Disappearance of Frederick Valentich - UFO Encounter

On October 21, 1978, twenty year old pilot Frederick Valentich departed Melbourne on what should have been a routine flight to King Island. Just minutes after passing Cape Otway, he radioed air traffic control to report a strange object flying around his aircraft before uttering the chilling words, "It's not an aircraft," moments before radio contact was lost forever.
Despite an extensive four-day search involving military aircraft, civilian pilots, and ships across Bass Strait, no confirmed trace of Frederick or his Cessna was ever found, leaving behind one of Australia's most debated aviation mysteries and a case that continues to divide investigators nearly fifty years later.
