of? Are they like a B side of the last album? Okay, it's still pretty good on its own. Yeah, but yeah, I need to like, go back because, uh, could be wrong, like, it'd be wrong, but it's nice. Yeah, I mean, again, I didn't like breaches as much as I like Clancy, but to hear some of these Clancy songs live, um, navigate team. Uh, yeah. Um, I got two more tracks that are on the poppy side. Okay, um, did you listen to Jesse Ware's ride? I was going for you. All right, I've been looking for a lot of Jesse Ware lately.
It, uh, it's like an interpret disco interpolation of the good and the bad and the ugly soundtrack. That wasn't as an ecstasy of gold. Uh, pizza. So this comes out April 10th. I'm ready. I love Jesse Ware. Yeah, I had a very, like, but this song was produced by a completely different group than the first track I gave you. So this, um, I'm kind of trying to figure out who's going to be on this album.
Well, yeah, and then, um, next, I think it's like not, it's like, it's fine of a track, but I think that's kind of her whole motto, but even Max, um, kill it queen. So she's announced that she, like, left that last night. She, yes, she left her last label after everything that went down with the album last year. What's that one called again? Um, don't press play. Don't press play or don't click play the, the mess of that album and everything around it. The rollout was off. Um, she's now left her label and she's like, I'm brand new. This is me now. Um, and we have this song, which kind of like, it kind of actually gives me a bit of an ab of vibe to it, but it also kind of is sounds closer to what heaven and hell her debut album kind of had. I'm curious that she would think that live. Yeah.
Yeah. But yeah, like she's, yeah. So she's signed with this, like, label called artist partner group. So it's actually a mix between Warner and Atlantic records. So again, I don't really, I don't really know. Like there's both huge ass record, like record labels, right? But I guess she was with, um, she was with Atlantic before, which is kind of weird, but then I guess artist publishing group. It's still an entity of Atlantic and Warner, but it's still its own kind of thing. I don't know, it's, it's really weird, but I think like now they're, maybe they're not really with Atlantic, they're more with Warner now. But it's, um, there's not a lot of people on it, like Charlie Poots on it,
um, Jason Derulo's on it, Don Tolliver. But there's not a lot of artists that are signed under artist partner group. So I don't really know what's going on with that, but I hope she drops them. I don't know, like I don't know if it's better to drop something in ASAP or wait, I'm kind of not sure. Because like don't click, click play was, wasn't asked. It would just like roll out and you can tell, you can tell that like it lacked luster because of her break up with circuit. Um, but. Okay, Lonnie's on there. So it looks like there's some Anneli Choppa. It's a strange mix. I like Benjamin. It's a really strange mix of art. Why the fuck is Kevin Gates there? I got to. Don't boy never broke again. Fones. Uh, let's see. I'm on their website now artist PG. Uh, Kevin Gates young boy never broke again. Um, there's a lot of rap baszy. Yeah. Um, yeah, there's not a lot producers who's on the producers list.
They got like 24 K golden. Arizona's on there, but these are like featured songwriters. The pooser. The pooser is the main dude, right? Don Tall, Don Talliver. Yo, Shadow Kelly, Uchi's husband. Mew. I heard it. You could hear that. Um, yeah, I mean, they got some people, but yeah, it's like a weird group. It's a weird eclectic group. So I really know what that is going to mean. Oh my gosh. Yeah, I don't know what that, but that's going to mean for a future Ava, but like kill it queen. Definitely a nice Abba sounding track that reminds me of the heaven and hell era. But I always cheer for Ava Max. Yeah. Good for her. Yeah, that's it. So I mean, I will, well, I won't be around for next week. So I don't know who might take a break. But then after that, we'll have a shit ton. Yes.
Shit, shit, ton. We'll have again, probably maybe the girls out, maybe the midskill, maybe the Bruno Mars out. What else is on my? Probably, yeah. Oh, then whatever comes out the the the following week, too, right? Let's see. Yeah. So there's that there's that a war child album. I'm let me just go to March 6th. See what's going on. Just so people are aware of the the fate that awaits us. Which cat is that? Rafa. Rafa. The one I've never seen yet. Oh my fucking god. What? It's fucking Harry Styles week. Oh my gosh. Next week of the week after March 6th is Terry Styles and we got Harry Styles is kiss all the time. Disco occasionally. It comes out March 6th. Yeah. Shit, so that's our our oh shit. Yeah, that's the we got that. We got the war child album. We've got the site strictly for the site.
Yeah. That's the Denzel Curry collab. We got more these weird ass fucking album. We've got announced today. We have the new and final gnarles bar going album on the 6th. Final, yeah. Yeah. Oh my god. There's a new harness album that day, dude. We are brother. We are feast in a harness. I think that's what I see anything else here. Yeah. I think that's that. That's mostly it. Shit. We got two weeks. Two big weeks of releases. That one is album, though. Bro, bro, bro. Yeah. All right. Yikes. Anything else you want to say? No, that's it. Sage, where can the people find us? Wait, we also got a Kim Petra CP. I'm not listening to that. Oh, come on.
I've never been in a press with Kim anyway. Yeah, but she's like Slater. It doesn't matter. Oh, shit. Slater. Is the Slater. I'm good. I'm not out that day, too. There's this later album coming out. It is, but our worst girl in America is out March 27th. End of the month. End of the month. Yeah. Yikes. Yeah. And then, yeah, third. Then the week after that is James Blake. Yikes. Sage, where can the people find us? Out of 10. Podcast on Facebook, Instagram, or out of 10. Podcast. All right, take us out. Bye.
