Deze eeuw heeft Chaum opnieuw een currency bedacht, Praxxis, die onder andere bestand is tegen pogingen tot kraken met een quantumcomputer. En ook heeft hij een communicatietechniek ontwikkeld, Elixxir, die niet alleen versleuteld communiceert, net als bijvoorbeeld Whatsapp, maar ook geen metadata achterlaat - wat Whatsapp wel doet.
Chaum is nu in Nederland om een 'Dijkstra Fellowship' in ontvangst te nemen van het Centrum Wiskunde en Informatica. Dit uiteraard vanwege zijn verdiensten voor de informatica.
