Beere Belly Society, a show where two lifelong friends get together, drink beer and bullshit. I'm Robert, I'm Angel. What's up Angel? Hi, hi. Hi, who's our guest? We don't have a guest. There's no one here. Who's here? What's up man? Introduce yourself. I am Josh. I am. Obviously, I think a lot of the guests can say that they've heard my voice by now. That's a couple times. But it is the first listener. How many have seen it? Okay. Oh. That's what I heard was you have a sexy voice. Yes, what I heard. I'm just more curious on how many people have seen it. Seen it? Seat. What are we talking about right now? Because of this sexual, I'm totally not getting it.

Why they have to make it sexual? Always making it sexual, bro. Always making it weird. But Josh arena from Breakwater, Barley and Sword, is there a third one? Yeah. What is it? Good pressure, bro. Good pressure, bro. This guy, this guy, this guy. Everywhere. Everywhere dude. All the good places. Oh yeah. Oh yeah. I'm not gonna say any cooler today. You normally come loaded. I do. What happened? I'm really sad right now. It means that you gotta bring me on again. No, I'll drink you a little more. That was a smooth way to get asked to come back a second time or like a 30th time for you. At this point, just move in. He's got a spare bedroom. I do like you. We call it that the boom boom room. The boom boom room. The boom boom room. I have no cameras in there. I promise. I'm gonna work up in the middle of this flashing red light. It's an ignore the light.

Just for disclaimer, for legal reasons, a random sign that says maybe recorded or listening devices in this room. That's like those signs that at the store is saying some items in this store may have made cause chemicals or chemicals that make cause cancer. Yeah. That's like that thing to that disclaimer. It's always Mexican candy. If you step into this room, there's a slight chassis. Might get recorded, right? So this episode is brought to you. Brought to you by Rob's little road trip. Yeah. I was wondering where you were going with this whole. That was that introduction took some work. I know. It just spontaneous. It came up with it, but it didn't come out right. Yeah. The intention was there. Yeah. The intention was there, but no, cause I'm upset because we always talked about doing a road trip, your belly side of road trip. I mean, we've gone to a couple places. Denver. Many apples, right? I was waiting for this. I knew this was gonna happen.

You knew this. I knew this was gonna happen. So, but we were supposed to get the gang together. We were. We were. I mean, we did the road trip thing up to 15, but you went all the way up. You went cross state. I know, not cross state. No, but I crossed a lot of freeways. I went through a lot of highways, some freeways, a lot of mountain. I went all the way up to Monterey Bay. Monterey Bay. That's like more than halfway up to the coast. Almost to San Francisco. Yeah, that's like, I've never drawn that like far, like up like the far as I've gone like thousand oaks. Let me tell you something that when you do one of these drives, you gotta, you gotta do is right. You gotta like see what the next brewery is all on the way. So that's what I did. And every time I was thirsty or hungry, I googled a brewery that was a lot in the freeway I was going. But why weren't we invited? So what happened is that you don't have a b***h.

No. Neither one of you. No. Right in me. But I brought you beer. You did. Yeah. And this is disclaimer people that if he had to pick between friends, he always picks with Diana. But I know this. Yeah. So we're friends because we understand this about the. Yeah. Josh wins. Doesn't always always always. That could be your ride. And we could be on the way to go visit your grandma. I will drop you off at grandma's. All right. But I'm not picking you back up. How about I put you in a situation like that movie with like McCulloch and Kalkins and Elijah Wood. It's like good boy and it's like the mom had to choose between who to save her own son or like, but she knows her son is like evil. She decides to let her son go.

There you go. So I was saying like what do you know? I don't know you were that old. Everybody been saying that like the other day I was a good pressure. I was like doing a little home brew batch and and then what I call somebody was like, I was like, Oh, where do you go? Where did you go for like vacation? And they're like, Oh, we went to Chicago. I went to this part. Oh, you might be too young, but this movie called like Groundhog Day. I'm like, Oh, you mean with Bill Mary? Oops. They're like, and then they're like, you know, that movie? I'm like, yeah, I mean classic. Yeah, so classic. So you went up, you traveled and I was about to make another point that if you get arrested and you probably will bill you out, baby, he's with a girl. He's over there. Well, you want to wait a little bit at least at least two minutes. Yeah, at least because you know, I got to finish. And you know, come first. Then I'm glad I don't have your number. You know, they got your brother's got to wait a little bit.

