有一個寓言故事是這樣的，
一個好心的青年，每當遇到巷口乞丐來乞討的時候，
總會給他10塊美金讓他飽餐一頓，
一轉眼數年過去了，好心的青年也結婚成家了，手頭比較緊一些，
這天當他再度遇到乞丐，他給了乞丐5塊美金，
沒想到乞丐反手就給了他一巴掌，質問他：「怎麼只有５塊！」
這就是工具人的最好例證！對別人好，而不是只希望自己變成工具人！
有些人期待你提供幫助，卻一點也不心懷感激，
不過我們也要檢討一下是不是你也把別人當工具人了呢？
這樣的關係是失衡的…
