Welcome back to with the first pick with the combine and free agency behind us on the draft just around the corner. It's time for the perfect draft for the Denver Broncos. I'm Ryan Wilson. That's former Titans GM, Ryan Carthon, and Ryan before we get going, usually I like to ask Broncos fans what they think their teams biggest need is post-free agency pre draft, but we got to start with this. Jalen Waddle is moonwalking his way from South Beach over to the Colorado Rockies. And if you're listening here to the trade details,

3:03Jalen Waddle, 2026 fourth round pick headed to Denver and the dolphins get a 2026 first round pick from Denver. That's a 30th overall pick. In addition to 2026 third and fourth rounder, Ryan, my initial reaction is this feels a little rich if you're the Broncos, but it's also the only the 30th pick and then the subsequent late round picks and rounds three and four. And you're getting so much needed juice on the outside. So how do you feel about this trade? Yeah, like you said, I think, and I think just the aesthetic of three picks going on feels like a lot, but if you're the Denver Broncos, you may feel like you're only one piece away. Right. And so what is that one piece causing? And what is that? How do you value that one piece? And so we've all said it. I think we've been talking about it all season that the Denver Broncos needed a vertical field stretcher. And so they're definitely getting this in Jalen Waddle. We've seen Sean Peyton's history of having guys like this, the speed guys that he's had, the Robert Meachams, the Devery Henderson's, you know, just all the different guys, Ted Ginn, they went and

4:09got Ted Ginn during his tenure in New Orleans. And so having that guy in his office really opposite up for him. Because right now it's Coral and Sutton, a little Jordan Humphries, they brought back Troy Franklin, who they drafted a few years ago. And Pat Bryant, the third round pick from a year ago to Illinois, who is a big target, but he's not a burner. They do have Marvin Mims, but he's never been a number one or a number two, maybe two and a half or three to half. It would be honest, but where he was on the depth chart. So Jalen Waddle is the immediate game changer. He's undersized, but he gets open. And that will make no doubt. Bonyx's job light easier. All right. The Broncos had the 30s pick. Now they just have seven picks in the draft. And we are starting with pick 62. So this changes everything. Let me ask you this, Rand, if you're this far along having your draft meetings and then middle of March, you trade your first round pick, how do you reorganize, reshuffle, re whatever your draft meetings or just business as usual, you're just not picking 30s

5:12anymore. Yeah, I don't think this I don't think this changes anything because you approached everything from the start understanding that this was a possibility for you. Okay. And so you these conversations just didn't happen yesterday or this morning. These conversations were probably initiated at the combine. So you kind of knew heading into it that this was a possibility and what you could give up. So I mean, it's business as usual. By the way, before this deal was was consummated, the Broncos were the only team that and I felt that had not signed or traded for an external free agent. They just brought back their own guys. And part because their own guys are really good. And also they were working to get this jail and bottle thing done it apparently. So that is no longer the case, but an interesting side note prior to jail and bottle heading to Denver. Pick 62 is now upon us. They don't need a wide receiver. Tide ends still in the conversation. They brought back Alex Singleton and Justin Sternub, a linebacker could begin the mix. They brought back JK Dobbins maybe running back.

6:14They lost Sean Franklin Myers, maybe defensive line. Not a ton of needs for a really good football team, which explains why they moved off of some of those picks to get played make it to the water. But what do you think in here at pick 62? Yeah, just looking at looking at this list. I mean, you look at the top of the list right now, Jadarian price. You know, again, you you bring back JK Dobbins. You still have RJ Harvey. So it's the where's the where the rep's going to come for Jadarian price. I still think they they need a corner personally to play opposite of PS2. You know, Raleigh gets targeted a lot and he gets a ton of penalties thrown his way. And he's in the final year of his rookie deal as well. Yeah, and I can't see them probably bringing him back at a at an extremely high rate. What what would you think here at corner? Sorry, I got IGB is there. David Dick Vanosson who plays outside. I would ask they have to take on McMillan who's a really good player. But I would ask you what you think about the idea of

