Dissident Republicans' Bomb Plot at Lurgan Police Station

Northern Ireland's Justice Minister said it would have caused total devastation if it went off. This happened just before the anniversary of the 1916 Easter Rising, a key event leading to Ireland's independence from British rule. This called it a sad, pointless move by the group to grab attention. Political leaders from all sides condemned the plot as abhorrent in chilling. Justice Minister Naomi Long visited the station, praised the officers for handling it swiftly, and sent thoughts to the terrified driver caught in the nightmare. Superintendent Brennan Greens said the community doesn't back these stugs, and the support from locals and leaders has heartened the force. Ireland's premier Michael Martin and deputy Simon Harris called it appalling, a throw back to the troubles with no place in modern society.
