In 1918, on the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month, an armistice, was declared between the Allied nations and Germany in World War I, then known as “the Great War.”
One year later, in November 1919, U.S. President Woodrow Wilson proclaimed November 11 as the first commemoration of Armistice Day, marking the end of the conflict.
In the aftermath of World War II and the Korean War, Armistice Day became known as Veterans Day.
The first "Veteran's Day Parade" was in Birmingham, Al, Nov 11, 1919. It continues today, sanctioned by the National Veterans Day Foundation.
Veterans often experience physical, financial, and emotional setbacks, even trauma. PTSD is common in varying degrees of intensity. If you, or someone you know, is struggling with issues, there is help available. Here's the link:

In closing, thank a veteran today, and be sincere. These incredible men and women laid it all out on the line, not for themselves, but for others....We are those "others".
