Per una volta ad essere "gabbati" sono stati i ladri, che hanno trafugato una copia falsa della "Crocifissione" di Pieter Brueghel il giovane dalla chiesa di Santa Maria Maddalena a Castelnuovo Magra. Grazie ad una soffiata, i Carabinieri hanno sostituito l'originale con una fotografia. Tre volte negli anni i ladri hanno tentato di rubarla. In un caso, negli anni '70, ci sono riusciti ma fortunatamente l'opera è stata ritrovata pochi mesi dopo. Un quadro rubato due volte, anzi: una volta e mezzo!