7:17trade on Stukes, who's a nickel-backed Arizona, but his six feet tall ran the four fours. I think he has outside ability. And then you get the versatility of outside inside. Now they draft the Jadarian last year as well, who's who plays. Yeah. So you do have Jaday, who they have to give an opportunity to. So right. So that then the question becomes, do you want to back to back years with your first pick being, and I'm not saying that's a bad thing. I'm just doing good working through the math. The other thing I would throw out there. Let me throw this out there. Let's look and tight in as well. And while we do that, Josiah Trotter, Jeremiah Trotter's son, is available. And he is, I think, one of the best off-ball linebackers in this class after the handful of guys we've talked about the death going back to the fall. So that could be consideration as well, but it tied in. We have Max Claire, Sam Roosh out of Stanford. Michael Trigg is insanely athletic as it's Justin Jolie. I like Justin Jolie a little better. I think he's a little bit of a

8:19route runner. You're a guy more on climb out of Michigan. There are a ton of dudes that can ball out. Troy Roy, you're out of Cincinnati. And what about, let's look at linebacker. My guy, Josiah Trotter, it's going to be at the top. And then who else we got? Kyle Lewis, Anthony Hill Jr. Still there. I know you like out of Texas, Giante Lawson, Bryce Betcher. The baseball player turned football player at Oregon. I mean, this, oh, there's so many, so many tied in, excuse me, tied in so many linebackers that can play. I'm looking at my rankings. Let's go. I like Trotter better than Hill, but you, I think you like Hill a little better than the night. Yeah, let's go Anthony Hill Jr. Okay. And that's not, I mean, that's, that's not a bad choice at all. Just getting athletes. Next up, pick 108. And Michael Trigg is still there. Let's talk about Michael Trigg quickly. You and I talked about him over in the fall when he was catching

9:22passes from a guy, Sawyer Robertson. I've said it before. I'll repeat it. While the athleticism is through the roof, I don't think he's better than JT Sanders, who the panther shaft out of Texas. I believe in the fourth round. Athletic, you know, big thing that's going to hold Michael Trigg back is everyone's concerned about the off the field. That was even getting to that. I think that's what's going to hold people back. Looking at this, and this is where we have to roll the dice because, and I'm looking at two names in particular. Again, I don't know, and maybe PFF is right, but in every one of these we've done the anti-lossing has been available in the fourth round. I don't see him going in the fourth round personally. But then also looking at this and seeing Carson back available and understanding where the Denver Broncos finish, you won game away from the Super Bowl,

10:28when you had to play with your back a quarterback that couldn't get it done. Okay, we've had this conversation. You do have a pick three picks later because the dolphins as well. So you might go, yeah, so that's where I'm going. We got 108 and 111. Do you take the anti-loss and hope that Carson back is there or do you take Carson back being that is the quarterback and then you look for. So are we going to pull us and Saturday Bengals and take two linebackers in this class? You say what? We're going to pull the Bengals and take two linebackers off all that. I mean, it's the best available player. I get it. I'm just asking the other thing with Carson back, what's the conversation? If any, are you having with your young quarterbacks on his rookie deal, who's your starter to prepare? Hold on one more time. Are you talking about Nick and saying, hey, we're going to draft a quarterback in Round 3? Yeah, it's a backup. He knows he's the starter. Okay, I want to make sure that we're all on the same page. I find if you think the anti-loss and he's going to contribute, I'm fine going to anti-loss and if you're if that's your best available and that's the guy you want to target. Well, let's go, let's go Carson back. Okay. All right. And get the quarterback and because the anti-loss isn't that big of an end boom, he's still there for us at 1-11. Okay. So it worked. All right. So when you I'll be the GM, you're the assistant GM, but I'm going to make you go talk to the media. When the media asks you why are we taking two linebackers and a quarterback with the first three picks, what are you saying? Because I'm saying these were the best available players, these are players that we had highly rated. Yep. And we didn't expect a guy like the anti-loss and it'd be available to us. Okay. Let's see what tight ends are available. So my guy, Josh, Quavis is still there out of Alabama. Tanner Coseal is a good player out of Houston. How much do you like Oscar Delt? He wasn't used a lot. We talked to our guy, Raleigh Noel Calc, he's more of an H back super smart guy. He wasn't used a lot for some reason, but he's a good athlete and I think his best football is ahead of him. And if this were where we're going to take him here 168, this feels I have no issue doing that because the athleticism is there. He's a great teammate, good dude in the locker room. And if you throw in the ball, he's going to catch it and he has he has the acability. So I you said and you're talking Riley talking Delp. Delp. Yeah. Riley's more of an H back. He'll block for you if that's what you're looking for. Yeah. Let's go. Let's go Oscar Delp here.

