7:15The great Chuck Norris passed away while we were on the air today. The kick in the gut. And the president made a Pearl Harbor joke in front of the Japanese prime minister. Those two things happened and other things. I just came across something good. I'm going to get to you later. Mr. Davis Hansen, historian who Joe has dined with. I have indeed. I'm desperately to come off as a non-idiot with yes. On obvious signs that we are really past the tipping point of winning the war with Iran and it really makes a lot of sense. Good stuff. We'll get to you later this hour. Love VDH, much respect. So speaking of historians, this is extraordinary. Let's just first of all, this is just posted, I think yesterday or the day before on Tucker Carlson's network, Twitter feed. I'm sorry Michael, number nine. Winston Churchill, I know, required to deify, presided over the imprisonment of his opposition party during the entire length of the war and their families and their wives. They're rotting in prison away from their little kids in some cases, their infants and

8:18their crime was being the opposition party and being disloyal and unpatriotic. They weren't. The opposition party was led by a first world war hero who fought not just as a pilot in the sky, but Anne in the trenches like when the Great War heroes for a member of Parliament, the country ever produced. And he and his wife and his compatriots and their wives were interned without charges by Winston Churchill for the duration of the war and that happened in Britain, which is like much more humane than a lot of places. FDR interned the Japanese, including American citizens. That stuff happens during war. And so I think we should be on guard. So what was his ultimate point? Are we about to intern someone, internment camp someone? What the hell is going on? About to happen. I watch the whole Tucker Carlson thing with the Joe Kent and they got into a lot of that stuff. Let me read the reply from a Constantine Kissin who is a Brit who I am very, very fond of. He says credit where it's due. Tucker is amazing. It confidently delivering absolute lies.

9:19Here he is claiming the Churchill locked up members of the opposition party during WW2. And in fact Churchill led a national government, i.e. one that included leaders of the opposition parties in prominent roles. Labor leader Clement Attlee was appointed Churchill Stepity, another leading labor and liberal politicians held major roles in the cabinet. The person Tucker is talking about is Oswald Mosley, who was the leader of the British union of fascists and was not elected to anything. He wanted Britain to become a fascist country and worked with Hitler. Work with Hitler. Despite this, contrary to Tucker's claims, he was not detained for the full duration of the war and was released in 1943, two years before it ended. In most other countries, he would have been hanged for treason without a second thought the day the war started. Britain's treatment of this tiny group of fascist i.e. enemy sympathizers and collaborators during WW2 is an example of extraordinary restraint and respect for the sanctity of human life and freedom that was not only unparalleled in the world at the time, but arguably remains rare and hugely admirable even by the standards of today across most of the world.

10:23And sure, Tucker is completely wrong, and we can only conclude that the spreading of these malicious lies is motivated not only by ignorance of history, but also by the fact that he will say anything he deems necessary to suit his political agenda. His opposition to the current war in Iran about which I myself have expressed some skepticism does not justify this behavior and is, in fact, undermined by it. No right-thinking person can take him seriously after this. Even the context, the reader context, the notes on Twitter, I still call it Twitter. Post, mostly it was not a leader of the UK opposition, he was head of the British Union of Fascists who married his wife at the home of Joseph Gerbels and later was described as a Jew baiting Nazi apologist blah, blah, blah. There's dreams of evidence for that. By the way, while we're on the topic, I have been listening to this book. I was unaware of this book, I don't know where it came out, and if you're a WW2 person and you haven't read or listened to five days in London May 1940 by John Lucas, man is

11:26that good stuff, but it's inside the British government during like a two week periods, specifically five days, but where they were going to go one way or the other. They were going to either fight the Nazis or surrender and they had to get a new prime minister because I was all falling apart and Winston gets elected. And it's got some quotes in there I'd never heard before. Right after Winston Churchill gets elected and he's prime minister, he gets into the car he's driving and this was a quote from the driver saying, congratulations to Winston and Churchill had tears at his eyes and he said, yeah, the only problem is I think it's too late. I mean, he is optimistic as he was, thought it was too late to turn things around, but they were going to be defeated by Hitler and the Nazis actually thought it was too late they were going to lose something during that period of time with Dunkirk and the evacuation and all that sort of stuff.

