DePaul's Blocker Shines in Tournament Loss

Tournament, falling to Georgetown. 63-56 at Madison Square Garden Layden Blocker came off the bench to lead the way with 16 points, including a season high for three-pointers, plus seven assists. The Blue Demons jumped out early and held a slim 24-21 lead at halftime, thanks to strong defense that stifled the Hoyas. Ninja Benson added 12 points and seven rebounds in his eighth straight double-digit scoring game, while freshman Cruz McClure chipped in nine points, and two steals. Fans saw a gritty effort from DePaul, now 16 and 16 on the year, against a Georgetown squad that finished 15 and 17. Six Blue Demons made their tournament debuts, bringing fresh energy, despite the outcome. Blocker's seven assists tied for third most in program tournament history, the Hoyas since Eli Kane back in 2018. DePaul's defense also set marks, holding Georgetown to just 21 points and 29% shooting in the first half, the lowest ever in A.