13:44Yeah. I think Riley will be be available without later picks here. Now we're getting to around seven. We have three picks and then we have the last two picks in real life. Maybe not in the strapped here, but that's the case here. All right. I say we just keep drafting quarterback. Taylor Green is still there. I'm kidding. All right. Hey, so we got to tie it in. I didn't say that because the first one that jumped off to my eye was Cole Peyton because you talked about him being what's my guy at New Orleans. Yeah, it tastes. Oh, that's interesting. Now he doesn't want to be known as Taysum Hill and that he thinks he's the quarterback. And I think he's right, but he is athletic. That's fair enough. But athletically, Cole Peyton can do some things. He rushed for North of 700 yards last year in North Dakota state. So he can do that when he's asked to. And of course, you know how much Sean Peyton looked Taysum Hill. Sean Peyton ain't calling plays though. According to Sean Peyton, Stavis Webb. So we shall see for now for now how long that lasts. So we got our linebackers.

14:49We got our backup quarterback. And Broncos fans, let me know we think about Carson back as your backup quarterback. And I would qualify that by saying, remember how you felt when the quarterback was thrust into the situation he wasn't prepared. Not that he wasn't prepared, but he hadn't played a lot of football and it didn't go the way you wanted him to go. So the chiefs had the same issue. So I think it's important to have a backup quarterback and Mac Jones is certainly living proof of that. Defensive line could be an issue. Running back could be an issue in terms of where we go here. Let's look at the defensive line availability striker. Sean Franklin Myers has gone. They have Malcolm Roach, FDJ Jones, Savian Jones, who is a reek as there as well. All right, nothing's blowing my hair back here. Okay. All right. What do you think, Ran?

15:53Where did you want to go? Because we've, like you said, two linebackers. We've hit the tight end. Let's go best available striker. And let's see what we got because we're these are all late seven around picks at this point. So we need to get guys that can, at this point, you're looking for guys that can have a chance to make the team and contribute on special teams. Is that the thinking? Right. Yeah. So my soul face on is a good running back. He's 27. So I don't think I don't know even as a seventh round pick. Many Anthony, the wider Sierra Wisconsin, I think he's a special teams guy. I think he has a chance to make the team. I don't know how you feel about Haynes King. Haynes King. Now is that you know what? Let's do this. We're going to start with key controls to to tackle out of Michigan, Adam and Sir, excuse me. I like him a lot. I think he goes higher than that. Score down a little bit. No, go down lower. Yeah. Let's go with that. Let's take him. So now we have offensive line depth. So that's good. Now we have two picks to go. And then Ran, we can go

Let's let's look at running back. Let's see if we can find a guy that has a little juice that could join the running back room. And I mean, Jam Miller's still there. Why is he still there? Donaldson's got some versatility. Let's go CJ Donaldson. That's I mean, they have the running back room is a it's a deep room. But this is the that's Mr. relevant. Essentially. So I get it.
