Duke Lands Massive Center, Slips in Rankings

0:00On May 1, Duke basketball just landed a massive 7-foot 230-pound 5-star center named Joaquin Bume-Jé Bume-Jé from Spain for their 2026 class. This 16-year-old phenom from FC Barcelona is reclassing to join the Blue Devils right away this season, but he won't turn 17 until late, May, so he'll need at least two years in college before eyeing the NBA draft in 2028. Like this big get, Duke's recruiting class actually slipped again in the national rankings. They held the top spot for most of the cycle under coach John Shire, dropped to number two last week when Arkansas snagged four-star Miica Marinin. And now with Bume-Jé Bume-Jé in the fold, they're down to number three behind Kansas. Fans are buzzing about Shire's streak. He locked down the number one class the past two years, but other schools are making moves too. Kansas jumped ahead by adding the class's top overall player, Tyron Stokes, alongside five-star point guard Taylin Kinney, to headline Bill Selfs.