So real shit, though, I was on my way up there. And I was like driving and I'm looking. I'm looking. I'm not lying. I was in the passenger seat. And I'm like, you know what? Your sound is bomb right now. So I started googling places along the way, right? And the first thing that came to mind was, I'm not going to lie. Josh, I'm sorry, but Angel came to mind first. And then you, I think you would have, you would have appreciated the whole road trip. I think you would have appreciated all the beer for sure. And I think it would have just been a great combo. So because of that, when I started thinking that, I was like, you know what? I'm going to buy beers. I'm going to bring them back and invite you guys. So here we are.

So my first place on my way up, I stopped at one place on my way up. Then I stopped at Monterey Bay, obviously. And then on the way back down, I stopped at another city. So first place, wild fields. Now Josh, did you say, did you've already been there or you know somebody from there? What the fuck did you know? It was pretty much. Yeah, pretty much. Pretty much. I mean, it was exactly two years ago where I went to a GABF in Denver. You know, the Great American Beer Festival. And generally, like, you know, it's a big beer festival, but before the beer festival starts or before it starts, it'll have like a war ceremony for like all the entries for like certain styles of beers. And one of the moments after, you know, medals were passed down.

Like everybody, you know, like, because it should be told, like, I've never experienced if like I went to a couple of times drinking at the boots and stuff. But a lot of the birds that win, they don't really like do any of that stuff. They'll go straight to, you know, all over Denver and just like celebrate their win and really just enjoy it, you know. And sure enough, like, I happen to run into the brewer and her husband who's a beer tenor there. And super door woke up, oh, they're like, and we, I mean, we were pretty hammer. Like, I got videos, I'll show you guys after the whole thing, but it was like, they pull out this boot and we're like, nobody could have finished it. And it was like only half of it. Somebody tell me that's boot. Like that's boot. Yeah. That's boot. So please tell me you killed it. I killed it. Oh, I knew it. I knew it. You killed it.

I killed like half thought, like, if you had to say like just finding the boot size, like, I killed like half the thigh, like half the calf and all the down. That's covered away. Yeah. And it was, it was their great. That means you will. Yeah. I mean, extra room for that beer. Yeah. But yeah, I met her. She won, she had just won gold in a, a, a, a cream out. Oh, nice. Yeah. So they had a lot of awards. Yeah, exactly. Dude, they're, so first of all, I want to say this was like, this was the motivating like stop. Yeah. Because it was like a dot until I got there. It was like, hey, you want, you hungry? You want to have some lunch, you know? Yeah. My treat. Yeah. So I didn't see the burger into the hall. Before she, before she realized it was pulling up to a brewery, right?

And like roller eyes or something. Basically, basically because she's like, I don't want pub food. Yeah. I'm like, uh, we're already here. Yeah. So what's the dress right afterwards? You know, there was a carl junior. And I did say that's how we're friends. Yeah. I swear to God, that's the first thing that, that was my first stop when she brought it up. I'm like, if you don't find something to eat, we'll stop by carl junior. Yeah. That's the triple diabolical people. Ooh, delicious. No, that's possible. We're looking for sponsorship. Crossed, right? So you've never been there, Josh? I've never been there. I promised her that one day I would go. So look at these pictures. Just go up basically because if you go down, you're going to go to the other pictures from the other brewery. But the spot is pretty chill, dude. I love that they have, like when you first walk in here, so you can see them, when you first walk in, you're like almost like walking into the register area where you order your food and beer and into the right is there are like other tanks.

