Debut gets ball rolling | Jeremiah, Julian shine | Who flashed?

1:06As you can see, I am flying solo today. I gave the staff the day off because it's a national holiday, which means I really didn't have to do that. It was mandated. But Dave is celebrating his 25th anniversary today. So congratulations to him and his wife. Wanted to get something up here today, even if it's a little bit later and a little bit shorter just for those who are still basking in the glow of what was a tremendous performance on Saturday. And then we can talk about Texas or whatever. First half of the show, I haven't I wasn't on Dave's post game show. So I kind of am fresh to the wolves here of my opinions. And then I will lay those out. And then I will put my glasses on because I'm aging like a freight chain. And I will then be able to read all your comments. If you want to talk about what I said, if you have comments on the game, if you want to talk about the erosion of time, as it stands, governing a game or Lincoln Keynolds or anything else,

2:08Texas, whatever, we will get into it. So I probably told you guys this on the show. I watch, I tried to watch if it's possible. The game with the sound off. It is very weird. I get it. But I have found that I pick up on more stuff and it's more my opinion. Then you're kind of led by the announcers and such, even though they have really good ones. I like to do it also because if someone flashes, you can kind of pick up on it. So I'm going to kind of hit the obvious stuff. And then maybe some other stuff that other people have said or haven't said. One, Jeremiah, I don't even know what to say anymore. The catch was so incredible. It happened so quickly. Almost you couldn't appreciate it. So you saw Gary College's picture of it. And then the replays. I tried to have a conversation last week with Dave about this and I kind of butchered it. But to me, he's one of the few players playing football right now. High school college or pro

3:12that you can say might actually have a chance to ultimately be the best player at his position. You probably have a real good argument already now. If he continues, of him versus O-Pace is really the standard bears of greatness. And it doesn't really matter where he's picked. It's obvious. The end of the first half when they when they kind of he and Julian hooked up on multiple passes, it was it was just it reminded me of covering high school football. When you cover a town that maybe looked at a guy, a lot of guys on the team that looked like me. And you go up against the team that had like a legit division one big time receiver and he just abused everybody. And there's really nothing you can do. He's just a freight train. He's spectacular. Just got to appreciate every time we get to see him play. And it does look like I lost what to thank Malachi Tony for putting on a show for Miami. I think that made them very

4:14determined to have Jeremiah's first half be as sterling as it was and it was just spectacular. Julian looked as smooth as ever. He throws those deep outs about as well as anyone I've ever seen. No complaints about him. Kind of nifty run into the end zone there. Didn't look great in the bot score with it two or three yards, but he even got a little nifty and probably saved himself what five to six thousand message board posts about us not running. So that was great to see. It also looks to me like and this is something I kind of picked up on with the sound down. Sound down army. Try it out. We can talk. We can chat about it. I think he sees Devon McEwan as almost his security blanket. Of course Jeremiah is going to get the most targets and such, but it looked to me like when you needed kind of to move the chains and someone to make a play in the middle of the field, which he did with McEwan did with great aggression. Guys who run through the ball in

5:16the middle of the field and get yardage up the field are crazy, but they're tough and they're reliable. If you guys have who watch the show and watch with Mark and Garick, I was very high on Devon after seeing his tape at UTSA and he's probably played better yesterday or better Saturday than had expected. Moving over to the defense, we can talk. We'll get to the some of the stuff of the offense when I talk about the younger guys, but I'll tell you what's really impressive right now. If you want to know a reason why Ohio State, we're always here to stay, but it's really here to stay in the college football playout chatter right now. The defensive line depth and use and what we have on the way and recruiting thanks to Larry Johnson and company is and that Patricia is spectacular. I mean, it's just it's really, really an impressive group. I get the Kenyatta, missed a few sacks. I predicted he would have 13 on the year. I might have to amend that

6:19now to 12 because I think he probably missed two or three in that game, but he was close. What you really want to see are the pressures anyway. So I thought he had a nice debut. I know people want to see the sack results. It was great to see Jason Moore make a sack. Didn't have to really do much. Read the play and smashed the quarterback, but it was great to see he looks enormous. But if I had to say the guy who really, really jumped off the screen to me and just blew me away, it was Cory Wilder. Now that is someone who has many werewolf tendencies. I'm sure everyone saw that replayed it. He armed trucked a defensive offensive lineman bigger than him. Red shoe white style. He slipped the double team when he moved inside to rush from the defensive tackle spot. In the rush package and forced, I think probably forced that interception that all forgot. Then you saw him later in the game stand up edge just a burst. So he is like the