12:26If you're a WW2 guy, but yeah, I would describe a more as resolute than optimistic because it was so dark. Oh my God. The evacuation of Dunkirk was a miracle, a miracle. The British army would have been decimated. And just a couple of turns to the weather and an enormous coming together of all sorts of civilian and military efforts evacuated hundreds of thousands of troops. Yeah, it was, that was dark days. Yeah, I'd say it's amazing that we don't recognize that more. It's just so easy. I mean, I think about young people I know and it's just kind of a, you know, Hitler attacked people and we defeated them and you move on, it wasn't like how close Europe came to being under the sway of Nazi Germany for decades forever. Who knows? Mm-hmm. Yeah. Yeah. God knows what that would look like. No kidding. I mean, that's, I realized it's been done, but that's a pretty good alternative history

13:30of project. Yeah. What would the Nazi empire have looked like across Europe? How about 10 years after its establishment? What would the resistance look like? And during that period of time before we were in the war, one thing that they do a good job of at the World War II Museum there in New Orleans that I went to is they have the polling, public opinion polling, as you walk through the museum month by month, day by day, year by year. And man, the US was not into coming to Great Britain's aid until way late. We were perfectly okay with them being taken over for whatever reason. Coming out of, you know, not that long before World War I and everything and just an isolationist attitude and all, but there was no enthusiasm for helping out Great Britain or France from getting run over by the Nazis. Well, there was enormous enthusiasm for fascism as a counter to communism partly in Europe and in the US.

14:31Like everywhere around the world, people were seriously taking fascism, well, seriously taking it seriously as a political system that might be necessary. A lot of the intellectuals of the day in the US who weren't communists were thinking, you know, it's unfortunate you got to be so tough, but it takes me in tough to be effective. I'm down with the fascist thing. Joe has got some clips that I haven't heard yet of Gavin Newsom's old lady. Yeah, who might end up being the first lady of the United States of America? I don't want that for my country politically as a radio talk show host. I kind of want him to win and have her be in the White House, but not as a citizen of the country. It would be like a gold mine at the bottom of which was a productive oil well that accidentally shed diamonds off as it pumped the oil. It would be a miracle and yet a horror for the country. 19:38And, but it's super enthusiastic about it and also has Jack, a bit of hot chick syndrome. Very attractive gal. So all of her jokes have been laughed at and people have nodded their heads as if she's saying something very profound. Most of her life, we have a couple of samples. He's out and proud now talking to the press and doing all sorts of stuff will start with 80, Michael. I don't know if our country is ready for first partner. Okay. Sadly. I don't know if they are. I'd like to think and I'm going to work really, really, really hard for people to see what's been rendered invisible and devalued in our society and to go, oh, that's actually important. It's not always a woman behind a man, but the partnership is what's important and then partners that will make the world go around. Oh, boy. So she's employing, she wants to be like an activist, a real activist, partner to the president. I hated this one Bill and Hillary ran on, you're getting two for the price of one.

20:40And here I'm told it's not only obnoxious, it's pretty incomprehensible. Let's roll that one, Michael. That said, I, you know, I respect for institutions, California sort of this petri dish of innovation. I threw it out as a whim to everybody when we were in the transition period. And they were like, they kind of liked it. They thought it was cool. And I was like, okay. And so if not me, hopefully somebody someday will continue to assert and stand up so that more people see the value of the partnership and the value of the care and that that person, whether it's a man, a woman, you know, gender non-conforming individual, that they're critical to that person's success and that they're part of the other life, that other life of theirs that allows them to lead, that allows them to be successful. Stop.

