On March 27th, a dog groomer celebrated winning top prize in pet services at last year's Best of Welsh Business Awards, only to face a brutal attack. From a rival's husband, right outside the venue, 47-year-old Julian Sandy, owner of Wolfter's dog grooming, beats six competitors including Paus and Relax to claim the honor on June 18th, 2025, at the Flint Mountain Park Hotel. But 56-year-old Adrian Bolton, whose wife runs the rival business, chased Sandy down in the courtyard and unleashed punches, kicks, and the thumb. Twist caught on CCTV. The assault came out of nowhere, while Sandy stood alone after his big win. He runs wooferts with his 42-year-old partner Martin Bradley and neither knew Bolton well. Security stepped in eventually, letting Sandy escape to his hotel room, but the shock and pain left him reeling. Sandy's injuries hit hard, a snap joint and chip bone in the stumb, sidelined him from grooming for 12 weeks. Bruising to his jaw and kidney area made eating tough for weeks, and he lost 18,000 pounds

in earnings while dipping into 6,000. Pounds say for salon upgrades just to cover bills. Clients even drifted to the rival shop. Meanwhile, and Mold magistrates court, on February 27th, Bolton emitted assault, causing actual bodily harm. The judge sentenced him to 160 hours of unpaid work and ordered him to pay Sandy 2,000 pounds in compensation. Sandy still battles daily thumb pain, relying on painkillers and antidepressants, with doctors warning of possible surgery ahead. His love for dog grooming now hangs in the balance, from what started as a business rivalry gone wrong.
