Education expert reveals why Canada’s teachers abandoned objective truth for identity politics

Stephen Reich, a PhD student at the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education, researching the proliferation of critical theory in K-12 in educational policy, discusses how critical theory and identity politics has replaced objective truth when it comes to how young Canadians are taught.

He argues that neo-Marxist frameworks which divides society into “oppressors” and “oppressed” have created classrooms often focused on activism rather than transmitting civilizational knowledge to the next generation. Reich also examines how these ideological shifts have contributed to a rise antisemitism and offers solutions for fixing the education system, including structured curriculums, historical literacy, and cultivating a shared Canadian identity.