And I personally always love when I walk into a brewery and I see like the set up, all the tanks, everything there, like, like you can see, you can almost see all the hard work, you know, like, yeah, I'm already picturing everything that's going on in there. So I love seeing the work area and then you walk in and the place, do the place number for starters was like jammed packed. It was a fucking Monday evening jam packed. I want to say that it was a small town. So like you either go to the brewery or the mini golf, you know, like there's that say I was so mean because that place was packed. They have like a little arcade area. Yeah, I saw that. A bunch of fucking like, you know, a bunch of kids that are playing fucking air hockey and all this shit. They have apparently I didn't even see it. I was told that they have a fucking like two lanes for bowling.

Oh, damn. Dude, this place is biggest. It looks big. Dude, it's big. So did you see all the people? Yeah. And I saw that. And I thought I got to like, they have our case and games right then the back. So on their website, they got a little bit, a little thing right there. It's about us, it says here. Uh huh. The crap beer community has been a huge part in founders Ryan and Jackie Lies. It is even how they met since being brought together by the craft beer world. They have dreamt of starting their own brew pub. The dream started to kids were born and a lot of life was live. I was not noise in between, but are we location to untie because they're all as a thought city? I guess so. I was dropped by. I don't know. Well, fear of brew house is the local brew pub crafter as a comfortable space for beer lovers and families alike. And it's a nice passion and art for making a world class high quality brew shines and it's complemented by fun, homestow, food, food menu, our facility includes mini bowling

lanes. Fun fact, our building was a bowling alley in its past life. Oh, yeah. For shade games, uh, Fools boy, air hockey and a toddler corner. If you love beer, we've got that. If you have kids, we got you covered. If you have a kid, if you're a kid at heart, don't worry. The arcades are for adults too. So legitimately that description, that's what I lived. Yeah. Like, bro, it was such a fucking good stop. It motivated me for the rest of the trip. All right. So the big question is so we know that it's big. All right. So, well, okay. So your first impression was basically the size. Yeah, the size of the place. Well, and then I walked in and it was, it was, bro, it was a Monday, like at four o'clock, like packed. They brought in, they literally brought in fucking tables. They were like folding like the white ones that you bought, that you buy at Walmart. Yeah. And like, and chairs at the day, like they brought out of the fucking warehouse basically. Oh, really?

That's how packed this place was. And that, that starts improvising. It was ridiculously packed. Well, I mean, to me, I'm just basically reading that. I'm already impressed. Arcade, Fools boy, air hockey, and many bowling alley. I'm not for it now. So I'm just saying it was a really good stop. I'm sorry you guys weren't there, but really good stop. I tried for, so I tried a flight. And I did a rice logger, October fest, and English brown, and a WCIPA. What does that stand for? WC, well done. What's close IPA? There we go. So I tried those. Let me tell you, I wrote some notes. So you guys want to start pointing your first one? I'm sorry, because you had like a 20 bird together. You got one bird from there? Well, we got, yeah, we only got one from here from this place. So this is actually, no people, this would be like a three-part episode.

So this one, this is part one out of three. Scottish. That's OK. So what is it here? Read it out. So the name is Magic Swirling Sip. Ooh. It is a Scottish L at 5.5. A Scottish L? I don't think we've ever had a Scottish L on the show. You're welcome. Well, I mean, Barley does a Scottish. Barley, Barley and Tor does a Scottish. But I never had it on the show. But we never had it on the show. Yeah. So let me read the description. Scottish X4L, sometime referred to as a 80-shelving or shawling. It is the strongest of the Scottish Ls. Not as strong as a Scotch L. This beer is a nice, multi-note, so caramel and toffee, a medium body, and a very low, top-bittering neck. Deep red in color with just a little touch of roast character. This beer is complex, but yeah, drinkable. 5.5. All right.

So Josh, the whole reason why I thought of you was because I want you to tell me, you're going to be the harshest critic here, OK? I just want you to understand that. You like me being a bad guy, don't you? No, I just love being a good guy. I don't care who the bad guy is. Like, is it hate me? I think I ain't being a bad guy. That's why I'm on the show. No. Is that why he has you as the demon? Yeah. You know? So first of all, Angel, you went ahead and poured yourself a little, we're sharing these because we got a long night. Long night, I was. Josh, you get full pints. Yeah, I had a rough day today. You had a rough day. So Angel did his first taste. What do you think, man? It's delicious. Yes. Score? Score. Score. Good. I'm happy. What do you think, Josh?

