Why do we need to make it routine to work on our mental health and improve it every day? Hi, I'm Scarlett Classic and welcome to Classic Advice, a mental health podcast that is guidance for resilient souls and cring-com amid the chaos. I've talked about before the importance of working on our mental health daily to make it practice and this is very similar on the same line as making it routine, making it habit to work on your mental health and why is it important? Why do we need to do that? Well, let's put it this way, if you decided to stop cleaning your house or you decided to stop doing dishes and you weren't allowed to do dishes for a whole week, what would
the state of your kitchen be? It's not very hard to imagine, probably a mess, a lot of dirty dishes. Even if you use paper plates, you still have pots and pans and the like. By making it routine to improve on our mental health, it's like washing the dishes every single day, even when we really don't want to. Make it routine and habit to work on your mental health because it's a lot easier to work on your coping techniques when you're dealing with those really hard emotions, when you've practiced doing them, these new techniques on days when you don't have really big feelings to deal with. If you practice, say you want to do journaling, if you practice doing the journaling on days
that you're good, it will become a lot easier for you to rely on it when you're going through a rough time. If you want to practice taking walks to lower your stress level, then when you're stressed, it will be part of your routine anyways to go for that walk at lunch or go for that walk after work or whatever it may be. How do we make these things routine and how do we make these things habit, so to speak? Is one by reflection and thought and make a plan on when you're going to do it and then going into action and actually doing the thing. You can put your journal on your pillow if you want to write in it before you go to bed or put it on top of the novel that you already read every night so that you're reminded and
you need to pick it up anyways before you get your daily chapter or novel and find out what Frodo is doing next. Practicing mindfulness when you eat, you could make yourself a little sticky and stick it on your lunch box to remind yourself that you want to get into that habit and make it routine. That way, like I already said, on the hard days, when you really need those practices the most, they're already habits. What are you going to do today to make taking care of your mental health a top priority? Listening to a podcast and I dearly, dearly thank you for listening to mine, I listen
to other podcasts as well about mindset and mental health for myself and it's part of my routine when I get in my car in the morning. That's the first thing I do is I flip over to my favorite podcast and I listen and it gets me into that reflective stage and when I'm cruising around and I don't have a podcast then I flip into audiobooks and I listen to an audiobook. Audio books are great. What are you going to do? How are you going to make your mental health routine? And thank you for making me part of your routine. It means the world. I see you guys in my stats and it really does mean the world to me. Absolutely hang on here, especially if I have someone new in my stats. So a special shout out for you guys. If you are in Canada, the United States, Italy, hi Maira, Vietnam, that's a new one.
If you are in Vietnam, I would love to hear from you. Everything to get a hold of me is in the show notes, Ireland and so many more, Bangladesh. I love hearing from my listeners and I love connecting with you guys. So please don't be shy, reach out, I would love to hear from you. Thank you so much for tuning in to classic advice. Guidance for resilient souls. May you stay anchored in what studies you rise resilient through what challenges you and carry calm into whatever comes next. Take care, love you, bye.
