Dog Attack Kills Woman in North Carolina

Investigators believe as many as three dogs were involved. Her body turned up in the 500 block of Cross Creek Lane after her family asked for a welfare check. Officials quickly ruled out natural causes based on the scene. They called in the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation for help right away. Nautopsie done Friday in Winston-Salem confirmed the death came from the dog attack. That set things in motion for a deeper look. Meanwhile, that same evening on February 27th, searches grab three dogs from a house on Cross Creek Lane. The animals are now in quarantine, as the probe continues. Dog bites lead to about 43 deaths each year nationwide, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Families and communities are left reeling from these rare but tragic events.