Tell me his nasty. Tell me you hate it. Look, he's pouring more into his cup. I'm trying to find a flora. I'm not going to try to find a flora, but so far I don't have nothing. No flours. All right, so it's ice cold, literally. You know how hard it was to keep this in the fridge and not drink it? I went out trouble. What do you think? Oh, look at his face. Well, he's an expert. So he's a pre-teacher. He's tearing it apart right now. Yeah. Uh-oh. Maybe I should say something first. When a buffet? Yeah. Just a little. Just a little. Little, little, little taste-taking down. So come on, Josh, your opinion has weight here. That's, that's rich. Like what? It's rich. Yeah, it's like the, the, the, how I say, like the, the idea of like this, this nice, like multi bone, like backbone to it where it's like a slight roast, but it's like kind

of like, uh, because it's not smoky and it's not like, um, you do get this sweetness, it's definitely toffee notes characters to it. Um, also just with the idea of like it being very like, uh, how the, the, the, the description on the can, it's really, uh, apparent to what, you know, and you, you're getting to as you're, you know, taking that first sip. So it definitely, uh, comp, I, I'd say this is really well. Like, and this is an award winning beer too. So I got to talk to the owner for a few minutes. Yeah. And basically like, so they were so busy. Yeah. But the fact that he took three minutes just to, just to talk to some, to some random ass guy that's coming through town. And, and I told him, look, man, it's obviously got a great place. You know, but it's packed. Everybody likes it. Uh, I've ordered some food. I've ordered some beers.

I got some flights. Everything fucking was amazing. Now what do you recommend for me to take? Mm hmm. Like what's, like what, what are you, what are you proud of? And this is what he, he recommended me to bring. Nice. Good pick. So I, I just figured out that I'm going to go second on these reviews. Mm hmm. Because you're, I can't top your description and your, your explanation there. Like, like, like, like, like, like, hold on, hold on. It's nutty. I just take some part. Yeah. You know me like my mind had a little head. I don't know if I made a difference or not, but I liked it with a little head right there. I feel like you did a little hard pour there. I like that. I like that shit. I don't know about, you know, does that like, does that like expand on the flavor, having a little head on the beer? Yeah. I mean, like, I know like some people like, man, like me working at breakwater, like,

I've come across like so many people like, so I met this like a guy who's, originally from London. Yeah. He drinks my mask and logger. Mm hmm. Apparently he's not a big, like, he doesn't not like head on the beer. Oh really? He's like, but I'm like, I get it, you know, this guy part of drink a bunch of cash beer in his past, like in his past life as a younger, you know, lad. Yeah. And in the country, he was out, you know? But I think that at least for me, like, if it's a light beer, I don't like, like, head off at all. Right. But when it comes to that darker beer, like if, for instance, the Scottish L, was the Scottish L? Yeah. Or something darker than a porter or style. I love head. No. Yeah. That's a good valid point. Yeah. Because I too, like, I find that the multi character, like, comes out really well when like a beer has, like to me, like, um, it's just a little, uh, funny. Sometimes like, I was telling so many last time, I was like, the next beer I'm trying

to do is like a dark check logger. And the way I like trying to picture it is like, I want the head, but it's not like off white, like more like a 10 dollar, like a 10, like head to it. I don't know. It's getting very descriptive. Rob, like, you know what I'm, you know, so I know that face that I just made, bro. Remember? So when you guys came in the house, I was, I was attending to my garden. Yeah. And you know what I garden, you know what I garden. So I was telling to my garden and we were talking about the process of what I'm doing. Yeah. And you guys are like giving me this look. And now look, I feel that you were giving me as the same look I was just giving you. But that look for me was from like, man, like your crap, you like love your craft so much that you like, you want it, you want to even dial in the head.

