Driver Maxes Out Breathalyzer at 5x Legal Limit

0:00On March 30th, a 25-year-old driver from Northland Road in Dairy blew such a massive alcohol level that the breathalyzer straight up maxed out and couldn't record it. Court heard the device tops at 199 mg of alcohol per 100ml of breath, but Patrick Kelly exceeded that buy. So much it kept climbing. That's over 5 times the legal limit of 35 mg. He snapped him last Saturday afternoon, March 28th, while checking out reports of theft and criminal damage on Bunkrona Road. He matched the suspect's description, sitting in a car with a bottle of vodka right in his hand, and the smell of booze hit them hard. Kelly was already on bail with a strict no alcohol rule, but this marked his fifth violation. Offerses pointed out his 41 prior convictions and stressed the high risk he'd mess up again or ditch conditions. Saying he'd done six months inside already, and no ID lineup had happened since the charges last July, but District Judge Una Molland shut it down.
