East London Bus Strike: 300 Drivers Walk Out

0:00On March 12, more than 300 bus drivers from the Boga Raj and East London are set to strike for four days, starting Thursday March 19th through Sunday March 22nd. They're employed by the East London bus and coach company, part of stage coach, and the action will hit seven key routes during the day and night. The routes facing disruptions include the number 8 from Bo Church to Tottenham Core Road, the 25 from Ilford to Holborn Circus, the two. 505 from Bo Church to Selfridges and the 425 from Clapton to Ilford. Night buses like the N8, N25 and N205 will also see issues. Drivers say they're exhausted from covering long stretches without proper breaks and having to star shifts just 10 hours after the last one ends. This setup, they argue, leaves little time for rest and raises big safety worries for everyone on the road. The union behind the strike points to the company's refusal to talk solutions, calling it a dangerous push on worker fatigue.
