Episode 1,222 Movies, 2025. Welcome to the Sci-Fi Christian Britney Thial GF Warp Speed. I'm Anderson and today I'm here solo for this intro because the episode you're about to hear, which does feature Ben, was recorded in very early January 2026 and here we are in March 2026 so it's been about two months and we always anticipate that this would be in the free feed but it was originally released in our Patreon feed which you can find at patreon.com slash the Sci-Fi Christian that's right if you want to support our podcast or support us if you've been a long time listener the way to do it is go to patreon.com slash the Sci-Fi Christian and you can you can support us, give us some money and you get some more episodes lots more episodes there's so many there you can check it out I think you can check out what's available for free but you can't listen for free that's where it will have to be you can think of it as a donation do whatever you want but for now let's just
go to this episode every year we do our annual look back on the previous years favorite movies and then our next episode will be about books so for this one we're going to look at some of our favorite movies and I'm trying to remember because it was two months ago if we I can't remember if we do a big feature on our least favorite movies I think we do I think we talk about the worst movies we saw in 2025 and our very favorite first time viewings in 2025 that I mentioned I don't think I mentioned why we're on a break so it's been about two it's almost been three weeks since spending an hour together recording episodes and the reason is it's great news Ben and his wife just welcomed their newest child into their family and so we're on just a little bit of a break here like I said it's tomorrow as I'm sitting here recording this intro it'll be three weeks so since it's been a little of an extended time since the feed's been quiet I thought I'd release these episodes which again I always planned to release here didn't have an exact idea of when we'd put them in the free feed but no time like the present so let's go ahead and flash back
to January 2026 and listen to this talk all about our favorite first time viewings it's my favorite movies it's Ben's favorite movies and it's happening right now okay this is for the Uncensored feed and we are at episode and I'm always going to be on the Uncensored well I think I might eventually put it in the free feed yeah exactly so in June we'll give it we'll give them they're okay they're free I like it episode 246 actually you always said let's go ahead episode 246 movies 2025 man we're early this year so early like so early I wasn't even ready I'm pretty much ready for books too welcome to the summer Christian Uncensored I met Anderson I'm Vandy Bodo we're back we're back and we're here to talk about movies movies man I just spent the whole Dante episode preparing for this so I'm movies and bad movies yeah I've got it right here for you I do just have some strong feelings about not spending a lot of time talking about the bad
Christmas movies I saw so I might just skip passing those yeah I wish you wouldn't watch them it's just a fun thing my wife and I do together but they so often on these these episodes end up being the worst movies I've seen of the year such as just let's just take that as an aberration of your life and and we'll talk about other things all right yeah so I might want to start positive or negative definitely negative okay so I don't even know let's see I've got one two and the rules for this is always are the first time watches in 2025 so not necessarily released okay this is great I do have a few that were released in 2025 so my order I do have the Christmas movies here so I'm just gonna skip them if they they come up and I'll go to the next one but my first one is so how many do you have 12 I have top 10 for my worst and I've 25 for my best I remember when I started at 12 this is the best of the movies I've seen because you you are going to like one of these movies only one though so that's not so bad here we go are you ready
yep no how do you have I've 10 okay so you'll join me in a second number 12 counting out so this is the best of what I've what I'm ranking badly you're worst movie yes this is my best worst movie yes you might remember I didn't love mon uncle oh I know I know you like it I've seen other ones with this character uh moncero hello I feel like that's not deserving I said 12 is a weird number you should have just made it at the bottom 11 he's not deserving to be on a problem I want to mention something you knew because a lot of us you're not even going to know okay so don't approve uh but I I did like play time I already think it was yeah and so you like Monterey who loves holiday so it's not always bad I was not in the right mind frame for this one all right number 11 for me now this one I gotta say a little quietly because my kids love this movie in fact some of my children work characters oh sorry they dressed up for Halloween as some of the characters from this movie is a Disney movie live action musical they they do it's kind of like a direct Disney channel it's called zombies for Don of the vampires I didn't really like it but they really like it