21:41Yeah, that's great. That's totally cool. I get that. It probably mangle circulate a little bit. So great to meet you. That's like, yeah, it's like the Saturday Night Live Seth Meyers woman you got stuck talking to at a party. That is, that is exactly what it's like. You know, just because you're giving me an opportunity to just talk about two amazing first ladies, three, Jill Biden, Michelle Obama, and Hillary Clinton have demonstrated

I'm not saying that actually, Secretary Clinton or Michelle Obama or even Jill have that much freedom because I know there are a lot of constraints on just women generally in leadership, but especially a first lady. I think that it is exciting to see the partnership and the respect between two individuals who bring something unique and different and are demonstrating to the world the value of the feminine and the value of the woman next to the man having a voice and having a platform where she can help people. She say, Pwadway, Gavin, either Gavin is acknowledged it or people around him, like somebody who would be his chief of staffer or is like that, you know, running his campaign realized she is going to be a problem.

27:45They're leaders of gun. They pick new leaders, they're gun. They pick new leaders, they're gun. And now they're looking for new leaders again. Yeah, that's Donald Trump yesterday. He's trying to combat, I think, to a certain extent. The, well, I'll read the New York Post editorial board headline today was ignore the media's hysteria. Iran's reduced to tactics of desperation. You'd never know it from media reports, but the Iranian regime is struggling to survive what's left of it. And the idea that the media is acting like Iran is either winning or battling us to a draw, which is, it doesn't appear to be the case. So I think it's hard to claim that. Yeah. And why Trump was saying that. We'll get to, uh, so a little more news of what's happening right now with the war and then some really interesting analysis on how close we might be to the end of it. In Bremer, tweeted out yesterday, the United States threatening Iran with additional destruction is no longer a deterrent for Iran's remaining leaders. What if that's true? It's just like, good, good. You're going to keep bombing the crap out of us. We know.

28:46You have to dead end or religious fanatics. That would make sense. Yeah. I don't, I don't know. I got one more question for you. Um, after he said, nobody's even shooting at us. Do we know more about that stealth fighter that was hit? I think it was yesterday and believed we've been hit by a Iranian fire. Right. I don't know much about the fog of war. I don't know. They got a lucky shot at shocking. Because those stealth fighters are practically invisible to radar. Right. Um, Victor Davis Hansen kind of gets into that a little bit here in a second, which I think will make sense. A couple other points of note. There have been a couple of rockets hit really close to your holiest of holy sites there in the old city of Jerusalem. And one reporter at least is wondering if this is on purpose. It's starting to look. Well, I'll read the original one. This map of Jerusalem shows a black rectangle marking the temple mount. The site of the dome of the rock. The red dots indicate the approximate locations of Iranian missile impacts

29:47in Israel's capital over the last two weeks. Could the IRGC actually be trying to hit? They all oxa mosque one of the holy sites in all of Islam and some deranged Hail Mary attempt to frame Israel for damaging it. And you know, rouse all Muslims around the world with video here showing this cluster munition that flew directly over the oxa mosque and landed just 200 meters away. The shell would have destroyed the domes. So there's some belief that they think that by destroying the holy site in their religion, they can somehow get Muslims all worked up about, I don't know. I wondered that when I saw some bombs hit close to the some other historic, you know, they're for Judaism, Christianity, and Islam. Some of the most holy sites in the entire planet are right there within a couple of blocks of each other. And I rock it, hit close by and everybody's like, what were you trying to hit there?

30:48Was that a stray? But now there've been a whole bunch of them hitting nearby. You've got to remind yourself, yeah, they're a government, but they're also a death cult. So there's really no no tactic, no move they wouldn't make. That's oh, that would be too desperate and bizarre, right? You just really, you can't say that. Now getting to Victor Davis Hansen and his explanation of how he thinks we're close to the end, I thought this was really interesting. Victor Davis Hansen, he's a historian we've had him on the air a few times. He's written some really great books. He has spent 50 years studying how wars end. And his book, The Father of Us All, about just about war in general, how it's just always existed, always will exist. And it's just part of the human condition is really good. But he has been studying wars his entire life going back to the ancient wars. So his argument isn't based on what the Pentagon is saying in news reports, it's based on how everyone else is behaving, starting with the Europeans. Victor Davis Hansen says, Europeans never agree to go anywhere near a conflict,

