It's April 5th. Welcome in. This is Dallas News Today, where local news meets AI. I'm Corey with the story. Early Sunday morning in Fort Worth, Texas, a police chase on Interstate 35 turned deadly around 2.34 a.m. Cop spotted a car rolling without headlights near Rosedale Street. Eclipped another vehicle and kept going. When officers tried to pull it over, the driver bolted southbound, hitting a second carb before ditching the highway. The pursuit wrapped up near Tarva Road when police lost sight of the vehicle for a bit while sweeping the area. They found they wrecked off the road in the 1500 block, total loss for the driver who was pronounced dead right there at the scene. Luckily, the passenger climbed out with just minor cuts and got rushed to a hospital. No word on his condition yet. No cops or bystanders got hurt, keeping the damage limited to those inside the suspect car. Right now, Fort Worth's Traffic Investigations Unit and Major K Squad are digging into what sparked the whole thing from the no-headlight start to the crash.
The Taran County Medical Examiner will ID the driver and pin down the exact cause of death. We'll keep an ear out for updates as they drop, staying locked on how this shakes out for the roads around here.