so I'm glad mon uncle so there's okay number 10 for you uh the movie gummo or gummo by harmony Corinne this movie was disgusting I did not enjoy it at all I don't think I like harmony Corinne all right well number 10 for me is called heads of state starring John Cena and Idris Elba as maybe president and prime minister and they have to also fight bad guys with their fighting skills they team up why do I feel like I can stand by watching most of mine haha number 9 for you that right for me is Jean-Luc Godard's uh movie King Lear which is not actually an adaptation of King Lear it's just Goddard being an idiot I hate Jean-Luc Godard French director breathless is a great movie blah blah blah he's still yeah
9 all right number 9 for me um I have some recently started watching Cobra Kai and in preparation for that I watch every single Karate Kid movie except for the one with Will Smith's son no the number 9 for me is Hilary Swanks the next Karate Kid uh yeah didn't you know you don't have to watch everything I'm just a completionist when it comes to my viewing so but I still do want to watch that one add a lot to your Cobra Kai experience yeah I I think it added some but not a lot uh number 8 for you all right so the next one I have is a movie I was looking forward to watching it's directed by John Millias who famously wrote apocalypse now um it stars Sean Connery and it seemed like kind of a movie I would like it's called the the wind and the lion so it sort of has a yeah I'll just read the description here at the beginning of the 20th century an American woman is abducted in Morocco by Burbers and the attempt to free her range from
diplomatic pressure to military intervention so it's kind of that early 20th 20th century anyway uh my review which I was very proud of and I in order to understand the review I had to set up what the plot was vaguely about I my review was Borens of Arabia oh wow Bore I love that title of Arabia yeah not a good movie all right number eight for me number eight another Disney movie it is it sounds very similar to Harry Potter some people go to a magic school and try to learn magic anyways not worth mentioning it's called upside down magic I never even heard of that movie yeah I don't know if it went straight to Disney Plus or straight to Disney Channel I don't it definitely wasn't released in theaters but what's your number not or you're seven right I'm at seven what are you at eight I meant I should have said eight yeah that was eight whatever seven my seven was literally the last movie I watched last year that's the movie called together
so horror with the married couple Alison Bree yeah from community and uh Franco Dave Frank the other fellow the less known Franco well the one who didn't get me to anyway I like horror movies this is body horror thought I was going to be like this year substance substance was great this movie's terrible it's so terrible I hated this couple so much like they call each other partner I do what do you think of people who refer to their partner it's confusing well it just sounds like you're in a gay marriage right like or a law firm you know like if you're if you don't want to say boyfriend then we have a term significant other they just use that so I hate that like I instantly feel contempt for anybody who talks about their partner and then second they kept calling each other babe oh you hate that I hate it like just it was horrible so horrible but the premise is that when they touch they get stuck together yeah like there's like a person like
do they start like molding or melding together yes yeah eventually anyway horrible movie do you want to spoil it it should be not no I won't spoil it I'm kind of curious on if they become one person but we'll talk about later all right I'm gonna uh for number seven just quickly mention Mark Wahlberg was in this uh kind of like actiony like oh there's a secret society something's happening behind the scenes it's called infinite ends up being about basically reincarnation and a secret society built around reincarnation when are you watching why are you watching these I really want to talk about it I mean for this one I have a strong memory of watching it in my car over my lunch break so it wasn't like I was getting in my best time to infinite all right number six this is a movie I forgot I watched called choose me it's like a romcom from the eighties what would have brought you to watch this is a criteria movie okay I don't know why I really hated it really really hated it it has nobody oh Keith Keradine ah good old Keradines anyway he choked on that one um I hated it
you probably like it because you like that romcom please all right number six for me I'm just gonna pass it's a Christmas movie oh okay we're just not doing it Chris on the second I thought you I thought you read I haven't reordered it I'm just gonna pass uh five for me a movie we saw both saw I don't think we saw it together smashing machine just can't make mission impossible the final reckoning you know what it's not on my list but it's if I'm just thinking without much research I think it's my biggest disappointment of the year it's it's a it's a bad movie it was worse than I want it to be and I just love that franchise so much I agree like this is dead reckoning was not good final reckoning was bad this movie is bad it is the epitome of believing your own press um just I think in hindsight we can see that they were having a lot of trouble with the making of these movies all along and I kind of got blamed on COVID and maybe that is part of it but they did not have it they didn't they never had it that's what I mean by they believe their own