31:53unless they think the winning side is already determined. They didn't help in the early days. Now they're starting to move. That movement is not idealism. It's a calculation. They've looked at the battlefield and decided which way this ends. That's pretty interesting. Why did the Europeans all of a sudden sign onto that letter with Japan yesterday? VDH thinks it's because they've determined we're going to win. Iran's going to fall and they want to be on the winning side of it. I got a great thing I didn't get to round to reading. It's from the Kissinger biography that Neil Ferguson wrote. And it's from late 60s and Kissinger saying even in the 60s, how Europe is of no help and will never come to our help under any circumstances. And we need to stop picking up the bulk of the tab for all world defense because they've just caught on to the fact that we'll always do it and they don't have to. And that was in 68 or something like that. He's so right. Anyway, I hope they don't design an entire society around that fact and have a giant bloated

33:00welfare state and completely choke their economies off. So it's not just the Europeans that may have recognized how this war is going to turn out. The Gulf petro nations, the Saudis, the Emirates, the Qataris. These governments have survived for generations by reading the regional climate with precision. When they expel Iranian military attaches, when they intercept Iranian missiles over their own capitals and say nothing about American strikes, when the UAE reaffirms its $1.4 trillion investment commitment to the United States mid-war, they are not making ideological statements. They are placing bets and they are betting in the United States is going to win this thing. That's an interesting one. And then this one, Morning Joe Scarborough on MSNBC the other day was reading this Al Jazeera news report. This is the one that should stop you cold. Al Jazeera, the Qataris State Media Network, historically critical of American military action. The network that Tucker Carlson and the anti-war right love to cite against Israel is now calling the US bombing campaign brilliant and effective and saying it has been underestimated.

34:04When the media outlet of a nation that hosts both the largest American airbase in the Middle East and a Hamas political office starts praising American military effectiveness, this message is unmistakable. They think we are going to win. And then a military signal that he said is important. The A-10 warthogs and Apache helicopter gunships are now flying strike missions in Iranian airspace at will. You only deploy those aircraft when there is effectively no air defense left to threaten them. They are slow, low flying, close support platforms. Their presence confirms what the Pentagon has been claiming Iran has no meaningful air defense remaining. Iran's strategy is now roped up, run out the clock, wait for American public to shift, hope the mid-terms create political pressure on Trump to stop. It's the only play they have left. I thought all that made a great analysis. I thought all of that made really good logical sense. The way Europe's behaving, the way the countries around Iran's behaving, and the fact that we're flying low, low, low flying, slow aircraft around Iran now.

35:05Right, right. Yeah, that stuff about the Gulf States is so clearly true. You know, as I'm always saying, you don't have friends in the Middle East. You just have transactional relationships. I remember of all people, Osama bin Laden saying, you know, in their culture, you always back the strong horse. I mean, you root for the strong to triumph. They're looking at the equation, making the obvious conclusion. Here is the thing Henry Kissinger wrote in 1968 about Europe and us taking the role of the world's policeman and all that. It is neither our interest nor that of Europe, that Europe become the grease to our Rome, a political backwater, interesting culturally, but unable to play an active role. This would not be healthy for us because headgenmeat, being the main power, is demoralizing in the long run. I'm urging that the only way we can maintain our influences by reducing our formal predominance.

36:10The present system encourages too many of our allies to shift the costs and responsibilities of the common defense to us. Kissinger recognized that that was happening in the late 60s and was going to happen if we, unless we could turn it around. I don't know how we would have changed it. You'd have had to have a Trump who badmouthed them all the time and said, hey, we ain't going to rescue you anymore. You need to pony up. You have the bluntness of Trump, which is way too much sometimes. I think that was perfectly well placed with NATO, and long overdue. The way the foreign policy establishment, especially the media reacted to all that, oh, he's dishonoring NATO, he's going to blow up NATO. What is NATO? NATO is one giant and then six dwarfs. Not even particularly brownie dwarfs, like weedy, effeminate dwarfs. Yes, no good enough fight. But that's funny, Kissinger was just so right.

