Democrats DEFEND Sugary Drinks To Own Trump

Show us the safety data that show that it's okay for a teenage girl and drink an ice coffee with 115 grams of sugar at it. I don't think they're gonna be able to do it. So today we have a very interesting battle going on that goes to show you the change in dynamic in American politics ever since the evil bad orange man became the Republican nominee back in the day and of course won his first term as president of the United States and this has redoubled now that he's in his second term and he's appointed individuals like Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. to head the Department of Health and Human Services. And this particular battle is between R. K. and the Trump administration and of course Massachusetts governor slash Dunkin' Donuts and Starbucks due to the fact that Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. decided that he was gonna call out these companies for the ridiculous amounts of sugar that they add to their drinks

1:04and how he believes that they're actually not safe to be consumed by teenagers and when I'm talking about teens I mean actual teenagers not teens that be committing all these crimes in different parts of the country and I think this is a very interesting thing for us to talk about because it goes to show you the dynamic shift among the American population on these very issues what they're willing to tolerate from Republicans that they weren't willing to tolerate from Democrats and that's what we're going to talk about today. So I'm going to say it anyway it should be obvious to everybody out there that drinking over a hundred grams of sugar in a drink that you are describing as coffee is not going to be healthy for you it's not going to be healthy for you as a child a teenager as an adult as an old person obviously this is going to produce a lot of problems and of course

2:08Dunkin' Donuts and Starbucks both have drinks with absurd amounts of sugar in it and a lot of times people end up clicking on these viral videos that actually demonstrate that by showing you the actual physical sugar content within these drinks so I think it's important for you guys to get the visualization so you can understand what we're talking about. Let's see how much sugar is in a frozen pumpkin swirl. 181 grams of sugar that's nearly three quarters of a two liter bottle of coke. Let's measure that. So that's either 34 teaspoons or 51 and a half cubes of sugar in this drink. Yeah so to me that is not an ice coffee with sugar or an ice pumpkin spice whatever whatever with sugar

3:14in it that is a sugar drink that has a hint of coffee in it like the primary ingredient in there is obviously the sugar the sweetener and yes this is not good for you and probably one of the reasons why the American people are so fat and have so much high rates of diabetes is that a lot of people will consume this in the morning regularly not realizing that this is essentially worse than having a chocolate or vanilla or even a cookies and cream milkshake every morning because again it is just loaded with absurd amounts of sugar but the thing is the response to this has been Governor Healy of Massachusetts posting this image which depicts a Dunkin' Donuts cup it says come and take it and essentially what we're seeing right now is an inversion of what we've seen at four decades in this country where now the Democrats who don't care about freedom in any possible regard normally are the nanny state types that try to over regulate the health of their people in fact Massachusetts actually banned mental cigarettes from their entire state because

4:15they believed it was evil white and racist to have a flavor that is apparently preferred by black individuals in your tobacco sales but yeah now Governor Healy has decided to flip it and say sugar pump it directly into my system give me the diabetes I need it right now and again it's absolutely absurd and ridiculous but the thing is Robert F. Kennedy Jr. is not really a Republican he was a Democrat his whole life he comes from a prestigious Democratic family so it just is a case where you have somebody who's in the Trump administration therefore Trump bad Trump and now the Democrats because they have to be opposed to the Trump administration or defending their corporations are defending the ability to poison the use poison the kids with assert amounts of sugar and yeah this is one of the things where everything flips topsy terribly people forget about their principles and we end up at this absurd position and by the way you can actually go to the comments under the CBS video to see a lot of people saying small government indeed oh why don't the Republicans

5:21crack down on Trump feeding that sports team McDonald's at the Oval Office and all these other things in response to that that again would usually be made by Republicans again it just jump back a couple of years to when mayor Michael Bloomberg tried to institute a big gulp soda ban because he was like you should not be able to buy these large drinks you can't be trusted to make these choices and if you want to buy this so de pops from the 7-Eleven from the stores then what you need to do is just buy two little soda pops and mayor Michael Bloomberg knows better than you how to run your life so he wanted to initiate that ban now of course this was regarded as nanny states chicane ry through and through people ended up pushing back against it there was supposedly a million big gulp march that was going to be an opposition to this but in reality that did not show up and this actual protocol from Bloomberg was struck down in the courts because it actually ended up allowing certain institutions and certain locations to sell you a bunch of soda while other places