press like they got into a stunts and see I then they just decided well that means we don't have to have a script and we don't have to have any no you do you can't make six hours of movie without anything tying it together and the AI was a bad choice yeah like having AI be the villain is a bad choice all right number five is gonna be another Christmas pass well how many more Christmas movies do you have two more I'll mention the very last one because it's my number one all right a number four really I would have guessed we had the same number one it will be because of my Christmas pass but you watch something that you think was worse than that I do yeah wow it's I mean keep going number four for me as a movie called born in flames this is like a it it's set in a future uh america that has had a socialist uh revolution and a bunch of feminists are mad during it and it's horrible it's poor it's borderline unwatchable um I don't dislike it uh because of the politics in fact when we get to the best movie I have a a left-wing
movie that's one of my best from last year but this movie is insufferable it's absolutely a port all right all right number four for me is another almost the last Christmas pass it's the last one I'll pass on all I will mention my last Christmas movie so go ahead for your number three number three for me is a former best-picture winner Guillermo del Toro's the shape of water okay I wish a death lady bangs a fish I hated this movie so much it's so bad it like I can't believe this movie one best picture it it's awful it is start it is juvenile it's boring it's way too long it has nothing redeeming about it I hated this movie all right my number three is a little bit of a cheat because I imagine it's from 1984 I have a small vague memory of seeing this as a young child but when I watched it it was as if it was my first time yeah I think that's fine super girl from 1984 set in the same world as the Christopher Reeve Superman uh just I mean
I know you don't like those movies so imagine you you think those are bad this is even worse right oh I've only seen the first but you know who's in it's Peter O'Toole he's a main character in this film he well he slammed it pretty man character might be strong but he's a he's a character that is not just a cameo okay all right number my number two is your number one so you do number two we'll go right into the okay my number two is a movie we did talk about Spike Lee's highest to lowest his remake of high to low I watch high to low but I have not watched you you saved me from this one so bad it's this isn't a very seedly bad movie all right my number one and your number two the ice cube worth the world yeah I mean this could be my number one if I hadn't watched that Christmas movie that was a half star I can't believe you saw something that you think is objectively worse than this movie as movies are trying to be good even your Christmas movies I know this one is trying to be good which makes it worse this probably should have been my number one this is I reorder this is one of the worst movies I've ever reorder it for you because
this is trying whereas the Christmas movie they're they're not trying right that's why I don't even want to mention like the whole gimmick is that they're bad I'm gonna skip my number one and pass on that and just say this is my number one and I and flip my star rating which is very because Christmas miracle yeah you're right war of the world tries to be good and it was something that I actively wanted to stop watching like just less than 10 minutes in I was thinking I don't know if I can do this it was hard to watch yeah I enjoyed watching it but it is one of the worst movies ever made all right do you want to do it to the best of course I know we're running short on time I have 25 oh my gosh but I can run through them quickly how do we do this fast let's take a look I mean see how many I have well you just I don't have 25 so I only have 12 okay or 13 I'm not sure yet but you keep going you start with 25 just right around 15 slowdown okay my number 25 is a a Louis mall who is the director of my dinner at Andre he did a documentary
called God's country which is about Glencoe Minnesota in the 70s and 80s I really only liked it because it was Minnesota and it was interesting to see like you know the Glencoes like a mile or an hour west of the Twin Cities and there's a fascinating I've prepared for you a list of 10 so go all the way to 10 okay number 24 movie you've seen Godzilla minus one yes I really liked me too really really good I'm excited for the next one I mean and yes that's true but also this one stands alone in such a good way that if they never made another one I'd still be happy with this one yeah number 23 for me Das boot the four hour submarine German movie if you thought you couldn't share for the Nazis think again is that they think it goes well I mean it's just like German soldiers okay it's not the not a big Nazi movie but it is a German submarine movie yeah it's great Das boot is super long but a movie you should see movie you shouldn't see you wouldn't like