Yeah. Like you want a specific color. Yeah. Like, bro, the fact that you can't even figure out how to change the color of it to the way you want it to look like. That's what can med, med science is shit. Yeah. Bro, that's why I look at that. Look what I like, like, like respect. I'm sorry. Sorry. I'm not going to verify that. No, of course. That was a med science is shit. Respect to that. I love it. Whoa, I mean, I don't, I don't, it's funny. Like how you say like that, Rob, because like a couple of weeks ago, I went for like my nieces first birthday party. And went to go see like my dad's side of family and they really still don't understand why I love it, you know. Oh, yeah. They like right away. Like one of them finally like was like, you really like doing this. Don't you? I'm like, hold on. And that's rare. That's like finding what you like to do and getting paid for it. That's fucking awesome. Yeah.

Yeah. And every time I talk to you, I learn a little more about you. And it's just, it comes out every time. Yeah. You live, you breathe in. This is your shit. Like, like, if I, well, I still don't know what I like to do. But if I've found a job that I really love, right? And I thought I was podcasting. Yeah. We get paid for this. But I mean, like, and I got paid for it. Right. It doesn't have to be, it can be like less than what I make right now. My regular job. But if I'm happy, it's all you work there. Yeah. But this is what you got to view it though, because if it's less technically, we only do an hour show. Yeah. So if you make 10% less than what you make at your day job, you still make it a killing per hour. Yeah. Sure. All right. So while we finish this is beer before you ask him to say, I just wanted to talk about these the flag. Like literally, yeah, go ahead man. And I got like four thoughts, like one thought on each. Okay. So the first one was it says sunrise locker. It in, I'm probably butchering here, but it's easy.

It I see you. Oh, sunrise locker. And I literally just jot it down really quick notes. A solid, super smooth beer. Mm hmm. You know, because I just I like it out a couple of couple thoughts on it. The second one was a October fest. And to be honest, I'm not a big fan of October fest beers. No, not. I'm sorry, but I'm not. I never said that out loud. We're going to have to talk about this. Yeah, I've never said out loud. I think if you could listen to every episode we ever had, I've never said it, but I'm not a big fan of October fest beers. But I can't believe how smooth it was. Maybe I was just thirsty, but it was a really good beer. So I felt like I had to tell you my little secret before I told you what I thought about

this beer. Mm hmm. Because I really, really enjoyed it. It was a long ass drive, probably like fucking like four or five hours into the trip. So it was hot. It was a long drive and having just a little beer to your lips, you know, how it makes a good fucking like thirst quencher. So then I had the fourth one is Pine Mountain Monolith English Brown. Now that's on this. As soon as I even heard the fucking name, I was like, that's got to be a good one. I heard the name. I'm like, that's thirsty. So it looked on point, by the way, we'll post the pictures. And looked on point, I go, it was the tastiest one. Great English Brown. That was my quick note. Remember I had a company and I was supposed to not be working, but I was working.

That's Coast IPA. Let's see what I had to say about a West Coast IPA from Not San Diego. The IPA was very smooth and light. When I say that, because when I see West Coast IPA, I wanted like fucking like punch me in a gut. Yeah, that a biter. That's a good one. You know, like I'm expecting, like I'm not going to make a bitter face because I'm a man, but I'm expecting like, you got balls, you know, be a man. But I put some hair in my chest. It was a little light. It was a little light for me, like taste wise, but it was good. It was a nice, hot day. I would have had more. All right. So out of all four, what's your favorite? The brown. Brown? Yeah. It sounded good. It was delicious. It was the Scottish shell or like the Scotch shell. Uh-huh. It was good. I bet you that brown was pretty good. So okay, other question before we move on to the news.

If you had a pick between the Scottish ale, how to brown. This one. This one, Scotch ale. Yeah. Because this is delicious. Yeah. Yeah, it's delicious. I'm going to tell it in a bit. So yeah. Well, thank you for bragging about your real trip. Next episode will be his second stop. Thanks. But, you know, like since this is a beer podcast, there's, you know, a lot of things are going on and I want your opinion charged about this. Uh-oh. That stone drink closing is as Candila facility eliminating about 220 jobs as production leave San Diego. Okay. So as everyone knows in the beer industry, firestone bought off stone from support. Uh-huh. For I guess here is according to a San Diegoville, which apparently a lot of people don't like but in the industry. Yeah. Yeah. I guess a sold four years ago, after some very sold itself to Japanese beer giant support for 165 million. The dismantling of San Diego's once fiercely anti corporate craft beer party years is accelerating.

