Elderly Woman Avoids Ban After Hitting Pedestrian

Frances Peach was behind the wheel of her Persia 107 on September 16th last year, around 9am, when she failed to spot a mum. Crossing the road after dropping off her kids at school. The crash left the victim with muscle and tissue injuries, but Peach pulled over right away. The insurance issue stemmed from a mix-up just 10 days before renewal. Peach called her provider to cancel the automatic renewal after seeing a price hike to three times the previous premium. Connected to a call handler in South Africa, she struggled with the accent and ended up saying she wanted a cancelled outright, unaware her current. Policy was Acts 2. The mum described freezing made crossing as, Peach turned sharply into her path, sending her over the car. She landed hard, but got checked out at hospital with strong painkillers. Peach was shocked, hugged the woman to check on her, and quickly called police and an ambulance.

Her lawyer explained the renewal woes and her daughter's push for a cheaper deal, noting the communication breakdown. Police confirmed no coverage at the time. Police endorsed her license with six points and hit her with a 576-pound fine plus 360 pounds in costs. But spared her a ban, Peach expressed remorse, relieved the injuries stayed minor.
