Neglect starts as an infection. And if you don't take care of it, it becomes a disease. And one neglect leads to another. And the worst of all, when Neglect starts, it diminishes our self-worth, our self-confidence, our self-value. It's easy to take the easy option. It's easy to rationalize. If no one around you was living at a high level, no one around you was achieving at the highest level, it might seem okay to take you these. It's easy to get in a big, average, miserable risk. What's not easy is putting in the work when you don't feel like. What's not easy is continuing to raise the bar when everyone around you remains the same. See, the way in which we operate, ladies and gentlemen, it's a manifestation of what we believe, what's possible for us. Whatever you've done up to this point, all that it really is, is a duplication, it's a reproduction of what you believe subconsciously,
that you deserve and what's possible for your life. Most people operate out of their personal history, out of their memory, things they've done, things they've experienced, things they've seen, things that they have observed. What I'm suggesting that you operate out of a large vision of yourself. I want you to see yourself doing what you want to do, experiencing what you want to experience it. Having what you want to have, doing what it is that gives your life some meaning and value. Operate out of your imagination, not your memory. Because whatever you look at where you want to go, I'm wanting to warn you, you will have some conversation back here after you go through the data that you've experienced in life saying you can't do it. And so what you want to begin to do is ignore that inner conversation. The biggest strength in life will be the perception that you have over yourself. How do you feel about yourself? Yourself worked. What is that? See, confidence is the greatest asset you could ever have. And that is built based on experience,
based on living. If you want to be successful, you have to change this. This has to change. Listen to me. What makes it hard is your lack of belief that it can happen to you. The fact that it is though, it's very dual. See, but you got to change though. If you keep doing what you've been doing, you don't keep getting what you've been getting. So if you're at a place in your life and you ain't happy with it, you have to change something. But you have to make a conscientious decision that you're going to change. And it's not dependent on anybody else. It don't matter what your mama thinks. It don't matter what your coworkers think. It don't matter what your siblings think. It don't matter what your children think. It don't matter. They have nothing to do with it. This decision is yours and yours alone. It's your life.
You got it. What you're going to do with it? You've got to be able to see it when it cannot be seen. You have to see it happening. You have to believe in the unseen. Because if you can't believe in it, you will never manifest it. But when you believe in it, you demand a universe to assist you in what you're doing. And if you can see it before everybody else can see it, then it's going to eventually come to you. We're so familiar with ourselves. We tend to take ourselves for granted. We tend to minimize the things we can accomplish, the goals we can reach. And for some equally strange reason, believe others can accomplish things in our field, which we cannot. There are literally millions of human beings living narrow, darkened, frustrated lives living defensively, simply because they take a defensive doubtful attitude toward themselves, and as a result, toward life in general. Many people are suspicious of and oppose change. Yet change is the one thing in life on which we can absolutely count. People who stay young all the years of their lives,
not only welcome change, but see it for what it really is, new opportunity, new chances for further, fulfillment. Attitude is a reflection, a result of a person's will. It is incalculably powerful. It can bring about marvelous results for us, but we need to train it patiently day by day. Now let's talk about the attitudes of people who are successful, the top 5% of the people who go sailing through life from one success to another and who even when they fail at something, shrug it off and head right out again. No matter who the person is or what he does, men and women in sales, business executives, people in all the professions, wives and mothers, students, top people in the armed forces, public servants, men and women in the service of religion, working men and women in all fields of endeavor, wherever you find a person doing an outstanding job and getting outstanding results, you will find a person with the right kind of attitude.
