Defending State Law w/ Warren Petersen

About this episode

This week, Debi is joined by Senator Warren Petersen, Arizona Senate President

Senator Peterson explains the basic makeup and process of the state legislature, the role of Senate President and the process of being selected to serve as Senate President.

Debi and Senator Petersen discuss how Kris Mayes,  our current Arizona Attorney General, has repeatedly and willfully failed to do her job defending state law in the courts.   Our state law allows the Senate President to have standing and to step in as the de-facto AG to defend state law when the sitting AG refuses. Senator Petersen has been doing this for the last several years.

Senator Petersen discusses several of these important cases including protecting girls' sports and keeping our communities safe from sex offenders.

They also discuss the importance of the role of Attorney General and why this next election is critical.
