About this episode
Kyle welcomes Rick Hansen to the podcast to talk about his many accomplishments. While most know Rick for his Man in Motion tour and his incredible advocacy for spinal cord research and awareness for individuals with disabilities, we were eager to explore Rick's passion for the outdoors and his commitment to conservation.
Inspired by the dream of creating an accessible and inclusive world and finding a cure for spinal cord injury, Rick Hansen set out on a journey that would make history – the Man In Motion World Tour (MIMWT).
From March 21, 1985 to May 22, 1987, Rick and his team wheeled over 40,000 km through 34 countries raising awareness about the potential of people with disabilities, creating accessible and inclusive communities, and finding a cure.
Despite all the accomplishments Rick has achieved through the Rick Hansen Foundation, he has also found time to give back in the conservation realm. He was a founding member of the Fraser River Sturgeon Conservation Society and cares deeply about fish, wildlife and their habitat.