6:21absolutely could not and in fact there's a reference to this particular issue in the comments of this video where it says remember when Republicans were mad about limits on soda size and then people are calling the Republicans hypocrites and whatnot but again Robert F. Kennedy Jr. is a Democrat so he is on the same side of that particular issue the people who have churned hypocrites or the Democratic Party that are now openly defending corporations and defending their god tier right in order to serve it your little it a bebebebe children all the sugar that they could possibly want and yeah it obviously is a situation where the parties seem to have flipped but again it's influenced by the fact that you have a lifelong Democrat in the health and human services position now I want to make something clear to everybody out there in the audience on where I stand on this issue and that is on the side of personal freedom I was against Mayor Michael Bloomberg's over nanny stating through the Department of Health in New York City when he was the mayor and I'm against Robert F. Kennedy trying to ban this at a governmental level without any legislation

7:25from the Department of Health and Human Services the fact is he does not have that power it is government overreach it is nanny state isma and it's ridiculous and absurd for him to demand these results from Dunkin Donuts to prove that what they're doing which by the way is not illegal in the United States of America if you want to make it illegal you have to have Congress actually changed laws is in fact healthy or good or whatever that being said in terms of educational value I'm actually 100% in agreement with Robert F. Kennedy Jr. We should change guidelines we should highlight the fact that sugar at these quantities is absolutely not good for you and we should try to better inform people of all the regular things in their normal everyday life again Dunkin Donuts is the biggest coffee seller even though again with all the sugar loaded up in these drinks it's barely coffee in the United States of America and people should be informed that day and Starbucks are selling you sugar with a little bit of hint of coffee flavor in it not the other way around I think it is absolutely crucial that people understand what they're

8:29consuming I just don't want the government to force them to not consume this even if in European nations that Robert F. Kennedy might want a model public health after they would do that or in Canada they would do that federal dietary guidelines published earlier this year recommend meals should have no more than 10 grams of added sugar but nearly every drink on the Dunkin Menu exceeds that amount and at least six have more than 100 grams still many base standards are standing by the chain now look I bring you all of this information because I want you guys to be clear that I have not moved on this particular issue even though I know a lot of the populace right jump on every bandwagon they don't think about the consequences of the government grabbing these powers outside of legislation and how they could be used against us if I don't know an actual Michael Bloomberg ended up becoming president of the United States of America and it's something to clearly and obviously watch out for that being said I feel like we're all in this position even people like me who find these to be disgusting unhealthy drinks that you should probably avoid

9:30in your day to day life when you actually look at the content the level of sugar in these particular drinks and by the way the CBS news actually did the demonstration of this as well and think damn I can't believe people are actually consuming this much less teenagers that's absolutely wild in every possible way for those you were going to say but Sean we don't let childrens we don't let use consume alcohol that's bad that's terrible and that is something that the government bans one it's not banned at the federal government level in fact the federal government has to use tricks on the states in order to force the age from 18 to 21 tricks that I don't agree with including withholding highway funds from the states and in fact I believe South Carolina specifically actually sued to get their highway funds back and they ended up losing because the federal government was ruled to be allowed to set conditions like this on funding something to think about by the way when Trump is trying to withhold money for immigration enforcement reasons but to be clear I'm actually not against in any way shape or form if you are a teenager and your parents

10:32have you have like half a cup of wine at dinner or something of the story because this is also something that's common in Europe and again people like to talk about how they have healthier outcomes over there but they don't want to copy all of their policies and whatnot and we don't want to copy them either so yeah I wouldn't necessarily ban it I understand sticking up for the right to serve this absolute garbage that being said it's important to acknowledge that it's garbage and I do appreciate to some degree Robert F Kennedy acknowledging that in the public and making an enemy of the sugar industry at least in that regard that being said we have checks and balances we have limits on government policy for a reason and yeah I'm not all that impressed by some of the other things that Robert F Kennedy is doing over at Health and Human Services but again you might disagree with me it's fine I don't really care I'm just not in the nanny state camp and no I'm not going to shift that way because supposedly factions of the populist right are shifting that way as we wanted to show you exactly what 100 grams of sugar looks like now make it make sense

11:34like that's actually goes into a drink but this is a whole lot of sugar again the most important lesson of this particular story is that you should probably be your own person learn to think for yourself actually react not based on whether or not Trump's on one side or the other side of the issue because this whole entire thing right here is a perfect example that a perfect distillation of that where you have the Trump administration doing something even though it's coming from a lifelong Democrat named RFK junior and then you have the Democrats reacting defending the sugar for the teens defending the Coca-Cola and the Dunkin Donuts and the Starbucks and then you have all these people on the right attacking them saying no the government should nanny state you and it's just an absurd a concoction of hypocrisy and honestly let us talk about it over a cup of coffee that's 95% sugar and by the way that pumpkin spice drink that I talked about earlier on actually contains no pumpkin which may be the biggest crime of all time but you know what those are just my thoughts I want to know you guys think down in the comments below as per usual if you