7:25modern versatile just big time, big time player. Very, very excited about him. I thought Epi sat in the alley. I wrote Epi and I wasn't going to take a shot at it, but I tried it as a sophomore. I thought I saw a little burst out of him. Then the linebacker is Tartar Salford and Riley Petagion, of course, flashed. Jay Timmans was very good. I thought Devin Stance was very good. You may math. He looked good. Look, they were the opponent was overmatched. I will say this. One of my NFL scouts, if you guys ever read the boarding house, there's an NFL scout who contributes to that graciously. He was actually in attendance at this game. I didn't have the running back and forth. I have with him as much, but he did send me, oh, that was special after Legend-Based touchdown run. I harken back for Legend. It reminded me of Traveon Henderson. If you guys remember when they played

8:28Texas in the Final Four, he got a really bad personal foul penalty, kind of an out of characteristic. Pretty much took a swing at somebody or hit him in the helmet. Then you're like, I remember thinking to myself, oh, this is not going to go good for Traveon. If things end up going poorly, he's going to get a healthy share of blame. Then he busted off the half-screen pass touchdown to end the first half. No one will probably remember that. The penalty became a chuckle after thought. I don't know what was going through Legend's head to those first two returns. I had the sound down, like I said, and I can see, and I heard Brandon and us doing this. That was nuts. But then by the end of the game, his talent is just undeniable. Undeniable. I'm sure not the only one who thought, we're going to see plenty of this guy. He is a difference maker, and they are going back to his home state, I might add, so that is fantastic. If I had to mention my concerns coming out of the game, I was not thrilled with the play

9:34of Ian Moore and Philip Daniels. It looked like they got beat on several occasions. Now, I don't have the eye on the sky all 22, and that could have been other people's mistakes and such. But if I had to say my concerns, I saw Phil Daniels tackle someone one player. I didn't get called. Early on, I saw him struggle. I saw Syrival get moved out there. Daniels came back. I think they were probably trying to rotate a ton of dudes. But overall, a very, very impressive performance. I don't really too many guys to mention. But if you guys have anything that you have to put in my glasses on here, so I can now see, and I'll go back and see if we are on the same page. 10:36addict myself, and even sometimes 15 minutes to kind of wallow on the greatness of a win is awesome. So let's see. This is a fact. Artichard 84, playing at home, if you're watching, you should be knowing that. Now we get to see the real off as an event. So for sure, I mean, the step up and talent from Texas, from ball state to Texas is staggering. Let's see. This I agree with too. Look, Artichard, again, I do think they kept it pretty vanilla. Of course, they didn't need to get exotic to beat ball state. I'm sure there were some nuances they put on there. They put in there. They know that we'll cause extra film work. That was my question as well. Can Philip Daniels get better? I hope so. That was a struggle out there. That was a struggle at him. It's troubling.

11:40Let's see. I broke the bowl. I don't think dude. Yeah, this is true. I do think he's on a short leash. Man, I really like it. See him come through because I love Cyraveld inside that nucleus trio inside really is I think the best in the country. And I get that you have to you know, the tackles and a lot of ways outweigh these, you know, the talent significance at guard. So I can understand them moving Cyraveld out there, but it'd be disappointing. Yeah, I think everyone's kind of on the same page there. That's another problem when you play on a great team with so many great players. If you do tend to struggle, it shows, which is an issue. Yeah. Yep. Texas has some guys on the edge now. Simmons is a beast. And it's a real issue. Yeah. I'm actually surprised as many people are on the Daniels band anti. Could we just put Sam Greer in for Daniels now? Ha ha. I don't know if that's

12:48obviously that's not going to happen now, but that trouble and tackle if you're really struggling against a team like Texas is a recipe for death. They can take advantage of that. And I'm pretty sure they had access. They have access to the ball state tape. So if we can see it, you can bet they can see it. And they'll be all over it. This is a great point. I hadn't heard Reggie Bush archery on fire. My son texted me from Israel. He is playing his first year of professional basketball there. And he said, Braxton Esk. And that's what it was. I haven't seen anyone make that with a triple quadruple cutback. Since since Braxton, that was very impressive. I think Braxton even tweeted out that he should be wearing number five. I think that's probably true. I don't blame a man. Can you imagine standing back there with 105,000 people and everyone's looking at you? There aren't many plays like that in

13:51football where you're kind of just the apple of everyone's eye for a second. That's tough. And I agree with this too. I think he does believe you can house it every time. I believe him too. Yes. Curry Wilder. First of all, 34 for a defensive lineman is a tad a skew. But he looked great. Oh, he looked good. Let's see what else we got here. Yep. As long as base starts getting it to the 20 without ball scourty issues every time. This is first game. You got to be realistic. I think if there was a theme yesterday and Mr. Day summed it up. Freshman or freshman for a reason. Thankfully, we got a chance to get the growing things out a little bit last year. I bring this up a lot. Oh, Jackson didn't even play against Texas. I have a feeling they have a setup to get through the Texas game. Then almost like last year's same wave. It was just the first game. Then we'll see more guys get involved in different spots.