These people take the attitude toward themselves that they can accomplish what they set out to accomplish, that there's no good reason on earth why they can't be competent, successful. They have a healthy attitude toward themselves and as a result toward life and the things they want to accomplish. And because of this, they achieve some remarkable things and they come to be called successful, outstanding, brilliant, lucky and a lot of other things. They're quite frequently no more brilliant or outstanding than the majority of the people by whom they're surrounded, but they did develop the right attitude and they found their accomplishments not too difficult and many times surprisingly easy, simply because it seems that so few are really trying, really believing themselves. Successful people come in all shapes and sizes and in widely varying degrees of intelligence, background and so on, but they all have one thing in common. They expect more good out of life than bad, they expect to succeed more than they fail. If you want something worthwhile, take the attitude that there are a lot more reasons
why you can't have it, then there are that you cannot and set out to earn it. Go after it, work at it, ask for it, and nine times out of ten, you'll get it. Our environment is really a mirror of our mental attitude. If we don't like our environment, we have to change our attitude first. You are quite capable and I don't even know what you were in, but I do know this, you can turn your annual income into a monthly income. You're very capable of doing that. Now you may think that I'm exaggerating. You can't exaggerate when you start talking about the potential of a human being. Stop and take a look at the way we communicate today. I remember when I was a kid when I saw the first television set. If anybody had told me at that time it was black and white and it was snow and somebody would appear on the screen and then they'd go away again. If somebody had said, listening, you're a lifetime, you'll be able to put one on your wrist. Self-contained and living color. Somebody can shoot something going on on the other side of the world you can watch the Olympics on your wrist. You just thought they were right out of their mind, but all that's going on. In fact, that's nothing today compared to what we're capable of doing.
You can just take a little camera on our computer and look at the other person and talk to them anywhere in the world. Doesn't even cost you a nickel. Are we moving ahead? I think we're moving ahead at a rapid rate. But I'm going to tell you something. The people that are taking this there are not letting the paradigm stop them. And I don't want you to let the paradigm stop you. I want you to stop and think of where you're going and what you're doing. And when you go to break out of the paradigm, it's because you're using a bigger idea than what you're conditioned to. Now remember I said that conditioning is cause you to feel comfortable. It's only when you go to change the conditioning that you feel the discomfort. And when you get emotionally involved with it, you can be thinking of the change until you internalize it and nothing happens. But the second you internalize it, everything goes haywire. Why? You're dealing with the central nervous system. You're messing with the paradigm. You've heard the saying habits die hard. Well, you put a million of them together and see what happens. Yet it's like a wall. And you bounce off that wall and you'll go back and live in your conformed state of bondage
and justify why you should stay there. Don't let that happen. Absolutely refuse to let that happen. If you've got an inspiration to move, to quit your job, to start a business, whatever you want to do, step out and do it. I mention in another series that God's gift to us was more talent and ability than we'll ever hope to use in our lifetime. And our gift to God is to develop as much of that talent and ability as we can in this lifetime. Your true values are only expressed in your actions in what you do. You can tell what you truly believe by observing what you do in any situation in which you have to make a choice, especially when you are under stress and pull in two directions at once with opposing demands or responsibilities. This is when your true values are revealed. The action that you take in any given situation will tell you which of your values is uppermost or whether you have any values at all. It is not what you say, hope, wish or intent, but only what you do that counts.
Your choices of the actions you take tell you unerringly who you really are. You can develop within yourself a superb set of values by acting as though you already had those values. You can develop integrity and courage and compassion and confidence by behaving as though you already had these qualities. The more you act the part, especially when you demonstrate these qualities under stress or when you feel like doing or saying something else, the more rapidly these qualities become a permanent part of your mental makeup. The more you practice good values, the more rapidly you become a truly superior person. The key is to developing the unshakable self-confidence that will make everything else possible for you are self-control, self-mastery and self-discipline. Self-confidence can come directly by behaving in a self-confident manner, but more often it comes indirectly by doing and saying the things and practicing the behaviors that lead to self-confidence.
The most important self-development behavior is living consistently with your highest values at every opportunity. Appreciate how special you are. There will never be anyone exactly like you. You were given special gifts and talents to share with the world. And even though everybody has special gifts and talents, nobody will use theirs quite the same way you do. You have a way of being in the world and a perspective that's unique to you. You are the only one who thinks your thoughts the way you think them.