Just months of the adiaconic stone brand was sold yet again. This time, firestone Walker in theville, USA, support was shutting down stones massive as Candila's brewery and related facilities eliminating that approximately 220 jobs. And bringing an end to the North County production empire that helped make San Diego an international craft beer capital. The irony is difficult to miss a brewery that spent decades railing against corporate beer ultimately sold to a multinational conglomerate. Change hands again and now it's watching hundreds of local workers lose their jobs as much of its namesake beer production leave San Diego. What do you think, Josh? What do you think? What if I was to tell you I kind of knew this was going to happen? I think a lot of people knew this. Well, no, but Josh knows like, but you need to know. But you need to know when somebody was thinking about it and about, they're taking a piss before anybody else knew this who apparently was like in the next year, no, and hurting. Everyone was okay. Everyone knows everything.

Everyone was speculated, but Josh knew for sure. Well, truth be told, now that this like, like I said, I don't think I've ever like publicly said it like on a podcast or anything. But so what it was is the first hand was when I was out in Minneapolis last year, like exactly a year ago, I was in Minneapolis. I had met two people that worked for Separro Stone. Okay. One of them worked at the Escondito location and the other one worked at the one in Virginia. Because I don't know if you know that they have a Virginia location. So the one in the Virginia location, I was hanging out with him a lot at the time. Like because I didn't know that there was a stone in Virginia. They never talk about it out here. So right away, you know, we had, we're a couple beers deep. And it's funny because we're like geeky now and on measurement.

You know, he's like, yeah, I kind of wish like you in the United States would be more on the period versus US metrics, you know. We got to when conversation comes on, it gets heated. Yeah. Let me see. Keep going. I want to hear who wears the sparks flu. America, fucker. Then next thing you know, he was like kind of telling me he was like, oh, but like on like low key, I was like, I was brought on this trip to come up with some ideas because Virginia has been brewing a little bit more than Escondito. And he was like the, it seems like the owner of Sapporo are more interested in keeping Virginia over Escondito. Oh, shit. So he kind of was like, I don't know what it could be, but things are going to change within the year. It kind of like, you know, prophesized that to me. And so first of all, I thought we were friends because I don't know why we're just fighting

out now that you knew this. How long ago? A year ago. You're a dick. No, you know what? You can't have the second beer. Damn. That's the hurt. I'm sorry. You can have it. Yeah, but to be like more relevant to the thing and stuff like just with everything going in the industry, he seems like a lot of breweries are closing, but in the sense of like some of them are finding to go in a more smaller footprint. So when like how you mentioned it with Sapporo's down, they're interesting. They were only ever interested in getting their beer out in the US market. They weren't trying to promote stone. They were just trying to use their, all their equipment, all their resources, just to make the brand better. It was never to get stone up there.

It's a bonus. But now it was never going to be something that like, Sapporo was going to like make stone beer, creating it in that sense. But he's the Josh Trump or your big, to probably or stone beer, great again. It's an amazing. A lot of his breweries sell off small anti-corporate and all that shit, but the moment the big money goes in, like, oh, yeah, sure. Hey, man, you act right. You act like if somebody came out and wanted to buy beer, but it's a society. It's gone. Hey, hey, hey. I have a number. I have a number. I'm not anti-corporate. Go for the right price. I can get along. We are. We are got a number. We are got a number. We are got a number. Ten million dollars. So good. But to leave it off to note, like, it just seems that like just based on fire stone, they weren't interested in getting another facility.