14:59Lincoln Keenholz. I'll tell you what. I caught myself rooting heavily for him. I was really impressed with him in the second half. I would bet you, and this is going to sound a little bit outlandish maybe. I would bet you, and if it doesn't work out a quarterback for him in it might, he could probably play safety. But I would not be surprised if he could do that. I mean, at a very, very high level eventually. Yep, it was great to see. I did kind of have a feeling that Mississippi always had one on their back pocket there. Like I knew it was going to be close. I never really felt when we were going to get it over the hump. Let's make sure we know this at all times. I'll address whatever that was that we saw. I'll tell you a funny story. So I had somewhat had other family stuff to deal with. I ended up following that after the fact through the thread we

16:00had about it. So I was like, hopeful, we're going to win. You know what I mean? They're going to lose, pick a lose, and then you could see it slipping away, and then it was like being, being, being, and then I went and watched it. I don't even know how to address that. I was almost embarrassed for them. If that's even possible, rushing the field after that, boy, I know that, you know, week to week, they always say week one can be different, but I watched Oklahoma play, and I would be worried. I'd be very, very, very, very worried. Brent Metable is a very good defensive coordinator. He's going to turn our guy into a pretzel. So that's very, very interesting. Maybe, I mean, maybe Michigan was holding back stuff. It doesn't look to me like

17:01under what is the kind of guy you want to, you know, mix it up with. On a half-hence, you probably want to have it pretty standard. So he's in trouble. And that's got some potential. There were some deer in the headlights for Kyle Wittingham there. And Dave and I talked to us. I'm a, it was a big Kyle Wittingham fan. He looks like he might, I'm not saying what I've done, but that just looked awful. And I would say this, hypothetically, and I know they've now shown the difference in the clocks and they're people saying it's official, it was officially official, I was accurate, but let's say Michigan rebounds from this and goes on to have a nice season. And it comes on to Michigan versus another team with the same record for a playoff spot. That game's not going to count as a win. I'm sorry. That makes no sense. Yes, Jade Timbins was spectacular. Not the biggest dude,

18:06but feisty in great position. Very, very impressive. Let's see, check your clocks. Exactly. Check your clocks. Good Lord. Just imagine what it would be like. I mean, if you want to sit and think about, sometimes it feels good. This is a terrible thing. But someone else is doing much worse than you. Makes you feel better about yourself. I've of course only do that when it comes to football programs. But being a Michigan fan kind of would be awful now. I mean, every, nothing is good. Even when you win, it's not good. I mean, if you actually sit and read a list of what's going on there in the last what, 36 or three years, 24 months, whatever you want to do, it's gross. So I don't know about all that. That's really, really, really bad. I mean, it was embarrassing. I think for the entire squad. All right. I think we're going to get out of here shortly. I'll tell you

19:09this. I do believe they've got a great chance at Ohio State to beat Texas. Now, I think it's going to have to be the cleanest effort they've had in some time. What I still need to see in kind of the one lingering question I have, I got plenty of questions. But one is for the defense. And I'm not just saying this because he's now my favorite NFL player, but Caleb Downs provided a level of understanding on the defense. I thought we just didn't bust. If guys got beat, they got beat. If you bust against Texas, it's a touchdown. And that scares me. So you've got a lot of young new guys in there who are going to see things for the first time. And that makes it challenging. I really, here's what I would really hope to see. I want to see our guys from Texas go back there and just kick butt. If I'd devin look great out there. And of course, this is a pro Sanchez podcast. It would not be bad

20:13to see Legend Bay get it done. And then, you know, anyone else for recruiting purposes who's going to come out to that game, that's I mean, that's going to be the marquee game of the weekend. I don't care what anyone says. There'll be some other good ones. As I said, I expect the sooners to come to Ann Arbor and just get after it. They do too. They have new guys as well. There's no doubt. And I mean, we have the most consistent offensive weapon and quarterback combo that I think you can have to go into a game like this. So that is what I would rely on. I literally, I don't know what the target is going to be for Jeremiah. But if it's a record for Ohio State, that'd be just fine with me. Didn't talk about running back a lot. But I was actually the, I think, Jacobi looked, the new guy from Florida looked great to me. Very patient. Let the bigger guys get pinned on the on guys and go through it. So