this at all there's a horror movie called bring her back by the directors of talk to me I like this one better but boys this movie messed up okay yeah you wouldn't don't watch this okay you would not like it a bit but I think you would like my number 21 which is a movie from 2000 called you can count on me starring Laura linear and Mark ruffalo and the Mark ruffalo plays Laura linear is struggling younger brother who comes home after years away and it's just a really great drama movie it seems like the type of thing you would probably enjoy thank you number 20 all of us strangers by Andrew high who was the director of 45 years which I loved this isn't quite as good but stars Andrew Scott and there's kind of the weird melancholic air to this but it gets into some semi super natural maybe time travel elements to it really a movie that I liked when I watched about as one that has stuck in my mind more after the fact 19 the long walk I really like
this this was a good movie this is based on Stephen King yep yep this was a Stephen King novel and I thought the adaptation was great 18 falling down have you ever heard of falling down is that with Michael Douglas Michael Douglas yeah Joel Schumacher is the director believe it or not free Batman and Robin if you tell me a little bit about what's about I can picture him with the buzz cut and the glasses yeah yeah but what's happening in that so he's like this high strong guy and he just gets mad one day and LA traffic and gets out of his car and then eventually proceeds to go on a murderous rampage which is like well you just get fed up with traffic and you're just done breaking bad road rage addition a 17 a movie I just watched a a week or two ago begonia the new yargos laugh about movie this movie is so good okay tell me a little bit about it without spoiling too much I'm on spoil is it what I like this I think you might look kind of good to me so Jesse plemons plays this kind of rural conspiracy theorist and he and his his
cousin I think it is in the movie are convinced that the CEO of a pharmaceutical company is played by Emma Stone is secretly an alien who is destroyed mankind and they set out on a plot to kidnap her and I'm not going to tell you anything beyond that like are they crazy are they not like what's going on all of that it's it's fantastic it's very funny in places how much like gore is there in there's one scene that's quite gory but beyond that it's not that okay I think you I think you I think you'd probably enjoy most of it okay uh 16 Ari Astor's new movie Eddington actually have a lot of 20 25 movies yeah it's interesting you only usually do that uh Eddington's fantastic I you should watch this you keep saying that but you always whenever you say it feels like there's a little hesitation like you should but I don't know if you'll like it well it's because it so Eddington is set in New Mexico in May of 2020 so it's got the whole COVID thing
so there is this part of watching it where you're just like reliving COVID but it's so darkly funny uh and it gets it gets the feel of it so it's like a it's very funny but it also feels like a therapy session for this horrible thing we all went through it's great though and this is another one where the long ground sat with it the more I've liked it a 15 Sorcerer William Friedkins remake of Wages of Fear which I know you didn't love Wages of Fear on Wages of Fear Sorcerer is good too 14 friendship this is the yeah I don't watch it but you gotta watch it yeah this is uh the Tim Robinson movie uh 13 so this was last year's best picture winner Anora by Sean Baker I really really like this not for kids not for kids but it was it was excellent uh am I close to where you should try oh you know I've got two runners up or not they're not runners up two oh what do they call it if you honorable mentions all right let's quickly throw them out both
musical one was kind of a surprise it's called Wonka with Timothy Chalamet I did not know it was a prequel I went into it with I just assumed there'd be another Willy Wonka story just like we've always seen with a you know Charlie and the chocolate factory not that it's a young Wonka and so they should literally call it young Wonka that would have been more descriptive uh so uh yeah but musical and I ended up really liking that one and I think you're gonna hate that I like this other one but I enjoyed I enjoyed wicked part one my family and I watched wicked one and two this last week and I I part one is much better part two is also good but uh yeah I think I know you're supposed to take them as a whole and uh I think I wonder what I would rate if I put it all together because the I would say I really like one part one is good all right uh number 12 for me is long legs this is a horror movie from last year starring Nicholas Cage some people that like this I really like this I thought this was super creepy and then I should do 11
