Dozens of repatriated Indigenous cultural objects arrive in Canada

Sixty-two Indigenous cultural objects previously held for a century in the Vatican Museums have arrived in Canada as part of a historic repatriation effort. The items were formally gifted by Pope Leo to the Canadian Conference of Catholic Bishops (CCCB) in November and arrived at the Montréal-Pierre Elliott Trudeau International Airport on Saturday, December 6, 2025.
