最近有科學家們發現兩隻「加州兀鷹」的DNA都是「處女懷胎」，基因都來自牠們的母親，沒有「生物學上的父親」？！
近年來處於瀕臨滅絕的狀態，在「加州兀鷹復育計畫」下，讓情況有點趨緩，危機尚未解除，母兀鷹在沒有交配的情況，生出了小兀鷹，就是孤雌生殖(就不會出現生父是誰的問題 XD)！
這三十年，科學家收集加州兀鷹的檢體並進行基因定序，建立了完善的資料庫，經過分析後，確認這個結果！