because you did your two runners up 11 another horror movie but from this year weapons weapons are so good does the one you keep saying I don't want to say anything just go in yeah it's so so good loved weapons all right number 10 for me a movie that we watch together over our weakened with the rainies and it's called Harakiri oh yeah we did a whole episode on it yeah number 10 for me is also a Japanese movie called demon pond which a little bit horary but it the the thing that really strikes out to me is that the the the traveler comes into the town very dusty at the beginning and he gets the speck of dust in his eye in the first part of the movie and this old ladies squirts uh breast milk into his eye to help get it out so that really stuck out to me that's not why the movies are my best okay yeah that's all you told us you're gonna you're gonna describe a movie and you went straight to breast milk okay here number eight all right I moved to first I get to prepare something else oh yes number nine for me another movie that we reviewed together right here on this podcast high and low yeah all right all right I loved high and low
number eight number eight for me I think you would really like this movie it's called paper moon by Peter Bogdanovich it stars Ryan O'Neal who was Barry Lyndon and Barry Lyndon and his real-life daughter Tatum O'Neal and it's a con man who winds up getting connected with this kid on the road it's in the great depression very good very moving loved it all right watch paper I've heard of it because I I have seen movies by this director and of course with Ryan O'Neal in fact I'm thinking of what's up doc have you heard of or seen what's up I have heard of it I love it just a slapstick comedy love so yes I'll check out paper moon all right number eight for me a movie that we should have reviewed and haven't and maybe we will so you can tell me what I missed in the mood for love I give it I mean I rate it very highly but I think you told me that my review showed that I was missing something yeah so let's just come back to that agreed seven and eight are are a two-part movie seven and six nope oh you're right I have seven and eight stop it we're not doing
what I'm going for us now no we're not doing the six seven I didn't even mean that um jean de florette and manion of the spring these are two French movies so maybe you should watch them with their oh we have a whole French episode I feel like that episode's not happening where it was really cool like a month ago and now it's gone yeah but this was a this was a great movie it's you know set in provincial France the turn of the century and uh involves greed and betrayal and it's just fantastic all right well my next two movies and I don't want to say they're cheats but they're a little out of the ordinary of what we usually wouldn't mention but here we go number seven for me is a short film only half hour long a man a documentarian captures video of his daughter answering the same set of questions every year of her life starting when she's you know two or three up until let's just say seventeen eighteen and just kind of the movie oh I'm gonna say it's called how do you measure a year it's from 2021 and you know as a father just it is important to think through the time you have with your kids while they're there with you so I think that yeah there's a lot that could be said about the movie
but just seeing how the relationship is uh growing and changing and there's some flows over the years it spoke to me I like it all right number seven for you nope six okay uh how many do you have left six okay six for me a movie I bet you've heard of but have not seen a streetcar named desire of course isn't this uh Marlon Brando he could have been a contender this was great this is great so don't sleep on this okay classic movie loved it all right number six I said it was a little bit of a cheat it's a mini series it's a comedy it's on Netflix wait is this a minute wait a second this might actually be a movie cunk on life is that a movie or a mini series mini series all right well cunk on life it's very funny very funny I like check it out on Netflix uh I think a year or two ago you watched a movie that you loved called the big country yeah directed by William Wiler yes and another of his movies that you should watch and is my number five the best years of our life
is it a western no it's about it's a story of service men coming home from world war two but just a great great drama um he's he also did Ben Hurr he's a great director okay yeah that's William Wiler I think we're fans Ben you're gonna enjoy my top five because they're all movies you recommended to me perfect I think some we've reviewed some we haven't but let's just let's take a look number five f four fake oh yeah yeah orson orson well orson wells yeah so half documentary half what surreal magic trick meta fiction uh yeah oh magic trick yeah for me I'm a more recent movie from Charlotte Wells 2022 after sun this was a movie that the whole time I was watching it it's like there's something I'm missing about this movie and that's intentional you don't quite realize what this movie is actually showing you until the end okay and then when it comes into focus it is emotionally devastating this is a great movie okay this is a great very sad but great great great