37:16Well, it's obvious what's going on, but it's like there's one town. You know, it's kind of a big town, but it has a really robust police force. And it's willing to help the towns around it. And then while those towns start thinking, you know, having a police force is expensive, we could have like nicer parks and take ourselves more and all. Let's get a big swimming pool. And every time there's a crime, we'll call America Heights and say, hey, can you send a couple of cars over here? Because they always do it. Before long, they don't have a police force at all. They got to like one Barney Fife with a car that doesn't run. Oh, wow. Now you call it, Henry. I hope the tide has turned to the way Victor D. his hands and sees it and that ran really is on the ropes. I mean, hoping for a change with the midterm elections, that's November. Eight months from now, seven months from now.

38:17That's a long time. Yeah, there's 100% on the ropes. The question is because the knockout blow is super crazy hard to deliver. I mean, unless you invade, invade. And even then, it's harder now. What does the rumper regime look like? What does it do? What power can it project in and what ways? I hate to always go World War II. But I mean, how incredibly defeated was Germany and he still had to go all the way to freaking Berlin to end it. I mean, they were done for a long time before that. The age man himself in his bunker. There are a couple of blocks away. When he was still moving around imaginary tanks before he, you know, gobbled the barrel of that gun. And people still listening to him and, uh, you know, kind of doing what he's at. Yeah, so I don't know how this ends. We will finish strong with something lighter next.

He had been getting harassed and targeted by this small town Ohio cop shop for a while

43:28and had a terrible relationship and God, he's just brutal on the police chief who's a woman in one of the videos. But they rated his house on like a ledge kidnapping and drug trafficking charges and there wasn't evidence to either one of them and no charges were ever brought. He used a lot of his home security video and video his wife took worth her cell phone of the bust in a bunch of music videos mocking the cops. Okay, and we're prolonged for this one around here but it sounds like they're way out of line. And they sued him for like defamation and emotional harm in the rest of it and he said bring it on and exposed. I mean, for instance, one of the cops claims that that's really one of the reasons that his marriage broke up was the mockery he'd received and the Afro man's attorney called his ex-wife to testify and she's like, no, had nothing to do with it. Right. And so Afro man and it's, I think it's unerable but he put out a video which included video of this guy

44:34who would bust women for drugs and tell them he'd turn them loose if they could have sex and he did this over and over again and videotaped a lot of it. Oh my God. That's why his marriage broke up. Whoa. So Afro man went like the big on the Miss Sean Foreman or whatever his name is. I don't call him Afro man. He went big on the stuff and put out music videos, put it all out. Good for him. That's a terrible cop right there. Oh, it is. Absolutely terrible. Yeah, yeah, yeah. And impunes all the good peace officers everywhere. Awful. But yeah, yeah. And you're telling me my favorite note or yeah, go ahead. Sorry, you're telling us yesterday in the podcast, Katie that Afro man was a big part of your youth. Oh, yeah, that, that because I got high song, everybody knows it. All the words Afro man. Yes, commenting. It's been huge online following this trial and then response and watching the videos and stuff like that. Somebody commented that I'd like to teach a law school class

45:36about this case. And it does include all sorts of interesting aspects of law enforcement and warrants and defamation and expectations of privacy and free speech, all sorts of stuff. Scumbag cop was not only, I mean, yeah. A rest and chicks and then having sex with them. I mean, that is beyond awful. But then he makes a claim that his marriage ended because Afro man's videos, wow. Yes, wow. Now that was a different guy than the pound cake guy who as we described yesterday, again, the Armstrong and getty one more thing, podcast, podcast.
