Don't Allow People To Step On Your Dreams! | Ep.157

TODAY'S LESSON 

The life lesson for today has nothing to do with a coffee bean, but it just came to my mind. I just graduated high school, I was 18 years old and I wanted to be an OB nurse so badly. I went to a local college and I remember sitting in a classroom, I think it was Anatomy and Physiology and one of the teachers was a nurse.

She asked us "What do you want to do?", it was like a prerequisite before you started nursing school. I said "I want to be an OB nurse", and so she looked at me and said, "You'll never be an OB nurse because there's too many of them"...

I guess at that time when I graduated high school in 2001, there might have been an influx of OB nurses. I remember, I was 18 and thinking in my chair saying, "Then I don't want to do it"... My mom is an ER nurse and my dad is a paramedic, so I know the medical field. But I legitimately went to the office that day and I changed my degree.

"I can't be an OB nurse, I'm not going to do this"...

I love where I'm at today, I love everything that I get to do. But I will never tell somebody that they cannot do something, because you have no idea.

I can't believe that nurse didn't even try to encourage me to chase after my dreams. I would have been a good nurse. Don't let people squish your dreams!