great movie okay number four did we review on this show I think yeah I'm sure we did throne of blood yeah we talked about that that's the one that's based on Macbeth and I didn't know until we were recording on it right sir it's great though all right number three three or four for you number four for you no this is three I can't keep track just tell me your movie uh I had last year's best picture winner at 13 for a Nora I think this year's best picture winner I'm predicting smash you machine no one battle after another oh this is so good really I love this even for me I yes are you sure I think you'd really like it it's deeply entertaining so I mentioned in my worst list I didn't like born in flames I said it wasn't because of the politics this is also a left weight movie left weight revolutionaries the parallels between them are actually very strong the difference is this is actually a good movie I mean it's so entertaining it looks like it could have the feel of uncut gems does it have that like at times a little bit at times but Sean Pan is this abominable villain in it he's a great villain just a fantastic thriller Leonardo
no I love Leo I love this movie okay well I absolutely loved it and you think it's going to be smashing machine just might edge it out can you believe the rocket is nominated well actually not Oscar yet is it no he's been nominated for a goal and globe but doesn't that usually isn't that telling sort of a little bit the rock man can you believe it this is my I haven't seen Marty supreme oh I think I'm gonna love it everybody I haven't seen it yeah just based on what I'm hearing it's your exact kind of movie I think it is so but without having seen that one battle after another my pick for best picture number three for me let me get this title right the earrings of madam D yeah Max Alphalus yeah 1953 film lots of lots of oh I want to say not not a mistaken identity but in some ways mistaken identity that's not exactly true there's there's some confusion that leads to entertainment but also drama yeah I think that was one of Cupid's favorite movies too
number two cool hand Luke this is such a good movie did I I don't know if I had a good you gave me the code and I do want to watch it I really want so good the Paul Newman if you like prison movies who doesn't like a good prison movie this is great okay yes I want to watch it it's been on my radar to watch for years and you gave me the code so thank you for that all right number two a movie simply called by one letter can you figure it out not F or fake a different letter I'm trying to think of no M 1931 first time viewing for me can you believe it that's great loved it although some of the subject material of course is not what I love all right the story so well done for our film from 1931 all right number one for me Terrence Malik's a hidden life this is his most recent movie came out the same months with cats somehow I've seen cats three times but I've only seen him life once but boy is a good so it's the true story of France Yuga Strato who is a now a a saint in the Catholic church who is martyred for his refusal to to join up then he was drafted by the Nazis during World War II and refused to
fight was eventually martyred for it I love Terrence Malik of course and this is such a great movie very very profoundly beautiful and told with his normal style and your number one number one for me again a movie you recommended I watch it as part of the criteria in challenge we did review up but I'll give a minute here to talk about it it's Solaris from 1972 a movie that of everything I've mentioned here today it's the movie the only movie in the list that I ended it and then immediately felt like I should rewatch us again yeah just it stuck with me over the last year yeah it's I yeah there feel free to say whatever you want about it but I I love to this viewing experience Matthew I'm incredibly impressed by your top 10 thank you usually it's like here's a movie about a CGI poop wearing a cape that's played by the rock and I just liked it and feel like that's not exactly accurate and this is a very bad compliment first of all that's like what your normal top 10s are like I thought you were going to give me a compliment and it turned out
not such a great list run just say the titles just say the title so are Sam the earrings of madam D thrown a blood effort for a fake I'm what was gonna say I think I was gonna say funk I hope that was gonna say funk effort that's the parody conco this is where I have a concon life I got to it myself how do you measure a year in the mood for love high and low and hard carry wow so first of all I've seen all of those except for the how to measure a year and I loved all of those that's a phenomenal list thank you thank you for saying that we better than next year's where you have two monji three no probably next year will be like one and two this is a good prediction next year's prediction is number one was dune part three and number two was Avengers Doomsday that's what I think what about you where we'll do just throw it out there where we'll do and land on your top 10 oh three I think that's safe yeah all right I don't want to hit this
music all right listener so you got this early here in the unsensory Vietnam probably eventually give it to the free feed but thanks so much for your support here patreon I'm met Anderson happy new year and that's what I'm here to I said that's right yeah where does that progress and sign enough movie movies and books coming next week you said you're almost ready let's yeah let's just release these early so next week I guess this is more what we talk about they are but next week we'll record on Dante books and cookie Christmas cookie Christmas still that Christmas season our listeners happy new year bye