They're interested in definitely picking up the brand itself. But not like, like they'll still brew stone beer, but it just seems where everybody else is like finding that it's a lot cheaper to pay somebody else to make their product than to actually own a facility. And all these facilities, like, I mean, I was hearing a lot of time with the guy from Escondito was like every time there was a maintenance order, you know, getting put in all this broke today or that broke before. All right. I have to get like all these tickets are just like adding up and it just seems like every day something that they have to fix. So I was literally just having like a conversation with the guy that's after him about that. Like, it's not in construction. Look, you know, different animal still service like you have, you have a product, you got

to put it out, how to put it out the cheapest way. So for me, I'm coming to find out that having an in house employees is less cost effective than to just sub it out. Because a sub is, I'm usually going to sub it to like an owner that still does the work. And he's going to come in and I bust his ass because he wants to make as much money per hour. And when I got my guys, I paid by the hour, I paid him by the hour. They want as many hours as possible. Yeah. So they'll milk it. Yeah. So it ends up costing me more. So I've been slowly subbing more out and beer industry. I was, I feel like sometimes it's just more cost effective. Never doubt it like that. But yeah, that makes total sense. Yeah. So it's different animal, different product, but it's still just business. Yeah. It's money's a bottle. Yeah. Yeah. So yeah, man, tough. Yeah. It sucks. Well, I mean, first it was a ballast, but one of the pioneers of craft and before that,

I think Stone came up before ballast, right? Well, I mean, well, ballast has sold a couple of times, but I mean, they were the first one to like officially and then the Stone came out around late 90s, isn't it? No. Yeah. Well, that was two. That was two. Yeah. They were the two pioneers of San Diego craft beer today. And I mean, they definitely are like the foundation of San Diego craft beer. But I mean, obviously, you know, how many breweries have evolved in that time? Now we have a lot of people that are like playing like chess pieces, you know? I think about it from like a little like a big picture kind of like I see like the pillars of San Diego craft beer. I think Stone, ballast, car of straws. All right. So I think about those being like giant pillars that hold the craft beer industry and send everyone out like I agree.

And but now you got stone is spot out multiple times. Ballast is hanging on by I say hanging on by a thread because it's not as big as it used to be. And Carl Strasse is still there. You know, I was adding Coronado to the mix. Yeah. Coronado brewery. Exactly. They've been like, you know, in the mix for long 30 years to be exact. That's true. But they keep in it like more central more. Yes. I think that's in the plain to say which is which is more. So I mean, it's evolving and I guess it's as a reflection of the industry itself here in San Diego. Like it's not as big as it used to be. But you have thriving small locally owned breweries that are still killing that could take the home. That's that's what this episode is about. By the way, these guys are out there. They're still making it happen. Josh one of these days is going to come in and say, Hey, guys, I have my own place. Yeah. And you're going to be like leading contender out here.

I know it. And it'd be one of the newest pillars to do this in the industry, right? Yeah. We got a lot of a lot of bright futures, but a lot of industry giants that are it's a transition for sure. There you go. In the middle of a transition. Yeah. Yeah. All right. So all right. So this week to be real quick, I'm going to give it a five out of five. Plans. Solid. Yeah. What about you, Josh? I'm going to give it five out of five. Five out of five. I didn't want to be. I know Rob is like, I want him to rate the lowest. I'm not even going to be like a four to half because I don't like giving five to just anybody for a scholarship, bro, for this. It was delicious. And maybe if we got like the owner to talk to you a few more minutes and maybe two more minutes, you would have got like a four point seven. But I only want to create location. Yeah, good. I loved it. The place was really chill, dude. That description they have online is not bullshit. It's literally that's what you're walking into.

I mean, I want to say I still need to go out there. I mean, I promised them last time when I let's go. Let's go, bro. I got to have that take. I might not work this weekend. I might be free this weekend. I won't find out till later on though. Like I think I'm off to sleep. You'll have me though, but this was a really good stop. As far as location, I definitely give them a five. The service was on point. Even though they're so busy, we get a five. So overall, really good ratings on everything. I love the stop. All right, so we'll have to stop by one of these days. Maybe go without Ross and see such a day. Oh, yeah. Throw it in there. Okay. So people will be, and I'll share you my location. No, I can let you know where I'm at. Yeah. All right. So we're going to call this one a wrap. All right. And we're going to see you next week. For part two. Part two. Next stop in Monterey Bay. Yay. As always, thank you for joining the society.

Bye.
