其中最顯著的改變就是死傷人數。
戰國時期戰爭的目的已從春秋時代的搶糧、搶物資、俘虜敵人，進階到了殲滅敵人，斬首八萬、十萬、甚至坑殺四十萬，最兇殘、最血腥的屠城戰爭就是在戰國時代出現的。
